  1. Hi everyone, hadvmy greencard interview on thu 6th oct and i was approved.

He didnt ask me for any evidence even though i prepared so much.

He told me before we started " this seems like a good day for you " and that was it. I just swore under oath long with my wife and he just asked her how and when we met.

That was it 5 minutes ! He then said you should getbyour greencard within 2 weeks.

Later that evening i got an update from uscis saying my card has been ordered.

Yipeeeee no more paperwork for 2 years

  2. Hi Buddy sorry to hear about your delay, i was in the exact same situation, i had my interview on April 20th 2011 and I was actualy told i was approved and should receive my visa within a week but there might be a slight delay due to the Royal wedding which was understandable, after waiting 2 weeks or so i called back to check the progress and i was told i was put in AP but they would not say why.

Unfortunately it was just a case of waiting and waiting and on June 1st I got approved, i was worried i was not gonna make my Aug 5th wedding date.

One thing i can suggest doing is getting your fiance/e to write to his/her local Senator who will be able to investigate the delay, this sometimes triggers attention and may speed up the process.

Hope this helps and GOOD LUCK

  3. Hi I am in exactly the same situation, my interview was on April 20 2011 and i was told i was approved and i should get my passport back in 10 days with the brown envelope and i even paid extra for the courier service.

Ten days went by and i didnt receive anything so i called the embassy and they told me to email them after giving me a code that i have to use, anyway i emailed the embassy and they said that yes i was approved but my case is now going additional administrative processing and there is no time frame for this.

My wedding is booked for August 5th and im not sure if im going to make it. I asked them if they need additional info and they said if we do we will contact you.

So here i am just waiting and sitting for them to do what they have to do even though i was told i was approved.

I have just got my fiancee to write to her senator to see if that helps but i doubt it.

The best u can do is call the embassy to get a code so that u can email the consular and see what they tell you.

Where is your fiance/e originally from? what religion? does he have a typical Muslim name?

  4. did any of you have their passports kept by the embassy or did they give them back to you and ask to send them in later? mine was kept by the embassy and i was not told i was in AP.

I was told that i was approved and should expect my passport in about 10 days, well i have not received it and when i emailed the embassy i was told i was in Additional Administrative Processing.

Now im confused because they have my passport and i asked them if they need anything else from me they said no not at this time and if they do they will contact me. So could it be that they r just waiting for name clearance?

mu wedding is on Aug 5th and i have a very bad feeling im not gonna make it.

  5. Emailing with a code gives you the better option to get information from an actual officer who can look at the details of you case. The person who answers the visa line at the embassy usually doesn't give information you can rely on. I've heard too many stories of wrong information. I called them one time while I was in the UK and got incorrect information.

Why haven't you called DOS back to see what their info says? If you weren't born in the UK, and I don't think you were, there is a higher liklihood of Additional Processing. I know many people who were told they were approved and then had AP. The interviewer found everything in order to his satisfaction. That doesn't always mean you've cleared any final security checks that can be done before the visa is actually issued. When you call DOS make sure you clarify what they mean by the letters AP. Sometimes it's used to mean Admininistrative Processing which could just mean paper shuffling to print the visa, assemble the brown envelope and pass it all to the courier.

When I went to the interview with my fiance, the computers were down so they said they couldn't do the final security checks until they were back up and he wasn't sure how long before they were fixed. When I called DOS to inquire, the first thing she told me was "it says you were a no show at the interview, what happened?" I assured he we were there, so she said "let me check a different page." Then she said by looking somewhere else she could see that the visa had been printed that afternoon. What I learned from that is security checks come after the interview and there's more than one screen to look at to dig into what's going on. She could have not taken the time to dig and hung up after looking at the first screen. In your case, who to believe?? Difficult to tell, so keep asking until you come up with an answer that says your visa is printed.

Hi Thanks for this, your right i was not born in the uk so this could be a possible.

I can confirm that the AP meant Additional administrive processing as stated from the email. I also sent them an email asking if they needed anything from me and they said nothing at this time and if they do they would let me know.

My wedding is on Aug 5th and i am so worried im not going to make it in time.

I called DOS and they said its in AP and this could take min of 60 days but sometimes a lot less, i have given up on who to believe.

