  1. Thanks for all the replies and the helpful information.

Ant, my baby is 16 months! I should call her a toddler now but she is still my baby : ) I will definitely bring them both along. I am sure neither will be happy as my interview is at 7:45 am next Friday. But I would like them there for support even if they have to sit in the waiting room. Good luck with your interview!

    Hi Andrea,

Congrats on the baby! If you don't mind me asking, how old is your baby? When is your interview for citizenship?

In answer to your question: Yes, you can bring your baby and your husband, as it does not say you can't do such. In fact, I have my interview this week (in three days..on Wednesday Nov 18...yikes!), and I'm definitely bringing my husband and 3 month old baby along! Lol..It's also due to the fact that I need my husband to drive me there (it's a long distance drive, and I don't drive in the city) and there is nobody else to look after the baby, so have to bring them both for practicality reasons too...lol...(USCIS doesn't offer babysitting...so my husband has to babysit....lol......)

However, from what I've read from other vjers, only the person applying for citizenship is allowed in the interview room, and all others have to wait in the waiting room/area. So the husband and the baby will just have to wait in the waiting room instead (and I have to hope that the baby doesn't make too much of a fuss there). In some cases, the interviewer might want to see the husband and the baby, so if they want to, they can see them there too...And yes, I believe that brining family helps, as that is more of a reason so show a "genuine relationship"...After all, what better than "human evidence" than some lame old piece of paper (it sure beats the heck out of tax returns.....lol.....).

Either way, bringing your husaband and baby is good, for moral support reasons too. I would certainly feel better if they were there with me....:)

As well, bring your marriage certificate and birth certificate of your child/children too, as they ask for such during the citizenship application, and will ask for that during the interview (at least from what I heard...).

Lol..now if only I can figure out how to bring the car seat and diaper bag through the metal detectors and get through security with no problems...lol....

I will let you and eveyrone else on vj know about my interview experience sometime this week, baby and husband and all! Stay tunned for more updates....

From one mother to another mother, hope this helps too. Good luck with the rest of your journey too.

Ant (bringing baby and husband to interview...)

Is it okay for my husband and baby to attend the interview with me? I thought it might be helpful as my citizenship application is based on my marriage but I am not sure if they would even be allowed in. It would be great to hear if anyone has experience with this. Thanks,

    Andrea

  3. I applied for citizenship back in April, went for biometrics at the beginning of May and am still waiting for the interview letter. I called USCIS today and was told that I haven't been scheduled for an interview yet and am still waiting for the security check to clear. It seems a long time to wait for the name check to clear.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

  4. I am waiting for my interview letter. My NOA date is April 22nd and it's going through the San Francisco office. My biometrics date was May 7. I got a yellow letter around 23rd June but nothing since. I called the USCIS helpline today and spoke to an immigration officer who said that an interview date has not been scheduled yet but that everything is fine and I just need to wait.

I am a bit worried because when I went for my biometrics in May, they refused to take them as I had just had them taken 2 weeks prior for a replacement greencard. They told me I didn't need to have them redone. I am concerned that this might have messed up my application somehow. It seems that nearly everyone who applied in April has an interview letter by now.

I would appreciate any ideas about what to do,

    Andrea

  5. I received a yellow letter today telling me I need to take additional documentation to my citizenship interview. It also tells me to be on time for the interview but it doesn't actually tell me when the interview is. I am presuming I will get another letter shortly giving me the interview date??

I am sorry if this question has been asked before. I seem to remember reading about it before but couldn't find any info. when I did a search.

  7. I have almost completed the paperwork for Form I-751. I was originally thinking that I wouldn't send in the affidavits from friends seeing as we have a lot of other evidence. However, the language used in the instructions implies that the documents we send should include the affidavits. Has anyone's application ever been denied or held up for not sending them in? I would like to put the application in the mail tomorrow but would rather wait a few days and do the affidavits if it might cause us a problem at a later stage. I would appreciate any feedback about this,

    Andrea
