1. I have 2 yrs green card based on marriage. I met her online when I was doing my masters degree program in Europe, later she came to Europe to see me which she spent two weeks with me. After she went back to the States, she said that she would like us to get married and live together. She also said that I have to transfer and complete my masters program in the United States, to be honest I agreed with her decision then.

She filed for me to come over which I was granted the K1 Visa. We got married after one month I arrived in the State. All her family members welcomed me and accepted me. She took me to some Universities for admission in order to complete my studies here. After we went through all the Immigration procedures, I was granted 2 yrs visa, then I started applying for jobs while waiting for my social security number. To my surprise, I came back one day from job interview she told me that her ex-husband wants to come back to her, that he knows about me and he does not want me to benefit from everything he left for her or be around his daughter. After some arguments between her and I, she asked me to go back to my country or back to Europe. That she does not want to lose her daughter to her ex-husband.

Initially, I thought she was joking until when my social security card arrived which I was supposed to use for job she collected it and refused to give it to me. She said that I do not need it, and I do not need to work here in the States. After everything she refused to give me my SSN. She asked to leave her house which I did.

She filed divorce within 5 months we got married. I called her recently she told me that she is dating another man and I should stop calling her.

My 2 yrs green card is conditional which will expire January 2013. I do not have any documents to prove for the marriage except my marriage certificate and some pictures because she refused to open a joint account with me and refused to include me in her health insurance.

Please I want advise on what to do based on my situation? Is there any hope for me to win this battle.

  2. 9ja, what did u do to her that made her to send you out of her house? How did it happen? Tell us the details. Meanwhile, sorry for this predicament.

To be frank with you, I did not offend her in anyway. she said she does not want any man in her life again. I happened to be the second man in her life. Her first husband abandoned her for another woman. She is very nice and good woman to be with but I do not know what came over her recently.

  3. You would be better off divorced than in your current situation because you probably won't be able to prove a bonafide marriage while you might be able to prove a marriage in good faith. How long were you living together ( same address maybe not as man and wife ) and how long have you been with your fellow Nigerian ?

I lived with her for seven months and I have been with my fellow Nigerian man just a month.

  4. Hi VJ friends and members!

I am here to seek your good advise. I am in a state of dilemma about my marriage. I came to the United States last year with K1 Visa and we got married immediately I arrived in the States. Things was going well between us till few days after our AOS interview, she told me that she is no longer interested in the marriage. I thought it was a joke until when she ask me to leave her house.

She orderd me to go back to my country, though we are not yet divorced. I have been living with her since I came to the States. I just got my GC and EAD cards and she does not want me to work. She refused to open a joint account with me, also she refused to put my name on other bills. Now I'm living with my country man that I just met and I just got a job. I called her two days ago that I will be sending her money to pay some of the bills but she refused.

Dear friends and members, what will I do to remove condition on my GC card in next two years. What are the consequences on my own side, will the immigration send me back to my country at the end of two years?

Has something like this happened to anyone before. Please help.

  5. Need urgent good advise, Please

    Hi everyone,

Has anyone attended AOS Interview at USCIS San Francisco office before?

I just received my interview letter and EAD card today. My AOS interview is next three weeks at San Francisco USCIS office California. The letter I got stated that we should bring all documents that shows evidence of our marriage, such as Utility Bills,Bank Account, Tax Returns and Insurance.

My problem now is that I do not have joint account with my wife, my wife has been paying all the bills with her name. I came into the states last september and I have not been working since then. My EAD card just arrived last four days.

The only documents that we can provide them now are, my birth certificate, her birth certificate,my International passport, our marriage certificate, our pictures, EAD card and Letters from USCIS. With all these, will they still need something else? Will they consider and approve our interview?

Please I need your good advise.

  6. HEY TO EVERYONE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.

I received email from USCIS yesterday stating that the production of my new card has been ordered, based on my Application for Employment Authorization(Form I765). But when I cheked my status online this morning, my current case status for (Form I485) Application to Register Permanent Residence Or Adjust Status still showing Request for Evidence Response Review. And no interview yet.

My questions are, Is this the normal procedure? Does anyone know how long it takes to process documents at National Benefit Center?

  7. I received an RFE telling us to submit the applicant's birth certificate issued by the appropriate civil authority. I submitted a photocopy of birth certificate from High Court in Nigeria which I obtained in 2007. I just called my people in Nigeria to get me a birth cerificate from my local government. The problem is that I was born at Ilorin in KWARA STATE but my state of origin is RIVER STATE. Due to my family has moved to my state(PORTHACOURT)and I do not have any body in ILORIN,KWARA STATE again that will help me for my birth certificate there, then I now ask my family to get it from my local government in PORTHACOURT, RIVER STATE Nigeria. Will they accept the birth certficate from my local government since I was not born in my state? Please I need your help I do not want my I-485 application to be denied based on this issue.

  8. PLEASE HELP, WHY IS AOS TAKING SO LONG?

I hope that someone will find enough time to answer my questions clearly.I received a mail from MSC Office on November2010 which they requested "initial evidence"(I-485).The letter stated that I have 87 days to respond to this RFE, fortunately I sent what they requested for(Initial Evidence) to them immediately. But to my surprise, I have not heard anything from them since I sent the initial evidence to them. Even my Case Status online still showing "Request for Evidence".Is this the normal way they operate?
