  1. Take your own photos, here is how:

    http://www.epassportphoto.com/

Thanks YuAndDan.. I have found this website already and even did my own but never comes out right. I

Print out the photo requirements and bring those to the real photographer, not a passport photo place.

Thank you nickbits. I did not even thought of that. But you know I have called many photo studios even professional ones and they all said they cannot do it..

  2. IS tech in a university... do they offer you benefits if you take college courses in their university or any education related? Just curious....

Sorry for the late reply. Been busy with everything.. to answer your Q.

Yes they offer education benefits. If you are an employee they pay your full tuition if you want to continue your education. No matter what course/degree you want to take as long as you are employed by them.

  3. Hi,

I am an Australian citz and a resident of the US. My Aussie passport will expire at the end of next year and I am in the process of getting it renewed. My problem is that I have been calling all over the place in the city i live in if they take or do Australian Passport Photo's and none of them do.

I live in Bakersfield CA and I am about 2 hours away from L.A.

So my question is, would anyone know where I can get or go somewhere not too far to have an Australian Passport Photo taken so i can complete and send off my Renewal Application. I am hoping not to have to take a day off work just to drive to L.A to do this and I really am not comfortable doing an online order thing. I would rather go to the place. If i have to drive so then be it. But just need some suggestion from anyone where I can go that is close to Bakersfield CA maybe L.A? or FRESNO?

    Thank You

  4. I am told that Australia and California have a similar climate. Is that true...

Well it depends in which part of Australia. The city I lived in the climate is exactly the same as in the Philippines. I could say California and Sydney might have similar climate.

  5. If you are wondering why i have 4 flags well its like this LOL:

I am originally from the Philippines, lived in Australia for 12 years. I am an Australian citizen.

My husband is originally from Jamaica, grew up in the states and is a US Citizen.

    whew! :D

  6. I am not sure if there is a thread particular to this topic. I did not find any so I hope this is the right place to put this.

I am wondering if there are any Australian citizens here that have also taken the US citizenship (dual). I just wanted to know what the process or steps to take for this.

I am an Australian citizen but would like to become a US citizen without losing my Australian citizenship. I am doing this because now I have an 11 month old daughter and worried that if we ever go overseas and something happens (God forbid), that US embassy overseas would not help as I am not a citizen of the country and help my husband and my daughter go back to the US and not me. I do not want to be separated from my family incase anything like this happens.

ANy help or advice will be much appreciated.

  7. I am a Filipina living in Washington state. I have been here for more than a year but I only have one Filipina friend, My husband ntroduced me to her and she and her husband were very good people. I once attended a party for another Filipino here. My husband personaly knew her and they seem fine. At her house, she was always asking my husband about his ex-wife who happened to be her "bestfriend". I was so ridiculed and I felt I am not welcome to their house and party. From that point on, I never go to any Filipino get together. She was so rude and uneducated, they are also some kind of "socialite" and they are trying to outdo each other by having fancy clothes and gadgets.

I am just sad that there are Filipinos like that, treating their fellow kababayan like ######.

    Hi Ginalisa,

It is sad isnt it? I am also a Filipina and moved here in the states from australia. I have 6 close filipina friends in Australia but none here in the states. The attitudes of most filipino's that I know here in the states are not in my liking that I just stay away from them. You do not need friends like that. I do hope you will find fellow filipino friends that are good and kind.

  8. Australia allows its citizens to hold dual nationality. An Australian citizen may automatically gain citizenship of another country through marriage, while a permanent resident of Australia may become a dual citizen by becoming an Australian citizen. Prior to 4 April 2002, Australian citizens who became citizens of another country lost their Australian citizenship automatically. That's what possibly happened in your case. This was the same in Belgium prior to 2007.

I have not lost my Australian Citizenship as I did not get married to a US nationality until 2004. So I guess it is still possible for me to apply for US citizen and keep my Australian Citizenship. It is so complicated for me to understand of what process I need to take.

    I will figure it out.

    Thank You JustBob

  9. So I have a question, as I am also thinking of being dual nationality. I am an Australian citizen but born from another country. I do not have a dual citz with my brith country as they do not allow it with Australia.

I do not want to lose my Australian citz, but would like to also become a US citz. would this be possible?

JustBob what is a BBG application?

  10. I came from Australia and moved to California. The next day after I arrived (we were already married) my husband and I went to get my SSN. Then after that went to DMV. I did have to take the written test and pass it straight away. Because I already have an Australian DL DMV gave me a 3 months permit to drive on my own without my husbands supervision. After the 3 months I had to take the driving test. So before I was even in Cali for 2 months I already have my full US DL.

  11. Hi Everyone,

I am a new member here and I found this site while I was googling about citizenships. I am so glad I found this site as it answers a lot of questions.

I have been living in the US for over 5 years now but just like most of you I had to go through all those crazy paperwork process to get my visa to move to the states to be with my spouse.

We met in Australia when he was deployed there. He was in Australia for 2 weeks and from there we kept in touch and just went from there. After a year of keeping in touch we decided that I should visit the states just to see where our relationship would go. I visited the states and stayed for 3 months. Just a week before my visa expired we got married, so we did not had enough time to process the papers. I went back to Australia and he started to file our paperwork. He filed I-129 and I-130 but I was stupid and did not read the instruction for I-129 and sent it to the same address for I-130 and of course got lost. So w just went on with the I-130 and from the time it was filed (September 2004) I got my visa of November 2005.

Our wait might have been long but at the end it was worth it. We now have an 11 month old baby girl. Yes we waited to have a baby because we wanted to spend time with each other and just like waiting for my visa it was also worth the wait.

  12. It is just a notification that it has been received.

My I-130 took over 1 year to process.

I was living in Australia while my hubby was in the states. He was the one who filed I-129 for Fiance (which i was stupid to send it to the wrong address, which would have only taken 6 months). He also filed I-130 at the same time as we were already married (got married in the states). I-130 is longer to process. We filed I-129 and I-130 September of 2004. My Visa got approved November of 2005. Of course I had to go through medical examination in Australia then send that back to the states. I think it took long because everything I was sending of what they need was coming from Australia.

    You should be fine.

  13. Actually my wife has both invoices for the IV and AOS. The problem is on the website the AOS is paid and the IV is not paid wherein both were sent using the same envelope. My wife also talked to the NVC helpdesk and they are saying that IV is not yet paid. They even advised my wife to tell our lawyer to email them (NVC) stating that both payments for IV and AOS are altogether in the same envelope. Thank you for your input

Because you are paying two different invoices, were they suppose to go to the same addresses? Just a question, as sometimes they give you different addreses to send applications or payments.

Also, it is best for you to stay put and wait for your pending immigration visa rather than apply for tourist visa. It will complicate it even more.
