  1. Good morning!

My husband was approved for his conditional permanent residency in April of 2011 and at that time received his temporary green card. He recently found out he (we) will be transferred to another state for his job. In registering the move with USCIS, do we only need to file the AR-11 online? Do I (as his sponsor) need to file anything? I had read about an I-865, but wanted to be sure...

Also, is there any other agency we need to file with aside from USCIS, or will that cover all our bases regarding his green card?

Thank you so much in advance!

*I apologize if this is posted in the wrong forum

  2. I think we made a big mistake...My husband is also here on a TN Visa and we just applied for AOS, but in the packet we sent to the Chicago Lockbox, we did not include the EAD. We were under the impression that since he is already working legally (with his visa) he could continue to work until he received his green card.

I feel just horrible. How much of a mess are we in?

  3. Thank you for your quick response, juliava.

His meeting is scheduled exactly one hour after the scheduled time of the biometrics appointment, so I was wondering approximately how long the procedure takes to see if it would be feasible to proceed with your second option (as missing his meeting is absolutely not a possibility).

I wasn't sure if anyone here has dealt with the Omaha office to relate their experience, or knows about walk-ins. I've seen walk-ins mentioned in other posts referencing other offices, so just thought I'd check to see about Omaha but it seems I may be out of luck!

    Thanks!

  4. Good morning!

*Just to give you all a quick background, my husband (TN Visa, Mexico) and I (USC) are applying for an AOS.*

He received his biometrics appointment letter with an appointment scheduled at the Omaha office. He has a work meeting scheduled for that same afternoon and doesn't know if it would best to:

    1. Reschedule the biometrics (as the work meeting can't be changed), or

    2. Try to make it back in time for the meeting after the appointment.

Does anyone know approximately how long the procedure takes at the Omaha office? Do they do walk-in's? Or would he be better off showing up to his scheduled appointment a little early? I'm worried that if we reschedule the whole appointment, it may be put off until the following month!

I understand each office and case is different, but if you have any experience with the Omaha office or a recommendation as to what would be the best course of action, I would greatly appreciate it!

    Thank you so much!

  5. YuandDan, I'm sorry I wasn't more thorough in my original post.

We're applying for an AOS from a TN visa for my husband (I am a USC).

I just wanted to be sure that the $1070 fee for the I-485 included the cost of the biometrics, and along with that clarify how many copies were are to include.

Harpa Timsah, thank you for catching the mention of the I-130. We are filing an I-130 with the filing fee of $420, and also two G-325A's (for USC and non-USC).

We will send the documents (I-485, G-325 (for USC and non USC), I-864, I-765, I-130, and I-131 with only a single copy of each item, two checks ($1070 and $420), supporting evidence, and our photos in plastic bags!

Please let me know if there's anything I've forgotten!

  6. Thank you for your quick response!

They may have been referring to the old form...I know they sent in their paperwork a little over a year ago.

Just to clarify, we need to send a single copy of forms I-485, G-325 (for USC and non USC), I-864, I-765, I-130, and I-131 and then two copies of all the other necessary documentation (birth cert's, supporting evidence, marriage cert)?

Or two copies of everything that goes in the packet?

  7. My husband and I are getting ready to send in the packet for his AOS (hopefully tomorrow!) and someone just mentioned to us that we need to send in 4 copies of each document!? Can that be true?

We can't find anything about that in the instructions, but just wanted to be sure!

Also, the fee of $1070 includes the cost of the biometrics or is there an additional fee for that?

I'm sorry if these are ridiculous questions!

We just want to be sure we do it right!

  10. I have a question regarding the I-485 form...Under part 2, I'm not quite sure which section we should mark.

My husband is here on a TN visa and I am a USC. We were married in September and are now applying for AOS.

None of the listed options apply, unless we can choose option h (other basis of eligibility) and note that I am a citizen. Is that viable?

    Can anyone help with this?

    Thank you (in advance)!

    :)

  11. I'm sorry for not including these questions in my first posting (and for not posting in the correct forum! :) )

My husband (TN visa - Mexico) was born in England and has an EU passport, but his TN visa is posted (obviously) in his Mexican passport.

When we submit his birth certificate for the AOS, will it be necessary to submit both the British and Mexican, as his Mexican copy states he was born in England? Or will the Mexican suffice, since his visa is issued under the Mexican passport (which states he was born in England)?

Also, I've read postings of couples who were worried about marriage after the issuance of a TN visa...His visa was initially given in '08 for a year, renewed in '09 for three, and we weren't married until 09/10. That's fine, right? He still has two years left of TN status, but we'd like to begin the application for AOS & GC.

    Sorry for so many questions!

  12. I'm sorry if this question has already been asked, but so far I haven't been able to find it on the boards.

My husband (TN Visa - Mexico) and I were married in September and are now filling out the AOS paperwork for submission in January. I understand the previous fee for the I-485 of $1010 increased to $1070, right?

Is there a fee that I (US citizen) need to pay in my filing packet of the I-130 and G-325a? I had heard something about a fee of $355.00...?

Again, I apologize if this question has been asked before!

Thank you in advance for all your help!

    :)
