Hello,
My green card was ordered yesterday and I'm wondering how long it takes to arrive in the mail, approximately. I filed with CSC and live in Las Vegas, if that makes a difference.
I'm planning to travel out of the country in June. If I don't receive my GC by then, is an extension letter with my expired GC sufficient for travel to Canada?
-
Which service center did you mail to? Vermont or California?
Oh, California! Sorry, I forgot to include that part. Haha.
-
Card ordered for production! Yay! Sorry I don't have the dates for everything. If anyone's curious, I mailed ROC on October 31, USCIS received it on November 3, and I -think- I did biometrics on December 4.
-
Congrats to all who were approved!
Ugh, I filed mine on October 31st with CSC, did my bio in November but nothing since then :/ -
Ah, okay, thank you!
-
Has anyone who filed with CSC been approved yet? (It doesn't seem so...) I filed on October 30 2014. Did my biometrics in November and got an extension letter but not a peep about anything else. This is the typical wait for ROC, yeah? Sigh...

Hi VJers,
I completed my biometrics in November for ROC. Well, a couple days ago I had an accident at work and lost the tip of my thumb. Do I have to re-do my biometrics once it's healed? If I get an interview for ROC will this pose a problem?
Thanks in advance. -
I was fine with my unexpired green card. Also got there early and finished in 13 minutes... Yowza!

I mis-read the biometrics letter and mistakenly thought they only wanted green cards from naturalization residents, so I'll just use my green card. Thank you everyone!

This is the thing: If I apply for a new ID card, they're going to have to punch a hole in my old one or otherwise destroy it. The website says they mail ID cards. I think showing up to my biometrics appointment with a hole punched driver's permit and an expired passport is worse than showing up with both expired documents, untampered.
This is entirely my fault for being lazy and procrastinating on renewing my permit (passport I've put off because it's expensive.) -
I already stated that my passport is expired.
Trying to figure out if the DMV here (Nevada) will provide same-day state IDs...Edit: S'okay. The DMV MV website says it mails ID cards, but maybe if I go in person I can beg them to do it today? Hmm.

Hello,
I have my biometrics appointment for ROC on my 2-year green card (obtained through a K1) next Monday and photo ID is required. I have both a driver's permit and a passport, but the permit expired in August and the passport expired in April. Will they care that my photo ID is expired? I doubt the DMV will mail my new permit by next Monday.
If they require my ID to be current, what should I do?
Thanks in advance. -
I'm on my phone so I will return later to properly add my case to the timeline. I filed on either the 31st or 30th (I have to check my usps receipt) and the package arrived on the 3rd. No NOA yet... I didn't write ATTN on the package- do you think this will hurt me? :S i filed with CSC. The folder i put my case in and the cover letter identify it as ROC though.

Thanks for the replies, folks, that clears a lot up. I didn't know scores could be flexible like that. Also the distinction between scores and reports is important!

Sorry if this sounds rude, but is it legit? I only try the 3 credit companies listed on annualcreditreport.com. I don't want to get scammed. Pretty sure annualcreditreport is the only real one.

Hi all, I immigrated here on a K1 visa in September 2011. Since then I have obtained two credit cards, bank accounts at a credit union (joint with DH and my own account), taken out and paid back a signature loan, paid off medical bills, got and held a job, filed taxes, etc. However my SSN was issued after summer 2011 which if I understand correctly, causes some kerfuffles (it did with my background checks when I applied for jobs. Pain in the butt.)
I KNOW I have a credit rating because I applied for a mortgage at the bank and I asked them what my credit was and they told me. However, whenever I go to request my free annual credit report online it can't find me. I haven't yet requested my report over the phone or in writing yet, but I want to know what other VJers experiences are. Does requesting your report over the phone or through the mail yield useful results? Or is it useless? Is there an easier way to find out my credit rating?
Thanks in advance. -
Hello,
I'm getting ready for ROC on my green card which I received through a K1 visa, and the instructions for the I-751 seem to require at least two affidavits, but on the guide for ROC here it says they are optional. I have plenty of other evidence (lease, joint bank accounts, taxes, etc.); are the affidavits required? I can get them if need be, but if they're not necessary it's one less thing to worry about. I know it's best to err on the side of caution, though.
Thanks. -

Hi everyone, I'm back from the dead with a question.
I'm doing ROC on my two-year green card in October, and my Canadian passport expired last spring. Do I need a valid passport to file ROC? I looked at the ROC guide and it seems I don't, but I just want to be sure. I'm going to renew my passport before next spring, but if I could put it off till after ROC that would be nice since the renewal fee for the passport is quite hefty. Thanks in advance.

We weren't actively spying on each other so much as we had a jolt of morbid curiosity and found nothing. We had a good laugh about it. We both did it just on a whim and didn't look very long and then felt really stupid afterwards, lol. And we do trust each other... we've been through a lot of ####### together and came out stronger for it. And we've had previous relationships where people betrayed us, so I understand how potent our fears can be sometimes. But it's not a component of our relationship. Our relationship is plenty "good" with plenty communication and trust. And I highly doubt it's a cover up because his profile is almost completely empty but more importantly, he's never cheated on anyone, including me, and I just don't see him doing it.
We don't have rings and didn't have a wedding- it's not our style
-
Okay... it turns out it was just both of us being paranoid and signing up to dating websites and searching for each other to make sure we weren't cheating. Lol. Thanks again for the help anyways.

Okay, I think I understand now. I see there is a divorce waiver. Good to know I wouldn't get deported. Thank you.
-
You can divorce and file to remove the condition on your own based on a bona fide marriage. You would get a 10 years green card.
But to show that it's a bona fide marriage, wouldn't we still have to be married when I file for ROC, and show evidence from throughout those two years (up to the present) that we had a bona fide marriage? I'm just a little confused, I appreciate the help. Is there really a ROC option for a divorced previous K1 holder? I don't see anything about it in the VJ guides...
Thanks again. Sorry if I'm incoherent or not including all the necessary information, my head is spinning a bit.
Mistake on my N400
in US Citizenship General Discussion

Hello,
So I have my interview next week and as I was reviewing my N-400 online I realized I made a mistake, and I was wondering how big of a deal it might be. On Part 10 Question 8: It asks how many times has your spouse been married and I put 0 instead of 1. (I am filing based on marriage.) I think I was tired when I filled it out and thought the question was asking how many times has my spouse been previously married, not how many time they've been married in total.
Also, my spouse is not able to attend the interview due to an important work obligation that day, but we did ROC years ago and from what I understand it's not necessary for them to attend after ROC. Will that hurt my case?
Thank you.
