  1. DOS doesn't sent anything. Its Montreal that is the problem.

There have been a couple of people who have waited 4 weeks for the packet 4. You sent it express post? that could be another problem, you should use DHL that is the new method they use. Your mail is probably sitting somewhere in their mail room still.

If you haven't already I would try sending them an ATTN fax to let them know as well as an email subject line saying urgent and your case number.

Thanks very much, that is very helpful. Do you have a fax number and email I should use? Also, what exactly should I say when I fax/email them?

  2. I was wondering if I should have my fiance resend packet 3. She mailed it in the last week of August and the DOS has still not sent out packet 4. I've called every day the past 3 weeks and still nothing. From looking at other members timelines it seems like they had their Packet 4's sent out 7-12 days after they mailed packet 3, certainly does not seem like a 5 week process. I'm thinking send it xpress post with delivery confirmation. Is there a chance that it really is taking this long to log packet 3 or should we get on with resending it?

  3. Does anyone know if there is a way to verify if the consulate has received Packet 3 and is working on Packet 4? My fiance mailed in packet 3 just over a month ago and I've been calling every day but still no luck with packet 4 being logged and being able to book an interview. Any advice?

  4. Thank you both so much for the great help. I called the DOS last week sicne my fiance hadn't received packet 3 and they told me that since the Consulate had received the approved I-129F to go ahead and assemble and mail in packet 3 which my fiance is currently doing. I'll make sure to stay on top of the DOS once she confirms she mailed in packet 3 so that I know when Packet 4 is logged and we can schedule the interview.

  5. Hello all! The NOA2 I received statesthat it is valid from 5/13/11 to 9/13/11. I was wondering if that is the time frame we have to schedule the interview or the time frame during which the interview must take place?

  6. Thanks for the great info, I'll get on that today. I kinda figured the Canada post strike might have something to do with the delay. You mentioned some people never receive Packet 3 or 4? What documents does one need to send to satisfy Packet 3 so that Packet 4 can be logged and an interview booked?

  7. My I-129F was approved on May 13th. I received a letter from the NVC dated for May 23rd stating that they had received the approved petition and would be forwarding it to Montreal and that my fiance should be receiving Packet 3 shortly. As of today she has still not received Packet 3. Is this a normal tme frame or should I call and confirm that they sent her packet 3 and when. I tried calling once and was hit with an unending series of prompts with no option to speak to a live person. If I should call, does anyone know of a number that will get me through to a representative? Thanks!

  8. We filed in June 2010, I got my packet 3 mid-September, took me 5 weeks to get my background check, so I sent my application in Nov 26th. They only took three weeks to get back to me, I scheduled my interview for January 21st (tomorrow!) at the beginning of the month, and had my medical exam on January 4th. So total, if I had gotten my background check beforehand, it would've taken just under 6 months. This was through the Vermont center in the US, and the Montreal consulate here in Canada.

Thanks! Hoping mine progresses as quickly as yours did! Hope your interview was a success :)

  9. Yea post in the Canada forum. You will get much better answers and more responses.

We applied in 2009 - took us about 4 months. However it is very different now and taking much longer.

Can someone provide a link to the Canadian forums? Much appreciated!

  10. Hello! I just recently received my NOA1 notice dated for 1/13/11. From the experience of those who have filed a for a K-1 to bring a Canadian to the US, approximately how long should I expect for the various steps (NOA2, interview, etc) I am aware that it varies from case to case, so I am primarily interested in the time lines of thos who have gone through the experience. Our case is being processed at the Vermont service center and her interview will be at the Montreal embassy. Thanks in advance for any information provided!

    Sincerely,

    Rob Dettman
