  1. Rebooking people, especially adults, doesn't always bring out the best harmony. Even if you shout 'I love you' in the wrong tone the recipient might not appreciate it.

If you must correct people, especially not your subordinates, you have to put it in a way that doesn't potray you as being better than them.

Yes, whining doesn't help anyone but implicit verbal abuse perceived from correcting whiners doesn't help either.

Having said all that, let's focus on the goal - to get all immigration approvals needed for our various cases - and not to fight fist fights.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Much love,

    kmankind

  2. I know the immigration rule is to get married within 90 days of fiance(e)'s entry into the US.

Having said that, I had a conversation with someone today that said a US Citizen Fiance could go to abroard to marry his fiancee after she gets the visa and that would fulfill the requirement to get married within 90 days of fiance(s)'s entry into the US.

Put differently, If I travel abroad to my fiancee's country, AFTER she receives her visa, and marry her over there, then come back together to the US, will I still need to re-marry her within 90 days in the US? Can I simply use the overseas marriage certificate to file for her adjustment of status? Please help.

  3. My Fiance is in America and she is close to her K1 visa expiring. Due to uncontrollable circumstances, we are unable to get married before her visa expires, so what is the penalty if she stays and we get married 2 weeks after it expires?

Not to be mean or anything like that, I suggest you ask your work for 2 days off. Any reasonable employer will give a couple the chance to get married even if those z2 days are going to be without pay. I personally will give an arm and a leg to marry my fiancee if she wouldn't mind me walking on one leg and having only an arm. I mean, literally.

Unless its for a health and life or dealth reason, there shouldn't be any excuse not to be ble to marry in 90 days. I apologize if I sound mean but I just couldn't read this without saying a word. I wish you the best and pray your condition improves so you could marry before the expiry of the visa. I'm sure you understand.

  4. Also Lagos does NOT mail out pkt 3 or 4 you can go to the dept of state website and download pkt 3 and start working on it now. If you already have your NVC case number from the NVC call them to see when it was sent to Lagos if you dont have it still call them give them your receipt number on your NOA1 and they will give you your new case number. They will also let you know when your case arrived there and when it left there headed for Lagos. When did you get your NOA2? If it is recent you might want to wait about 5days before you contact NVC for the aforementioned information. Once you know it is enroute to Lagos wait about a week then email the Lagos consulate for an interview date. It normally takes them two weeks to get back to you. Once they email you back with the interview date that is considered pkt 4 your interview date.Pkt3 will also be in that email which is the link to download the forms that I already mentioned you can download at the Dept of state website. Good LUck if you have any more questions pld do ask!!!

    Welcome to VJ!!!!

    Congrats on NOA2!!!!

Just looked at your timeline and noticed you got your NOA2 on Jan 26th so yes contact NVC and they will give you your new case number and it is possible your case is already in Lagos. Also FYI the Dept of State can also tell you if your case has been received in Lagos and if an interview date has been set....hope your not too confused.....

You're incredibly helpful. Thanks and God Bless.

  5. Thanks everyone that reponded to my questions. I'm indeed grateful.

I managed to get through to NVC this morning, shorlty afer posting my questions, and got my NVC (LGS) number!

I've since emailed Lagos with the information.

Thanks also for clarifying the Immigrant vs. Non-Imigrant thing. That was driving me nuts even though I knew the difference and expected K1 to be Non-Immigrant. Now I understand that it's treated like Immigrant visa.

I cant't thank you folks enough. All I can do in return is to be a regular contributor on this site so as to help others in the future.

    regards...

    1. K1 is a non-immigrant visa but consulates generally treat it as an immigrant visa. When you contact the consulate you should contact the immigrant visa department.

    2. The NVC case number is the LGS number. The NVC assigned this number when they routed your case to the Lagos consulate.

    3. It is the LGS number. this is your case number with the department of state assigned by the NVC and used by the consulate.

    4. My fiancee is in Singapore and the consulate there sent her a package of papers to fill out about 2 or 3 weeks after we received the letter from the NVC. I don't know what the timeline is for lagos, but if the procedure is similar as the one in singapore then you don't need to do anything except for wait for the packet from the consulate. Someone with experience from the lagos consulate might be better at answering this last question.

    Thanks a lot!

Hello the K-1 visa is non immigrant visa but the Lagos consulate will treat it as an immigrant visa because it will lead to a green card

when one adjust status in the United States. Therefore you should email LagosIV@state.gov. The other email address is for people

applying for a tourist or business visa. The NVC will send you a letter informing you that your approved packet has been sent to the embassy.

The letter will state the LGS number on it. After you receive the LGS number you can email the embassy to find out your interview date. The

embassy works with the LGS number. You can call the NVC at 603-334-0700. They are open until midnight and it is good to reach them

at night. I hope this helps........GOOD LUCK.

    Thanks a lot. Very helpful!

  6. Even though you got married back in your country you can still file for divorce here.

In fact, I don't believe the divorce you file in your country will hold here in the US. I may be wrong about that but I know you can file for a divorce here irrespective of where you got married originally.

Unfortunately I don;t have answers to your other questions but I think, technically, you could be out of status if you stay away from the US for more than 6 months while you're on GC.

