My GC expires on July 22 and we applied on April 27. I think we're within the 90days so we should be okay. And if not, they'll just send it back.

been hunting for 4 months as well. living about 1hr's drive from boston and 20min from providence. struggling to find work in my field (data analysis, market research, statistics)...

it's really really frustrating and also a little humbling. i'm glad i'm not the only one. i'm sure the right job is waiting for us but staying positive can be really tough sometimes.

Nice to know i'm not alone in the job hunting thing. I'll have been here for 1year next week. I have a 4yr degree in Statistics and Math and I've been working in market research for 4.5years. Back home I'd've snatched up market research jobs in no time but man am I stuggling here. Thinking of doing degree in teaching (secondary math) here next year cos I did a bit of lecturing and tutoring while at varsity and it's always been a secret dream to become a teacher. But I'm worried about financial implications.

Right now I'm looking for every type of job from contract to permanent data analyst jobs to part time cashier and babysitting/tutoring jobs and only a few interviews to date. and i've just landed a job working saturdays and sundays handing out samples at Shaw's supermarkets just to get some american experience on my resume.

Is it ok that I'm feeling really down in the dumps about this? I have to keep reminding myself that I came here for love and all the right reasons but staying positive while job hunting is really really tough...

I had to remove my nose ring as well and, sadly, I couldn't get the *insert expletive* thing back in again ... It was a fairly new piercing. Now I have to get it redone. That was a very sad day for me...

well we've had our interview already. on the 25th of may and the dude just said they have to do additional background checks and then we should be all set so we're waiting for that. it's been just over a month now . trying to be patient and forget about it. *breeeeathe*

i hope we get some good news too man.

h4kim, where are you working? i've been looking but still can't find anything. been on a bunch of interviews and everything. bleh!... trying to look for something in my field (statistics) but it's not that easy. probably gonna have to settle for something part time. bummer.

it'll be 1 month on the 25th. i hope i dont have to involve congressmen ... and we're supposed to go home in october to have another wedding for my family and friends there... fingers crossed!!

No they didn't ,but I think because we had some red flags, 20 years age difference, different race, we didn't date for long time before got married. But we are both alike, I mean, we behave very similar, and so on.

Interview took like an hour, and I.O was keeping me inside around 40 min ,ask how bunch of questions about us,apartment, etc. but my husband the most 10 minutes and didn't ask that much about our relationship, just few,but the rest was about our jobs, because he didn't work for the last year.

have you heard anything new yet? our interview was on the 25th and we didn't get approved either. we didn't get a letter that said "further review" but the IO said that they need to do some back ground checks and we needed to complete something on our medical form. everything sent in now we just have to wait.

well kinda ... the stupid immigration doctor forgot to check ONE TINY LITTLE BOX!!! (can you believe it) and they have to do a full background check cos for some reason they only submitted half the form or whatever. so have to drive aaaall the way back to boston once to drop off the paper with the ticked box. but the fellow stamped "approved" on the formy so i think we're pretty much 'A' for away.

just a quick run thru of events. boston parking suuuucks. we parked like a 15min walk away from the place. got there 20min early. when we got called in the dude said he was gonnna take hubby in first to chat to him for a few min then he'd come get me. man did i freak out! i was not prepared for a stokes interview. but my husband's a super star if he hadn't been there i'd've puked everywhere. anyway, five minutes later the dude came and got me. he seemed nice but professional. not overly chatty. and thank the lord by the time i sat down all he asked me were the general "yes/no" questions on the form. aren't those a laugh? and that was that. afterwards my husband told me that he asked him mostly bout my family (mom, dad & bro's) and what they did for a living and some stuff bout his own family. and then he took a peek at our gazillion pics and got thru half way and then went to get me.

now i know he stamped "approved" and he pretty much said it wont be too long for the check and if i get the doctor form in soon but i'm still trying not to be negative and think the worst. just gotta breathe.

anyway, that's my story. please oh please check that your doctor checked all the boxes man (esp part 2 question 1). it's really an unnecessary hinderance. i hated the dr and i was so glad to be over with it. i can't believe i have to go back there. bleh!

anyway, that's my story. please of please check they checked all the boxes man (esp part 2 question 1). it's really an unnecessary hinderance. i hated the dr and i was so glad to be over with it. i can't believe i have to go back there. bleh!

whoop!! great news on getting ur interview notice. it is a little nerve wracking. i'm going to be a wreck on the interview day. and my parents are coming to visit us for a month and they land on the 24th and the interview's on the 25th. so i'm making 2 trips to boston in one week. hehehe...
