  1. the other members post should be very helpful to start with, the only other advice I can give, is to start saving documents like Skype conversations, phone bills, boarding passes and hotel reservations from when you saw each other, remember must have been within two years.

You may never need the stuff, but have it ready !!

It is easier then you think, just stay organized. And double check everything you send. I screwed up and forgot to send the back of my divorce, and it slowed us down 30 days.

You will need pay stubs, letter from your job etc.. They are more concerned that you can support your spouse when he/she gets here. Philipines is not on a "watch list" of scam marriages from what I see, you should have no problems.

Magadang Umanga, if I spelled it right.

  2. My Fiancee and I went on vacation in Europe, instead of trying to have her come to the USA for a visit, and had a great time, She is in Brazil and I in New York, we went somewhere neither of us had been. Portugal, Spain, and Rome. I agree with the other post that says coming to the USA may not be a good idea. I would think they (immigration) may feel your Fiancee may never leave. (I know I would have kept mine here). But if you meet somewhere else, it is more like a vacation and the departure at the end would not be a painful !!

  3. The face to face meeting is important, and required as someone else said within two years. However keep all emails, phone records, receipts for Western Union if you send her money. Remember in some religions, you can't even seeeach other ! And those get approved. My Fiancee and I met in Europe in the winter, it was very cheap for both of us to fly somewhere else, instead of me flying to Brazil, which is expensive during USA winter. You may be able to do something similiar.

    Good luck !

  4. I'm very nervous because I hear different things about contacting the Congressman to inquire. Im over my 5 months but according to the USCIS I am still in normal processing time and they cannot do a service request.. Call next week but thats the same thing they said they week before.. *sigh*

Congress has a specific employee/Liason at the USCIS. This is a normal part of their daily routine. GO visit the local Congressman's office and speak the staff their. We did this and the office worker has been really helpful. USCIS told us 60 additional days for papers to leave the USCIS. Congressman called on Friday the 23rd of May, and suprise !! They forwarded our papers the next day !! So I would go that route, make friends with them, they are awesome.

  5. Questions

    Please Help!!!

So I’ve been in Cali more than 5 months now (Canadian) and had no intentions of staying; my damn apartment’s in Toronto’s been empty this whole time. Anyways I met someone and she now wants to get marry me and I decided to do it as I do love her and I don’t see why not!

I want to give her a nice planned wedding in a few months rather than doing it in a rush the next few weeks so not to have overstayed my 6 months here. But we’re a little concerned about the gap if we decide to leave it for later… Also my car has Canadian licence plates so I’m constantly worried about getting pulled over. I thought of just driving to Vancouver or even Mexico for a few days but I read that it’s 6 months per fiscal year (the fiscal year ending and restarting in September); so I guess another option would be to leave now and come back in September? (still worried they might not let me…). I don’t know if it matters but I never got a I-94 slip in my passport when I drove through the border in December.

Another option is me trying to find a job on a TN visa in Engineering (I have my masters in Engineering so I’m hoping that’ll make the marriage and maybe the TN easier and more accepting). But what if I get a job offer only after the 6 months? Then maybe it wouldn’t be allowed right? Then I might as well leave and apply abroad and come back with a TN…?

She think its best for me just to stay and marry in a few (3-4 months) and take the risk. She’s been reading about the K1 and K3 visa’s and we have decided not to do the K1 as it’s weird and longer. I can get a work permit in a few months I heard, and this is really great as I’m going crazy not working but I audited a course at USC last semester..

My friend and I have also thought about partnering up in his business as I do (volunteering) work for him (technical and engineering work). Could I do that? Or could he just hire me as an employee. The business was incorporated more than a year ago and I don’t think it has had much revenue flow…

We want to stay here for another year maybe two, then we’re moving to Toronto to my apartment there.

I would really appreciate your ideas and help. Thank you very much

I cant answer all of your questions, but if your girl is in California, you may want to consider selling the car to her, and register it in California. After 30 days, you may run into a problem, but most Police Officers wont bother you, unless the car is seen in one spot for a long time. Check to see if your insurance covers driving in USA. Hope this helps one part of your list !! (I am retired Police Officer)

  6. What is the typical timeline for a petition approved in Vermont to go through the NVC and then forwarded on to the manila consulute? I was approved on the 2nd of May, should i give them another week before trying to call to get a case number? Also, will they mail me a letter with the Manila number on it and is it the same letter my fiance will get so she can take her medical exam? If so, if i faxed her the copy of that letter before the Petition gets to Manila, could she take her medical exam even though it has not got to Manila yet? Can airplanes fly without wings? and is brocoli considered a fungus?

I cant answer the last two questions, but we are in same situation. I was told, sometimes the paper is on the way within a couple of days from Vermont to NVC, and you dont get update till after they leave the NVC. Now everything goes real quick from what everyone has told me !
