  1. alright it looks like we were the first couple to get approved WITH an interview. Our interview was this morning. Arrived at 10:15 for a 11am appointment. They were running about 45 minutes late..... so it was just time to wait.

The interview was pretty painless, asked a bunch of questions..... all from our application, like address, names, parents' names, etc

Then asked how we met, when/where we went on our first date, how he asked me to marry him. Then he asked for photos, he looked over 19 photos from the time since he arrived until today, we explained them as he went through them. Didn't want to keep them. Then asked for anything to prove we live together. Gave him a copy of our lease, cell phone bills, electricity bills, bank statements, and copies of our health insurance.

Overall it was VERY painless. We were a bit worried we were going to get the crazy interview, because at our embassy interview the guy said, "there are many flags here that I could use to hold up your application, but I won't today". So we were really prepared.

He congratulated us and told us the next step in 2 years then 3 years after that about becoming a citizen.

I think the whole interview was probably 30 minutes max.

  2. So anyone else did there Bio appt last week or earlier? The hubby did his on the 2nd and nothing has been touched since. I understand it takes time and such, but dude just touch my file, so I know we are sitting under a chair holding it up.

We didn't even go in early, because I knew they wouldn't touch the file until that date anyways...... *sigh* I just hate waiting and not knowing. I am totally cool with waiting if I know they are actually working on it!

  3. It just seems wrong to REQUIRE the 2010 taxes considering we don't actually have to file them until April 15, 2010. Hoping we don't get the same RFE, since I can't do my taxes until after I return from the BVI's to get my British Letter from the accountant (the form of W-2's) which won't be until the end of February.

Good luck with finishing up the RFE and wishing the rest of us not to get one! Heading to the Bio appointment tomorrow morning, woohoo

  4. There is a doctor in Kent (30 minutes South of you) that does the transcribe of I-693 for $35 cash. You bring in the paperwork and it will be done in about 10-15 minutes.

Let me see if I can find his name again......

    Kent, WA

Dr. Efren R Caratao, Easthill Medical Clinic

    10413 S.E. 244th Street, Kent, WA 98030

    (253) 852-2770

I am pretty sure this is the guy, the phone number will have a recording for immigration stuff, it has the wrong price though.

  5. When submitted our AOS the end of December. Even after reading all of Vanessa's info (which BTW was AMAZING), we put in only 2 photos. That is all I had around the house left and I wanted to get it mailed and not wait another day. Earlier this month we had an InfoPass Appt to expedite the AP, and the IO asked if I submitted pictures with the AP, I said no, he said ok.... we got the AP the other day with his picture on it from his K-1 visa.

So really I would say it doesn't matter a great deal, if you have 6 pictures put 6 in, if you have 2 and want it to get in now, then just put 2 in.

  6. We needed to expedite his AP as we needed to travel out of the country soon. I contacted the Immigration Liaison at the local Senators office and she has been a great help. She also suggested we make an InfoPass Appointment since it was such short notice. Kinda to hit them on both sides.

Had our InfoPass appointment this morning, and the IO worked on trying to see what he could do. He let us know that they are working on it, and while he can't promise anything, he was trying!

Called the Liaison back to give her an update, and she said she was still going to send the paperwork from her end also. So it is nice to see someone trying to help us out. After all the people we had to deal with in Barbados thus far, I have to say the local IO are much nicer!

  7. Ok so I am trying to expedite an I-131 (Advanced Parole). I talked to my Senator's Immigration Liaison and along with her talking to the California Service Center, she recommended I make an InfoPass Appointment. Basically trying to hit it from both sides, since we need it in like 2 weeks.

So I am on the InfoPass site and it says they give appointments for 4 reasons and I have to pick the right one. But our request doesn't fit into any of these really.

    The choices are:

    -Order from Immigration Judge

-Case processing Report (received a letter to appear)

    -EAD issues past 90 days

-Case Services Follow-up (but it says that it has to be over 45 days since I contacted the NSC

So I am just not sure which one to pick. Any help would be great!

  8. ok now I am feeling left out! We technically filed in Dec (the 29) but our NOA's are from January 6. Which makes us a January filer. And we haven't gotten out Bio letter!

The only touch I have seen is on the 14, but I think that is because of me... its the date I was able to finally add them to my account, to stare endless at them.

My life is so sad these days.... even our the MLK weekend, I kept checking the site, just hoping something would happen/move. Even though I knew they weren't open.

  9. we do have a ssn with the restriction fro DHS stamped on it. I tried with chase bank, maybe I will try with another.

    Thanks

We had this problem 2 weeks ago. The first bank refused to open accounts for us because my husband's SSN has the DHS stamp, I tried explaining... but nothing. Went to Chase the next day, and had no problem opening the account's there for both of us. What we did instead of giving them his SS card, we gave them the number, and 2 pieces of ID, his passport and a state ID ( I know you don't have the last one), does the Immigrant have an ID issued from the country they are in, like a driver's license that has their picture on it?

    Good luck!

  10. Alright so I know you are all going to say relax, but really that is the last thing I can do today.

So we sent in my hubby's AOS packet (from a K1) last week. We sent it Overnight UPS on the 28 and it was received on the 29. But it says it was signed for by reception *sigh*

And yet, we still haven't received any email/text notice saying they have gotten it. Yes I know there was this holiday thing and all, but still the check hasn't made it to the bank.....

Just wondering how long to wait before I try calling them to see what happened?

    Thanks for letting me vent!

I have been reading around here for almost a year and you guys have been crazy helpful, finally figured I should start posting my own questions.... and I have finally have enough knowledge to start answering other people's questions *:)
