  1. sassoon, what's your priority date and when did you get NOA2 from vermont? I am mid February 2011 and still haven't heard anything.

My PD (or rather my wive's) is Jan 6 2011. The I 130 application was approved sometime in June or July 2011. Then I got a letter saying now is the time for the next steps, sometime in November. In the course of 2 months or so we sent AOS and visa application, all the fees and documents they asked for. Now there is nothing left. I guess that saves us a couple of months when the PD becomes current and all these paperwork are behind they will just give us an interview appointment.

I am assuming NOA2 is the notice of approval for the I 130?

yeah i had the same issue but my mom had applied for me .. :( ...

i am done with my interview and had given all my documents to embassy

but my priority date gonna b current next month Insha-ALLAH :) :)

i hope i get my visa by end of march :( !!!!

You have been waiting for a long time. Wish you good luck. It seems that they will even call you for an interview before there is a visa number available? That is even more strange than our case I guess.

  2. I got really excited when NVC asked for Affidavit of Support, and later visa application for my wife's case. We sent in everything, even original documents (they didn't take notarized translations of marriage certificate, etc.). Then they said case is closed but there is no visa number, we have to wait for our priority date which is Jan 2011. That means a really long time to wait. Doesn't it sound unusual that the case is closed so early? NVC is holding my wife's original documents like birth certificate, our marriage certificate, etc... why did they ask for these documents if we had to wait for another two years or so?

Does anyone know of a similar situation? Is this usual? I didn't think so. but who knows...

  3. Hot Mama, thank you for the information. this is helpful. It turns out after all our case is closed, but we have to wait for our priority date. I thought as soon as case is closed and interview will be assigned, but... we have to wait a long time. But whenever that happens I will try to include myself in the interview, go to Georgia and be present at the interview. What you are saying makes a lot of sense to be with your spouse at such a critical juncture...

    Thanks!

  4. Hi.. sorry for the late reply as I havent been on in a few days.

Here is everything that we took...

Copies of all documents submitted to USCIS and NVC including all forms, proof of income, etc.

Additional translated & certified copy of Marriage License, Birth Certificates, Police Certificates etc.

Photos of all of our meetings and travels, photos of wedding and reception, and photos of me with his family and friends. I had these all in a scrapbook and place a few in the back that were not mounted to the book in case the CO wanted to keep a few for our file.

Phone records (select a few months since you began dating)

Email & chat records (Again just pick some from each month since you met)

As far as how the interview went you can read my detailed review posted on the Georgia portal. We were only asked a few questions...

    How did you meet?

Where I work, what kind of work I do, and how much I make per year

How many times have I been to Tbilisi

Have we ever been married before

Then he asked to see our pictures (I didnt give them to him I just flipped through some pages and he smiled and said it looks like we have had some great times together already!

Then he said we were approved! That was it!

They seemed to have all of the documents they needed as we did not have to provide them with anything. I would still take extras just in case though.

Thanks a lot for the details. How come you were both at the interview? Are they going to ask me to join my wife for the interview?

As for the documents, we sent certified translations to NVC (marriage, birth certificates for wife and her sone, and divorce certificate) but they said they need the originals. So we ahve sent in the originals too.

We have got skype and chat records and all, but they are all in Armenian because that's the language we speak to each other. I wonder if that's going to be a problem.

  5. I am an LPR, filed for my wife's I-130 (Georgian citizen) and it had been approved some months ago. Priority date is Jan 2011. Today I received PAOSF I-130, request to make a payment for Affidavit of Support. Looking at the visa bulletin there is still 2.5 years till my priority date becomes available. I was suprised to get the AOS fee notice today. Does this mean anything??? I thought it's way too soon.

  6. Hi all, I filed for my wife's I-130 in jan 2011. I am a permanent resident, and it takes a long time for this type of a case, as you all know.

In the meantime, I am thinking maybe she should try to get a tourist visa and visit me for 6 months or however long is the tourist visa. I spoke with a few lawyers and they all said she would probably get rejected for a tourist visa (B1/B2?) because she has a green card case pending.

Does anyone have experience doing this? Any chances of getting a tourist visa? Would be good to know if somebody has actually succeded in doing this.

  7. I am a green card holder, and just got married one week ago outside of the US. My wife leaves in Gergia and we are planning to file I-130 with consular processing. The question I have is, should I also send photographs and videos from marriage ceremony along with I-130 as evidence of bona fide marriage? Or does that happen at a later time? I am also planning to send affidavits from relatives on the bona fide nature of our marriage.

    Thanks in advance.