  7. Yes, cases at VSC have been pretty frustrating lately. I suggest you call the number on your NOA1 and get them to open a case for you. When you call, first respond to the automated prompts like you don't have a receipt number. Then you'll be routed to a live support person. Then give the live support person your receipt number and request (politely) that you'll like a case opened for you. I said politely because whoever is taking your call is definitely not the one responsible for processing your case.

Even without the case opened, I have the feeling that you'll get your approval this week, if not today. This is based on the fact that I got my own approval at about 4 days to 6 months. Things are have been pretty slow at VSC but patience is your only option when you're dealing with anyone that holds all the aces in the card pack. Trust me, I know what it feels like to wate a single day after 5 months. I got to the point that I had nightmares every night shortly before we got approved. I could barely eat; for real.

I wish you the best of lucks. There light at the end of the tunnell...

  8. Thanks everyone for reading this. I will appreciate all helps can get from you good people of the world.

I waited for 6 months before getting the NOA2 approval of my I-129F (K1 or fiancee). NOA2 says to contact the consular office in LAGOS (Nigeria) for visa issuance. I've been on able to reach anyone in Lagos and all emails I sent resulted in auto responses. I called the Lagos numbers (posted at counsular section here on VJ) all night from here in the US (morning Lagos time) but all lines were ringing busy.

    Here are my specific questons:

    1. Is K1 an immigrant or non-imigrant visa? I've been getting conflicting answers on that question.

I ask because I need to know which of the auto responses from LagosIV@state.gov of LagosNIV@state.gov I should be following. I sent emails to both of the addresses when I didn't know the correct classification of K1.

    2. I had tried to contact NVC (not sure if I called the right number) but the auto responder asked for an NVC case number which I didn't have. How do I know/get the NVC case number for my case?

    3. I read a post on here that said to call DOS for the consular case number for the case after receiving NOA2.

I guess the consular case number is the LGS number for Lagos. Is the counsular case number (LGS in my case) the same as NVC number?

    4. I'm trying to avoid further waste of time on my part, after waiting 6 months for NOA2. What can my fiancee and I do now that we have the NOA2 and couldn't reach anyone to determine what to do next? What do we do to keep the process going? My fiancee is prepared to go to the consular office in LAGOS in person but the auto reponse emails said not to come in person.

I'm totally confused and I need your help.

Thanks and God Bless you all.

  9. My NOA 1 date is 7/29. I just got back last night visiting my fiancee for two weeks and contacted sentor's office just before i left as it was the 5 month mark. USCIS sent a letter to senators office saying that it is still within their processing time and asked to contact them in 2 weeks later as they are processing application received on 7/16. Mine is 7/26. Now i am shooting towards early february.

Your response and timeline is very encouraging. My NOA1 date is a day after yours and I'm almost going nuts waiting for NOA2. In all honesty,I dream about this every night and wake up multiple times to pray hard about the processing. I get more scared each time I read on here about people waiting for 6, 7 months. This is turture at its best. I don't know what else to say but I give it all to God to wrought His miracles ....

Let I forget, what's the email address of VSC. Maybe I should send an email also. Honestly I don't think all those emails work. I may be wrong of course ....

  10. Since I am 5months and few days over I called and they told me the same about the July 10th lecture.

Like you folks, I'm 13 days over the 5-month magic number. I called yesterday and was really frustrated by the agent who also quoted the automatic "we're processing July 10 filings"

She then forced me - literally - to listen to some messages some of which were printed on the NOA1 form. She would start from the begining of the readings each time I interrupted her to say a word or two albeit politely.

One thing I remember though was that the agent had to place me on hold to call another set of people who told her to relay the message to me about July 10. I asked and spoke with a supervisor who apologized for the delay in processing. There was nothing else I could do than thank him and end the call.

I can hardly sleep or eat these days but having said all that, I've come to one conclusion: stressing does not move the envelopes. Stressing about all these things is like winking to a beautiful girl in the dark - she wouldn't even see you to notice, talk less of, appreciate your motives.

Having said all that, my NOA1 was dated July 30 and I noticed that that the last 4 approvals reported on this forum at VSC had NOA1 dates earlier than mine - by a couple of days. I guess we should find ways to relax and worry only if this reaches 6 months with no NOA2. Weird as my theory or proposition may sound I submit that it's about the only way to keep our heads and remain sane.

As a naturalized citizen and with over 16 years of filing one petition or the other, I've learnt that things only get done when 'they' (the processing center) are done. I honestly believe they hardly lose files. It could happen as they are humans too but I'm yet to hear of one case that went into the system without an eventual outcome - positive or negative.

Like you all, I miss my fiancee and will sacrifice an arm to have her next to me right now. Like the saying goes, if wishes were horses even beggars will ride. Let's remain prayerful and hopeful that the processing speeds up. Good luck everyone!

  11. I'm of similar timeline as the original filer of this thread. Also touched on 10/03/10. Yes, I do believe the process is nerve racking especially because we long for our spouses. Patience seems tone the only solution, I guess. Having said that, how does one reach a live agent to talk to? I called customer support line listed on the NOA1 several times without finding any option to talk to alive agent. How do you file a complaint or reach a live agent to, at least, hear something about why the petition hasn't been approved? Thanks in advance.

Oh, I found the e-Request link on USCIS site.

Will wait another week before sending any e-Request.

I pray and hope to be approved this coming week along with other July filers.

    Good luck everyone.

    Cheers ;-)
