  1. I had the same concern about a lost RFE. In the past, when we have visited our local service center (Hartford, CT), things always seemed to get moving shortly afterwards because they will call Vermont and find out the status of the case and try to get some sort of answer for you. It's like the old addage: squeeky wheel gets the grease. It seems to me that the phone call gets your record found and pulled out of the pile and then they just process it -- but who really knows...

you are right math man, and I see your logic as convincing.

then again I see these worries about RFE lost in the mail, and you building hypothesis based on the fact that we never see under the hood what is really going on, etc etc.

let me tell you, it is fun to put yourself in those shoes and run a simulation of the extreme case.

however you are not in those shoes, as believe me, they would have let you know, if you have failed the RFE answer after all that time. and if you are lagging in your response they have many ways of directly contacting the applicant or interested parties and get to the bottom of all this.

so take it from me: no news are good news in our cases.

it seem odd to be the singled out application, in the approval list (while left and right you have only approved cases) or to see that your file hasnt been touched from the day they received it(there is no LUD on mine since end january :)

then again those guys work in a chaotic way, and therefore fall behind expectation that people have, of a computer based technology functioning government.

they might as well come after 9-10 months (totally late) and say, it was a technical mistake, here is you GC, so shut up and dont forget to pay your taxes.

It is always good to keep an eye on the disfunctional government (not that this will change things anyway) as for them we are just numbers and we are treated as such!

so leave out the unknown variable (and the emotional one) and rewrite this equation, describing USCIS chaos, at its best :)

I am sure our files are in the right office as we speak

    soon again

  2. Green card ordered!!! We had received nothing by mail or e-mail, and I just decided to check the USCIS web site to see if it was updated, and there was a post on 7/19 saying that the green card is in production!! Guess that means we're approved!

Congrats to everyone who has gotten it already, and we'll be thinking of you all who are still waiting -- looks like Vermont is making their way through the piles!! :-)

  3. I entered my NOA receipt number. I don't remember what were the options, but I stayed on the line before a gentleman took my call. He asked a few question pertaining to my inquiry, then he passed the call to the next lady.

In you case, you have passed 30 days. No problem. Keep trying to call the service center.

There is no mail for me today.

I'm not sure how far you all live from your local field office, but when we had problems a couple years ago when we first went through the process, I got alot more accomplished when I went in person -- they get on the phone directly with someone with your file. There's probably a few ways to get success...that's just what worked the best for us and thought I'd pass it along.

  4. Hello Fellow January Filers!

I haven't been on the Forum in FOREVER (that 2 year paperwork break was nice), and now I'm back on here. Sent my stuff in early January (I think Jan 5th) and had a sent next day with USPS. Got my NOA sometime while I was on vacation (Jan 12 or 13) and I now have my Biometrics appt in Grand Rapids on 2/14/11 - what a romantic way to spend Valentine's day, right?

Crossing my fingers for no RFE - but I was sort of lazy and didn't include a tax return, but I included one in the last package. I'm SURE I'll get an RFE now that I've just mentioned it. Any ideas on what they're looking for here, besides the obvious 'are you still married'? We had another much bigger wedding after the quickie wedding and I was sure to include the invitation, thank you card and cards from friends. Then I included a few bills in both our names, a letter from my employer stating my husband is listed under my health and life insurance, pics and travel documents of our trips together. What more could they want?

Good luck to all - it's nice to have people to gripe to about this never-ending process.

I read alot that they like to have shared mortgage or lease papers...It looks like from the NOA that you can still send stuff in if you feel like.

  5. #######! I just realised I didn't change my address with USCIS and this might be why I haven't received my NOA. Grrrrr!

Ojay -- we changed our address last year but still received the reminder at our old address. So we went up to Hartford to figure it out, and they told us that they would use whatever address is put on the I-751 application - so if your new address is on the app, it should be okay???

  6. Well, our check cleared the bank yesterday (signed for in the office on 1/19)!! Guess that means everything was put together correctly. Phew. Now, we are hoping the NOA goes to our new address rather than the old one (where they sent the reminder to) -- we went to the old apartment and left a gift card to D&D with a note asking if they could please call us if they receive anything!!

  7. Happy New Year, Everyone!

In a few weeks my husband and I will be sending in our petition to remove conditions form (751). We moved between the time my husband received his conditional green card and now. We filled out the change of address form online, but now I'm wondering if there's any way to verify that the correct address is in the system. I'd hate for any of our filing for removal of conditions to be delayed because of this. Similarly, I know that in the guide for removal of conditions on the VJ site it says very clearly that USCIS does not send out reminder notices, yet we have friends who claim that they received a notice reminding them to file for the removal of conditions. This further adds to my worry that our address has not been changed in the USCIS computers. Any way to verify? Stories welcome. Thanks a lot.

    Hello!

My husband and I filed both our forms a year and a half ago for address change. I receieved my receipt, and we have been told several times that they do not issue a receipt for AR11....the online print out of the confirmtion is all there is. The only way to verify is to get an infopass appointment and go to your local field office. Thank goodness we kept our's because last week we received mail that was originally sent to our old address. :bonk: We went to our local field office, and they told us, "we don't know what to tell you because your current address is in our system"... We wanted reassurance that the biometrics, etc would be received at our current address. He said that if we put the new address on the 751 then there "shouldn't" be a problem. Ya know, it's really aggrevating...to try to make sure everything is done correctly and then get brushed off. Soooo we have our fingers crossed!!!

I wonder if anyone else here went throught this??

If you figure out the answer to your question, please let me know. The whole change of address thing has cost us money and whole lot of time and worry.

    Hi,

I was just curious what you went through with the address change. If you see the post I just made, we ran into some problems, and don't know what to expect ahead. In the end, any error that is made will be the USCIS's responsibility, we have our receipts, but like you said, time and money....

    Thanks

  8. Hey Everyone!

We will be sending in our paperwork on Monday (90 days started Jan.2). We changed our address a year ago but received the I-751 reminder (didn't need it anyway) to our old address with a paper saying that we needed to file our AR-11, which we already did and have the receipt. We went to Hartford today to make sure everything was okay before we send out everything. He said he didn't know what happened but that after we submit the I-751 with our new address on it, we "should" get everything at our new address ~~~~ and then sent us on our way~~~~~~ that was not reassuring :-( So, I guess we shall see what happens!! (fingers crossed for no problems!)

    Good luck everyone!

  9. Hello Everyone!

We are wondering if anyone else has had this experience, and if so, what you think about this:

My husband has his Conditional Green Card, and we filed AR-11 a year ago when we moved (after approval). We are about to send our I-751 paperwork in, and just received mail that was sent to our old address, mailed back to VSC, then somehow to us at the new address -- with a reminder of I-751 with another form saying that we need to file our change of address. We have our receipt, went to Hartford, and was told that they "don't know what to tell us, that our new address is in the system". They said that when we file the I-751, that will update our address (?!! then what's the point of doing it with AR-11), and that after we file, we will now receive mail at the address we put on that application. They had no explanation about why this happened.

Has anyone gone through this, and in fact DID receive biometrics and Permanent green card at the correct/new address?

I don't feel convinced......and worry that we will not get fingerprint notification in time.

    Suggestions??

    Thank you so much! :-)