If i could start from the beggining there is no way on earth i would ever do the k1 again i shoudl have just done the CR1 and my baby could have been here with me whilst waiting.:(

  6. Thanks to all of you who responded to inquiries over the past few weeks -- on Wednesday Feb 16, Fatima's interview at London UK embassy was successful, and I am now visiting her in London to celebrate and plan out when she can move to Portland! (future posts will be in the regional section, about moving!) For now, I just want to thank the VJ community for your support.

Blessings and good luck to all of you,

    Doug B

    hi Doug

how long did it take for her to receive her passport? was she put in AP?

  7. Hi All

I just wanted to share my experience with others and see who else has had the same problem in the UK.

My K1 interview was on APR 20TH 2011 and i was told that i was approved and paid my courier fee but told there may be a sligh delay due to all the holidays and the additional holiday for the royal wedding.

Anyway, i still have not received my passport after almost 10 working days tomorrow, so i emailed the embassy on FRI and today i got a reply saying that my case was in AP and they cannot specify when my visa would be issued.

I then called them up today to see if i could speak to someone and a very nice lady spoke to me and said well if we have your passport then thats the last stage of the process, if i was in AP they would have told me at the interview and not tell me i was approved.

She then went a way for a short time and came back and told me that she checked my file and it stated that i 'FAILED TO APPEAR FOR THE INTERVIEW' which was obviously not the case as the embassy has my passport.

She then gave me a special code to email the consular and put this code in the subject field. She stated that without this code they dont really look into detail at your case.

So i have emailed them back with this and now awaiting a reply.

I am totally confused now because......

    1. why would they reply to say its in AP which means they obviously know i attended the interview.

    2. i called DOS on FRI they said it was approved but not yet issued.

    3. well if the lady said im shown that i did not attend the interview then point 1 does really make sense.

who the hell do i believe?

    DOS

THE 1ST WMAIL FROM CONSULAR WITHOUT CODE

THE LADY ON THE PHONE TELLING ME TO EMAIL WITH THE CODE

    Anyone else experienced this problem?

    please help

  8. I didn't email them at all...I just spoke to someone over the phone. The lady I was speaking to was confused as to why I was listed as not attending, so she called someone else...not sure if this brought attention to my passport. I also told them my reason for panicking about not getting my passport back soon....not sure if this helped with it. I am sorry that you are still waiting for yours. I really hope you get it soon....waiting to get it back almost seemed more frustrating than waiting for the other notifications.

It is so frustrating yes as its the final hurdle! well lets hope i get a reply soon and will let people know.

I suppose its worth letting other uk VJERS know about this process

  9. Yep, I got it this morning. On Friday it was listed on the couriers website, I called them and they said it was in transport from the embassy to the depot. This morning the doorbell went at about 11 and I just about hugged the guy because I was so grateful.

Thats great news congrats, i guess had you not called you may still be waiting. I think its the code that everyone needs to actually make contact with the embassy.

So did you email the embassy with the code in the subject field and they called you back or emailed back?

  10. I called on Thursday and was told the exact same thing. I got really nervous thinking that this was going to cause a delay because they didn't think I attended. The next day the courier website had a date for my passport to be delivered. My interview was on the 26th and I got my passport today.

I forgot to say that later I was told by London that it takes 2 weeks to update the system and this is why I was listed as not attending.

Have you received the passport yet?

  11. I called on Thursday and was told the exact same thing. I got really nervous thinking that this was going to cause a delay because they didn't think I attended. The next day the courier website had a date for my passport to be delivered. My interview was on the 26th and I got my passport today.

I forgot to say that later I was told by London that it takes 2 weeks to update the system and this is why I was listed as not attending.

well at first i emailed them without the code and they said it was in AP, but the lady said that it cant be in AP because they would not have kept my passport.

She then told me to email back with the code and now im waiting, so you think it should be ok now?

this is obviously a common fault then!

so u called and got a code to?

  12. I called them today as i have still not received it and the lady went to check on my file and she said that its shown on my file that I DID NOT ATTEND THE INTERVIEW AND FAILED TO APPEAR' she was surprised and said thats obviously not the case as we have your passport.

She then also gave me a code to put in the subject field and email the consular, she stated that 9 times out of 10 without a code they dont really check into detail on your case file.

So just waiting for a reply now from consular to see why they think i did not turn up.

BETTER HOPE THEY HAVE CCTV IN THE EMBASSY LOOOOL
