  1. I was just going to ask that. Too many post on same subject. They are really up a creek now that I have read. I will post what was found for future readers of this topic. Sad. They blew their chance.

"Failure to list all children who are eligible will result in disqualification of the principal applicant
and refusal of all visas in the case at the time of the visa interview."
Unless the child was born after you filed the application you has disqualified yourself by not following the instructions.
Don't try to cheat the system by lying and saying you don't have a child because a later petition for the child will result in a finding of misrepresentation and a loss of the green cards and deportation for anyone who obtained a visa from the lottery.

Too bad... Thanks for the information. I hope others will read this and learn.

  2. We have a cousin that applied for and won a DV in Nigeria. When she applied she did not include their infant son. At the time he was less than a year old and could not stand for the passport photo required for the application. (Of course they got bad information and didn't ask the right questions.(or me)) Fast forward they were advised they had won. Then at the interview on January 19 consulate refused to interview them because they had not included the child on the original application. What is their next step? They were given two forms. (1) DS 230 part 1-2 and, (2) DS 122. Is it possible to adjust the paperwork to include their child and if so how?

  3. Visa in hand now. Was actually ready for pickup on the 3rd day after the interview.

I'll go search/read Houston POE reviews but if someone has hints for me I'll love to hear it.

She had to use a Yoruba/English interpreter at the embassy so I'm not sure how that would work at POE and if they would have a Yoruba speaking staff there.

    This is all too surreal.

Congratulations on your approval.... My hubby came through Houston and got red lane his first time. However it was no big deal they saw the 10 pounds of shea butter he was bringing me. They checked his documents and his bags and he moved on to his connection. You're savy so you know how she should pack. He also said stay off the phone in the customs hall and baggage claim... The are very picky about that there. Enjoy your flight and again Congrats....

  4. Hello All,

I need some information on how to renew a Nigerian passport here in the US.

What I've found so far is extremely confusing. You either pay a $30 fee online and either a $65 fee in person.

Or you pay $170 online and a $30 fee in person. These are for my children and they already have a 10yr GC.

We'd like to send them to the UK for a week over the summer. The visa requirements for the UK are really daunting.

Does the fact that they have a GC make any difference for the documentation?

    Thanks for any assistance.

  5. To anyone that has been approved and getting tickets for their husband/wife....Please coming out of Nigeria make sure you get a direct flight to the USA...Had a friend that did not follow this advice and her husband got stuck in morocco for 2 days....then had to fly to JFK then missed his flight there and had to get on next flight.....also had problems with getting information about her husband and where he was or was not......just awful.....I say use delta....direct flight to US...also you are able to make sure he got on the flight also able to track the plane as its in flight.....you might pay a little more but its worth it...it would be eaiser to get to JFK or Atlanta then another country in case of emergency .....just my thinking....my husband is on his way home now from nigeria and i am able to track his every move....I called and they gave me any information i asked....very very helpful and nice...wonderful service....

United Airlines has a nonstop service to Houston. The hubbys flew them home and had a bit difficult the first time but that was due to a storm so he missed his connection. He was able to get change and asked for help in using the pay phone to call me.

The second time was flawless. Like you I personally prefer a US nonstop than an international connection because I would have lost my mine worrying about his first trip over.

  6. A big thank you to the last poster with the DNA THING as that has opened my eyes to a new thing,as i did not know kids require DNA testing and honestly was not prepared for that.

My situation is a little tricky here and i want advice from the house.

I am currently a service member in one of the US Armed forces and currently deployed on combat and i know where i am, i will never be able to get a DNA test.

But the thing is the US Govt has my DNA on their data as customary with all service members and if the worst scenario comes into play by them asking for DNA from my kids, would the Embassy have access to my DNA data?i know our data is protected by an act of congress but since its a governmental agency would they be allowed access to my info?

Has any military member in the US registered here gone through this process before?

The NVC has a letter from the US Military stating my combat status,so will they still require my kids do the DNA knowing i cannot be reached for anything?or would everything be put on hold until i am through with my tour of duty which would be in some long months from now.

Will really appreciate responses from people who have gone through this process or know anything,or somebody that has gone this process to give me an hindsight.

    Thanks all.

    Hi Sapele,

First, Thank for your service to our country.

As for your issue. I can't say you will defiantly have to have a DNA for your children(because of your status) however what proof have you sent for the interview?

I think at interview time they should have:

Proof of support(WU, joint banking etc)

On going pictures and letters to your family

A LETTER FROM YOU CO REGARDING YOUR STATUS

How comfortable will your wife be speaking up regarding your military status should she be given a DNA request letter?

Now should she get that request I would immediately write to the Chief Immigration Officer at Lagos asking for help.

