  1. As per the USCIS it is the date on the green card. You can confirm here: http://www.uscis.gov/early-filing-calculator

As a side note, what are you petitioning for her mother? If it's a tourist visa, be careful because she cannot be here for sole purpose of baby sitting, USCIS sees that as work. I know it sounds ridiculous and I have worked on such cases but US immigration laws are never based on common sense.

ugh that sucks!i thought it was the date from which she first entered the U.S. or at least from the day we met the condition of getting married :( so another year of waiting then...

no not as a tourist..we want to get her to live with us.

  2. i petitioned my wife using a fiance visa. when she got here on may 16 2012 and we got married on july 28 2012. now she got her green card a year later and it says there that Resident since: 8/21/2013. from where do i start calculating here 3 years to be able to apply for U.S. citizenship. Is it from the first day that she entered the U.S. OR the day we got married OR the date on her green card that says resident since 8/21/2013??

really appreciate your info on this thank you!!!

we dont wanna waste time and file this as soon as we can coz we want to petition her mother ASAP as we need help with our 1 year old daughter. :)

  3. Alaska is in the United States, so no immigration controls there off and on. If you enter Canada, the AP card and her passport get her back into the US. If her passport name is different than the AP, take a marriage certificate to show the name change. It all depends on the excursion whether a passport is required. A train from Alaska, crossing the border by land into Canada, for example would be a border crossing. A hop off and back on the boat may not if the Canadian port is not checking documents. Take everything in case.

she may not be able to enter Canada. Depending on the requirements of her country a visa may be needed as Canada makes special rules for people that hold a green card but your wife doesn't have one.

yes but the cruise docks into canada a couple of times then to alaska. so basically as long as my wife stay on the boat she is gonna be fine and wont encounter any problems correct?

  4. hi there! im not sure if this is in the right forum so you can move it if needed and i am sorry in advance.

ok. i recently petitioned my wife on a k1 visa and she arrived around may 16 2012 and we got married july 28 2012. we applied for our AOS around August together with the EAD and Advance Parole. We received our EAD and AP around november. Now this june 22 we are going on a Alasan cruise together with our family but as you can see we dont have green card yet only the AP and the EAD.

    1. i am just wondering if will we experience any problem when trying to get back to the US?

    2. Do i need other documents to bring so we wont have any problems?

    3. is it ok to travel on this cruise with only this documents we have which is EAD and AP?

    4. When we dock to alaska or canada can we get off the Cruise Ship or should we just stay on the boat?

    5. are there anyone who has done this before or had same experience and went successfully without a hitch?please share your story.

any advice i would greatly appreciate it.. thank you!!!

  5. yes and im dumb!we are trying to set everything up now i registered her already last night. they said its 7-14 days upon the medical date right but what if i go with just the minimum of 7days would that be ok?

thanks for the help guys i wouldnt have known!i appreciate it very much :)

  6. Big question!do i have to wait for the packet with instructions from the cconsular?or i can just straight up apply?because if it is so im dumb because ive had our MNL case number for a month now.

and also how many days do we have to wait after her medical to be able to get an interview?can we do it a day after the medical?

  7. Clearly it appears you have a MNL#. Get her Medical completed at Saint Lukes in Manila. That is your next step. (She should have a copy or MNL# for the Medical and Interview) Show reciept paid for medical, ID, Visa Fee etc.

Then, her Interview and if Approved allow 2 weeks for processing with her Visa in Hand.

Having a MNL# from NVC is not a Visa and or Approval.

Looks like things are going good for you. Good Luck!

Get the Medical done is your next move.

all of her papers are ready since its listed in their website but theres no packet yet. i should wait for the packet right?yes i have a MNL#.

We never received word that the visa had been received at the NVC, or transfered to the embassy and nothing from the embassy to my now wife when they got it. If not for phone calls, we would be waiting yet today. Get your Manila case number, pay the interview fee, set up the interview and get her to the medical. IF everything goes right, you could have visa in hand by May 16th.

do you remember what phone number you had to call?

  8. Hi again guys!

sorry again for this questions but im starting to worry again. On feb 22,2012 i received a letter saying that "within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate vissa-issuing post". My question is what is next because until now we havnt received any word from them. Should i call them?

i also have a planned vacation going back to the pilippines for 3wks thats when im gonna pick her up April 25- May 16. Do you guys think thats a feasible time that we would be able to get her visa and be able to bring her here in the US?what do you guys think?

    thanks in advance!!!
