  1. No problem :)

You may apply for the State ID at your Secretary of State Office. Bring the following when you go there:

SSN (you must bring the original card)

    Passport

    Marriage License/Certificate

Proof of Michigan residency (documents that will show your name and address on it like utility bills, credit card statement, bank statement, pay stubs, mortgage or lease agreements, health insurance, etc...bring at least 2 of these documents)

and money for the fee...I don't remember how much we paid but it's not that much.

Here's the link for more info

Thank you very much for the helpful info ;)

  2. This is not true. I am also from Michigan and I was told the same thing when I had my biometrics. The woman even told me that she would not grant me a green card if she was the immigration officer handling my case. I was very worried, so me and my husband went to the Secretary of State’s office to inquire on how to go about changing my name only to be told that I cannot do it (at least at that time) because I need to be a resident of the county for at least a year before I can file for a name change. Although still very worried, we decided to rest my fate in the hands of my interviewer. My AOS interview went very well and surprisingly, there was no mention about the name change. I have my green card as well as my other IDs (SSN, State ID, Driver’s License) with my maiden name as my new middle name.

I don't understand why they keep on bringing up the name change issue in that office. I know of another filipina who was told the same thing and she didn't file for a name change also but passed her interview. So don’t worry about it for now. Just make sure you prepare well for your interview.

    Good luck.

Thank you very much for the info. It did help me calm down on the name change matter. If you don't mind, I want to know how you applied for your state ID?

  3. I was Samanta Figuera Matuguina, when I got married I filed my AOS and EAD papers as Samanta Matuguina Roma. When I went to have my biometrics done here in Michigan, the adjucator told me that I can't have my maiden surname as my married middle name cause in Michigan, only my surname will be changed. I want to know who have experienced this. Thanks in advance!

  4. Hello guys. My children were scheduled for interview on July 1st, so I am going to Manila second or third week of June, and I am still trying to book my flight ( maybe someone can suggest a good airline aside from PAL). I have been away for 4 years, and I dont know now what to expect or not to expect, or maybe nothing has changed much really. Anyway I will truly appreciate any replies, any tips, especially at NAIA.

    Thanks!!

    ezzie

i think you're trying to ask about a cheaper ticket fare going to MNL right? not outside the country yet?
