  1. Thanks a lot guys it all makes sense now! As for the requirement of the I-134 vs. I-864 for the interview it seems that many embassies seem to prefer the I-864 from what I have heard on posts here, so I am just filling out both from an abundance of caution. Not sure exactly what the case is for the embassy in Kuala Lumpur but I have heard cases of other embassies where their packet 3 clearly states they require only I-134 but on the date of the interview the case officer decides he wants the I-864 instead and so delays the whole process. Just want to avoid any possible extra hassle ya know!

  2. Hello all!

I have a question pertaining to filling out the federal tax return information (no. 25) on the I-864. The instructions state that the amount to input for each year is the adjusted gross income on IRS form 1040EZ but I have hit a snag. Being in the military for the past four years much of my income was not taxable due to being deployed a couple of years in Afghanistan and so was not listed under adjusted gross income on my 3 most recent tax returns. If i just put down whats listed under adjusted gross income then my income level will be listed ridiculously low. Therefore would it be acceptable to list the figure on my W-2s which are more in touch with what I actually earned in the past 3 years? Anyone else had this kind of issue?

    Thanks.
