  1. AOS Interview yesterday @ USCIS Seattle. The officer who interviewed us was the best! He's the nicest, most accommodating person! The experience was so much fun, no stress at all.

I wish everyone here to have a smooth process... I know the "waiting" is such a pain, but I'm sure the approvals are coming soon... It's around the corner. I wish y'all the best! :)

  2. Green Card and learners permit came in the mail today!!! Green card was dated 07.29.11. That was the date of my fiancee's birthday!!!  Thanks to all the VJ members for all of the help along the way!! Good luck to everyone that is still waiting. I hope all of yours will be in your hands soon!!!!

Congratulations!! But, did you mean husband's birthday?!!? B-)

  3. No, it won't be a problem. Same thing happened to me last year. I have been in and out of the US working on cruise ships on C1/D visa and visiting my fiancé and friends on B1/B2 (tourist) visa in the past 4 years, never overstayed, and when I tried to get back in October after being in the US in August, they denied me entry and revoked my visa, was sent home, didn't even let me see my fiancé even for just a minute. I was totally honest about the situation, which I believe is the best thing to do. We applied for the K-1 Visa right away, got approved, and now I'm here married to him. I even met the same officers at my POE and were joking around with them and they congratulated me for getting married. Another case similar to mine about the same time as well (Channah&Aaron) shared her experience - go to this link.

    Good luck!

  4. Hmm.. Pretty interesting topic. Do you have a kid (or kids) with your USC husband who is/are in the Philippines with you? How long have you guys been married for?

The best thing to do is to be honest with the consul during the interview and bring all proof of ties that you have in the Philippines as possible. It'll be all up to the interviewing officer wether he/she approves you of a tourist visa or not.

    Good luck!!

  5. Had my interview today and was in and out in about 20 minutes! Wonderful.

Was sworn in with my husband at his desk. The officer asked only one question... "So you met at X place how did that happen?"

He then went through my i-485 application to make sure all the information was correct then asked for a copy of our marriage certificate since it got misplaced.

We bought oodles of evidence with us just in case - like joint bank statements, photos, insurance, phone bills etc and he didn't ask to see a thing.

Completely painless and easy. Said I should receive my Green Card in 30 days but I'm sure it will be much sooner.

    YAY! xxxx

WOW!!! Congratulations! Our local USCIS Office is Seattle, and now I really wish it was Spokane. Ha ha... The Seattle office didn't even let me do a walk-in Biometrics :( .

I'm so glad to see May filers starting to get approvals. This is awesome!!! B-)

  6. Walk-in Biometrics attempt today (USCIS Seattle) - failed! The lady at the reception said - "Unless it shows in your biometrics letter that you're allowed walk-in, then that's the only time you can walk-in. In your case, you have to stick with the date and time scheduled in the letter." Travelled an hour to get there and another hour back. We headed to the mall and did some shopping, so the trip wasn't at all wasted, ha ha... B-)

  7. Yeah, you kinda do. Well, you can get a DL or state ID but they will expire when your I-94 does, so it doesn't really make no sense getting it before EAD. You can't get an ID with an expired I-94. SSN is not enough, you have to prove legal presence.

I applied for my SSN 10 days after POE and received my SSN Card in the mail a week after that. I then got my DL a couple of weeks later and it will expire in 2015. K-1s are entitled to get their SSNs or DLs even before EADs or GCs are issued. Your state may have different procedures form the others...

  8. Hey Kezia!

Looks like we're on the same boat here. My time line is:

    10/2009 - met online

    11/2010 - came here on B1/B2 visa

12/2010 - first meeting in person in Chicago, IL

03/2011 - moved in with him in IN

4/25/11 - got married in Mitchell, IN

5/02/11 - sent AOS packet (I-130/I-485/I-765) to Chicago Lockbox

5/04/11 - AOS packet received by Chicago Lockbox

    5/23/11 - Received NOA for RFE (I-693)

5/27/11 - Sent RFE to DHS Lee's Summit, MO

6/02/11 - DHS Lee's Summit received REF reply

6/06/11 - Biometrics done at Louisveille, KY as per NOA schedule

6/24/11 - Received NOA for July 25 interview in Indianapolis

The NBC is in Lee's Summit, MO but your NOA for the interview should be able to tell you the exact USCIS Office nearest you..Las Vegas eh?

Good luck...let us know your experience.

By the way, to all members, in my NOA for my July 25th interview in Indianapolis, one of the docs listed was "any Government-issued photo ID"..which I don't have yet due to no EAD yet so no SSN so no state ID and DL and no car insurance inclusion (hahah!).. so I only have my valid Philippine passport to boot. I'd think USCIS would not expect me to have anything else? Any thoughts?

    Thanks and good day!

    prep.mac :)

Wow! Your interview came pretty quick... Congratulations! I sure think it's okay to show only your passport. However, bring with you a copy of your marriage certificate for proof of name change. I wonder why other states have different policies when it comes to getting SSN and Drivers License. Thank God I got both my SSN and DL without a sweat. I'm sure your EAD is around the corner... And not so long from now you'll get everything else... God Bless! (F)

  9. I'm sorry to hear about this. I honestly don't have any idea why they would want another one, but they may have lost the whole medical report, or who knows really? You may try to call USCIS to shed more light to your son's case. More experienced VJ members also might be able to help... Good luck! And congratulations, at least you already got your GC - that must be awesome!

Totally out of the topic, but I was just wondering if your son was assigned his own A# after you filed for the AOS? My 11 year old was assigned his own A# and my 5 year old is the same as mine... Just wondering what was up with that... Thanks in advance!

  10. I'm so sorry to hear this... Please, do what you need to do NOW before he tries to persuade you again and LIE to you even more. I've been with a man similar to him and I was fooled over and over and over. I was stupid enough for giving him chances after chances, but I eventually woke up from the truth and had the courage to let go and move on... I wish you strength to face this, it's tough...

  11. Thanks for this thread! It sure is very helpful. I have a quick question -- I came in on K-1 and my children on K-2 (one just turned 11 on June 3rd and one is 5). I got our NOAs and for some reason, my 11 year old was assigned his own Alien# and my 5 year old is now the same as mine. Before filing for AOS, I was the only one with an A#. Upon reading this thread, I'm starting to think that my 11 year old will be over 14 by the time he is eligible for naturalization, that's why he now gets his own A#... I'm not sure though, if this this the case... Thoughts, anyone? Thanks a lot in advance!! (L)

  12.

This nitpicking is silly. The OP got their answer and this is creating unnecessary confusion.

Excuse me? I'm confused on how this became "nitpicking"! I was just clarifying where the $1070 came from! I'm clueless on how my post became how you supposedly feel "nitpicking". If you double check the thread, you wouldn't see exactly where the breakdown of the total fee was. I just added and made it a point that the total fee was broken down into detail. I'm sorry if my clean intention of trying to help created CONFUSION to anybody nor has it offended anyone. Just trying to help. (F)
