Perhaps "post" here means "mail" ?

My interview went smoothly and great! It was painless and I wish I didn't worry so much.
Excellent! Glad to hear it!
-
Aahhh, that was our mistake too! Hope it gets resolved quickly for you!
-
I also called and left a message in Toronto, but I got a call back within 2 hours, and my appointment was within 2 weeks.
-
In the week before the threatened Government Shutdown, I was checking appointment dates (for the fun of it), but that week, I started to get the message, "there are no appointments available for your trip purposes" and that persisted all the way through. The people who are getting this message are not able to see ANY available dates, or to book any appointments. It's very frustrating but we're all hoping for everyone that it's just an internet/program glitch that's getting fixed. Some members have been able to book dates after spending hours refreshing the page...

Yes, I also got that sheet of paper with the same statement. I wouldn't worry - the paperwork is just a confirmation that all is in order

Nope.. unless you physically move and change your address to a location that Vancouver Consulate serves.
^ sad but true
It's really not right.

I have my visa in my hands (well, next to me on the table)!!
The CSC website never showed me that it was available, in fact, now it pretty much tells me I have no reason for an account. Instead, DHL emailed last night and called this morning.
I will be married and on my way to a holiday in 3 weeks!

Yeah, it's my understanding the "help" is only for if you used an attorney (that's what our attorney said anyway).
-
I gave my passport to the consulate at my interview, and they held on to it, congratulated me, gave me my welcome letter, and said I should receive my passport back "in about a week". This morning's phone call to the DoS might've been a mistake though because DHL just emailed me to say they have my passport and it'll be ready in the next few days.
I was born in Holland and have a Dutch passport, and Canadian permanent residency.

I've got everything ready to send as soon as I hear that Packet 3 has been sent, I just wasn't sure where the DHL part fell into the timeline. Thanks for clearing that up!
As soon as Packet 3 is sent you could *technically* sign up for the CSC website to scope out interview dates (though lots of folks seem to be getting the "no appointments available" line) but you should not book a date. When you go through to confirm an appointment, the system will have you pay (if you choose the K1/K2 option) and also sign up for DHL. Actually, the Packet 3 I received instructed me to send my paperwork to Montreal with DHL, but by then, I'd already sent it all with ExpressPost... didn't seem to hurt the process much...
-
Thank you! Your good luck may have gotten me my DHL email as well! I wonder if they send them out en masse? I can't wait to have it in my hands.
-
So, the DoS was probably confused - DHL says they've got my passport and gave me a waybill number in an email. Just a few more days

One girl at my interview came back from the first or second window saying her medical results hadn't been couriered over yet - it sounded like she'd had her medical in Montreal recently...
-
They didn't ask for the separate MVR receipt - the account page shows a reference number and the amount I paid...? It's the only website print out I brought for proof of my appointment at the main consulate doors, and proof of payment at one or two windows...
No passport yet The DoS said I was in AP this morning but I hope they're just confused.
-
I also got email confirmations each time I cancelled an appointment and booked a different date. I never thought to print the emails off - I just chose "My Account" on the CSC website and printed the whole thing off because it had my date, the address, and the proof I'd paid already. This is the form I took to the interview - parts got circled and highlighted at a few different windows but it looked like it was enough...
-
Probably payback for making wedding plans...
-
Just ravis so far, (on this site, anyway). When I called the DoS this morning, they said I was in AP
-
I called the DoS this morning and was also told I was in AP. I guess I should've known... I was born in Holland.

No one checked either the yes or no box next to "has the beneficiary (or whatever) ever been convicted of a crime)?"
So dumb.

Hi folks, I have a question for a friend (really, truly!)
She and her husband are going to try for DCF and she's filling out the I130 and question #15 applies to her, the non-USC - Name and Address of Current Employer and also dates of employment. The question is tucked between "If your relative is currently in the US, complete the following: (how did they get in)" and "Has your relative ever been under immigration proceedings?"
So, does the question only apply if she's working in the US or do they want to know who her Canadian employer is right now?

It's my understanding that the validity period of the police check is not necessarily relevant, as long as the date that it was issued was less than one year before your interview (as far as the consulate is concerned).
-
The validity date doesn't mean a whole lot as long as you continue to take steps to pursue this visa - if the consulate, the DOS and NVC have not heard anything from your end by 8/12/2011, they may assume you've abandoned your application.
If you submit the paperwork you're supposed to but then your interview date falls after 8/12 or something of that nature, the validity period will be automatically extended. Good luck!

Your situation is a little complicated but the most important thing is that any and all divorces are legally finalized BEFORE you file any K1 papers, or before you sign any marriage certificates.
The fact that your relationship started before a legal divorce was processed is not a major obstacle for the immigration process as long as the paperwork shows that you are legally single and free to marry before applying for anything else.
I don't know much about how to bring a child over on a K1/CR1 but because your girlfriend was technically married to someone else when she had your child may require paternity testing in addition to the paperwork to bring him/her along.