In some cases they might intervene or at least respond.(my personal experience)

  7. We just completed this process. I paid a fee here $695 and they paid a smaller fee there of 7500 naira. It was well under $1000. Like Kazulie it was around 2 months The children picked up their visas this past Monday and got on the plane the same night. The lab here coordinated everything. They provided a tracking number for both packages(there and back) and as soon as it got to Lagos I sent an email. The odd thing was they dont give you the results.. it is sealed for the embassy only. Feel free to pm me

  8. my kids had their first interview oct first, requested a dna test that day. i paid for the test and had it on it's way to jamaica that day. we are just now waiting for a follow up interview this next week to see if they can now be approved. little hope that the visa will be delivered in three days after the interview. so unless we get it in three days after the iinterview, which is possible, they will not be here by christmas. my case was accepted by uscis january 2012. the dna test was a pain and slowed us way down. but i acted as fast as I could on my part,

How long does it take to get the results?

  9. Sorry to hear about the delay Ebun12.

Did the embassy give you a letter requesting the DNA in addition to the 221g form? That letter should have instructions on how to order the DNA tests. It is also what you will need to give to the DNA testing facility.

Typically (this is what we had to do and is what is on the NVC website) the DNA kit will need to be ordered from an accredited AABB facility in the states https://www.aabb.org...estAccrFac.aspx and then sent to the embassy or authorized medical collection site.

When the kit arrives then the embassy will schedule the collection. After the collection the swabs will then be sent back to the AABB facility you chose in the states to be processed. If your husband is stateside then I believe he can go and get his collection done at the AABB facility. They will be able to tell you when to do this. Then the results will be sent back to the embassy and then the visas can be issued.

I don't know if Nigeria prefers phone calls or emails but I was able to sped up our DNA by calling the Immigrant Visa line at our embassy and asking to be transferred to the Fraud Prevention Unit and then asking for the person in charge of scheduling DNA. When I called I already had the kit ordered and had the tracking number to reference when talking to the supervisor. Embassies are different but our timeline was DNA collection 2 weeks after interview and then results delivered to embassy approx. 2 weeks later. We are now waiting for the visas to be issued. If you have to email I would put Expedite in the subject line so that you can get an immediate response.

I suggest you look up a few posts in this thread to what meblue posted. Her experience is with Manila but I think still has a lot of useful information in it.

Good luck - one last hurdle and then you will be done with process :star:

I think the waiting gets harder the closer you get to a milestone. Do you have everything ready for NVC? Passport photos of your daughter?

Awesome information Thanks so much. I'm on that today!

  10. Ok this is what i've learned...

The hubby scanned a copy of the DNA request form to me and sent me the phone number he was given by the embassy.

I called the American Association of Blood Banks. I then forwarded the scan and started the process.

The lady told me for 3 test kits and processing and shipping, it cost $695..

They take a deposit of $250 cc or debit and you can make 3 monthly payments or, you can pay in full whenever. For the $250 they send the kit to the embassy

process the samples and return the results to the embassy and me. It will take them about one week to get the kit to the embassy.

On the letter the embassy form says it could take up to 3 weeks to get each appointment. The samples are collected and returned to the US for processing.

The hubby wants to come home next week so he will complete his test at a clinic not far from me. Then he will fly back there once they have

received the results for the final disposition. Looks like it could be another 2-3 months.

He said that the CO looked at the letters, school forms, affidavits and such but really focused in on the pictures.

Also he said they told everyone ahead of them to get the DNA test. I'm not surprised about the DNA test just feeling a little blue cause the kids will miss Christmas

So on the one hand the kids have to wait a little longer. While on the other hand he'll be here next week.

If any of this looks wrong please let me know..

  11. Hi Ebun,

The kids didn't have their interviews yet. I had I-130 interviews for them. Now we are off to NVC.

What part are you at? You said you weren't asked for a DNA test, but havens your kid had their interview yet? That's when they would ask for one. If you did have an interview and didn't get asked for a DNA test, what other proof besides their dad on the birth certificate did you have? Pictures? Anything?

    Thanks.

Their interview is this coming Thursday and I am about to pass out!

As far as what we put together I did an identical package for them as I did the hubby with a couple additions:

    Pictures of us all together

Essays from them saying why they want to come to America

Notarized Letter from their mother and a copy if her ID

School records from both schools that have their dad listed as the parent

That's it.Their father is in Lagos to prep them and attend the interview with them. Now back to :clock:

  12. Glad things are moving along BeeJay!!! I'm so excited for you!!!

I had our boys' I-130 interviews today....APPROVED!!! On to NVC! I am over the moon! They even said they were sending off the petitions to NVC even though their dad is still stuck. He got his I-130 approved last month but now we're waiting to see the immigration judge. At this rate, the boys will have their greencards before their dad! Ecstatic for us all!

That is fantastic news. I hope u you'll all be home for the holidays.

What questions did they ask the children. We didn't get a DNA test but the hubby is listed on the birth certificate.

  13. To those that have recently gotten your approvals, what was your wait time for your visa to be issued in Lagos?

My hubby got his in one week in Accra, but with the children's interview coming up on December 13th.

We are trying to guess when their visa's could be possible issued.
