  1. They basically did a "normal" body search like they do with the metal detectors. From what I remember from the YYZ airport when I can thru as a US citizen coming back to USA they do a search (regardless of where you from) and then you go thru another detector again. That is what i can remember to the best of my knowledge. Hope this helps.

  2. Sorry, yes listen to their advice. What i meant was add an extra hour to what they recommend for international flights. For example they say arrive 2 hours prior to your flight. And then add an extra hour to that, so 3 hours total to be early. :) Everyone else seems to say the same thing. No worries, just arrive what all you need and plenty of time and it will go smoothly.

  3. my husband went thru Pearson's in Feb and all you need is your passport and sealed envelope. I would arrive about an hour atleast ahead of time. Thats what he did and no problems. They did a full search on him and asked a few questions, nothing to stress over.

  4. I would really love some advice re whether or not we need a co-sponsor for my AOS application...

Here's our situation: My fiance did not make over 125% poverty line for 2010, he changed jobs and as a result was out of work for a couple of months. It didn't affect my K1 visa as all they wanted in London was the letter from his employer and 3 months of pay stubs, but I'm a bit concerned about it now...

He made approx $34,000 per year during 2008 and 2009, and now has a salary of $35,000 of which we'll be able to provide 8 months of pay stubs...

So basically we're good now, but 2010 is the problem.

So my question is are we going to need a co-sponsor as the most recent tax year earnings weren't enough? Is it something we would get an RFE for or would it not be brought up til the interview..?

I'm planning on including the 3 yrs tax transcripts, employer letter and 8 months of pay stubs to show his current earnings.

Any help, gratefully appreciated as always :)

You should be fine with pay stubs. I would recommend having his employer write him up a letter(like you mentioned above) stating his annual pay and how permanent or temporary the job intends to be. If its just you and him(and no children)within the household then $34k a year is above the 125% poverty level. I doubt you will need a co-sponsor but if you are really concerned, then it wouldn't hurt if you have a family member or friend who is willing to fill out the I-864 along with you. Hope this helps. We just sent in my husbands AOS and EAD paperwork the end of April and have his Biometrics interview coming up very soon. Make sure to send your paperwork thru a courier that you can track i.e UPS or FedEx. Its easier to track and insured if lost.

  5. Hey All,

Just a question about the biometrics interview...My husband is going for his biometrics interview next week and we are curious about what it consists of. He had his medical exam last September so we are fairly certain he doesn't have to do that again. Can anyone give me some pointers to relay to him of what to expect during his interview? Any further payments due then as well?

    Thank you :)

  6. What database is the SAVE database? I keep forgetting that its 14 "business" days rule. We will get the SSN soon enough I am just ready for things go actually go smoothly when he tries to apply for things. So far its been, "oh sorry, we cant find your information"....The only thing that went well was his interview. Guess we cant complain too much. thanks for the advice everyone!

  7. Hey all,

My fiance went today to apply for a SSN at our local office here in NC and they couldnt give him one now bc he isnt in the system yet according to the I-94. His POE date was 2/2 and if i can add correctly its been 15 days. Most people on here recommend waiting 14 days. They claim, either he isnt in they system yet or his date of birth is wrong, which entail more paperwork and waiting. Now I want him to have the SSN before our March 11th wedding, luckily here in NC you dont need a SSN to get married. I am just afraid they wont accept our AOS forms if his SSN isnt on them. Any advice on what we should do?

  8. i cannot believe it hasnt been printed yet. I bet you are going crazy. I was and it was only 3 weeks. nothing like the time frame you all are looking at....I wonder why it hasnt been printed yet. That is so strange. I wonder if they are putting you all administrative processing? I really hope not though.

  9. Hey all!

My fiance was approved for his k-1 visa and is currently in the USA on that visa, is applying for his SSN soon and we plan to marry in march. My question is...what all is involved with the AOS process? Do we attend another interview? The "Congratulations" letter isnt very helpful, all it states is to file the AOS paperwork after our marriage, of course within the 90 days. Is it really just a matter of sending in all the paperwork for the AOS and then wait for the greencard? Seeing as how its the USA government, seems like they'd want to make you work harder....

  10. Where is your consulate? We booked an appt at the montreal Canada consulate and if you are applying for a k-1 visa they allowed you to pick your date, we had about 3 different months/days to choose from. But keep in mind they only process certain visas on certain days. So check your consulate website and see if they have specific days they process them. best of luck :)

  11. Its unfortunate that there is a big holiday next week over where you all are. Im sorry this has happened (to the both of us) Just keep being persistant. That is my only advice, and eventually someone will listen and help. I would call the embassy and explain the situation so that you dont become illegal. Im sure this has happned once or twice before :) The best thing is to be patient. And trust me this is coming from the worlds most impatient person!!! ME!!! I will keep you posted on our passport status and hopefully yours will show up tomorrow! good luck!

  12. We have called the dos and it's been printed and in his passport since ye 14th. Our reference number doesn't give any help on the dhl website. It says no information for this reference number. We have tried calling montreal but they are unwilling to help. I am getting very frustrated and just want my fiancé here a our new home. It almost seems as if they gave us the wrong reference number or something.

  13. This similar situation is happening to us. We interviewed in Montreal Canada on Jan. 12th for a k-1 visa and still havent received my fiances passport back yet. He was approved and still nothing in the mail thru their certified courier service. We finally called the Department of State (DoS) just to make sure that we werent on AP. And we arent. Actually they told us that his visa was produced and put in is passport on Jan. 14th. Still havent received a thing and no one can tell us where or what to do/go. Its ridiculous. Try calling the DOS and see if they can help. My fiance spoke to a very nice woman that helped. He was transferred on the phone several times so its tricky getting to the right visa specialist the first time. Hope this helps, but you are not alone.
