What specific tests are required in the K-1 medical examination? Is a Tb test needed for kids? What about hepatitis? Does the consulate in HCMC always look at the exam results?

well a Blue Slip for us. they request 10yrs residence from both of us (which we already have but the CO didn't look at it). They also want a time line (the CO also didn't look at this). Lastly they want me to write an affidavit about my ex. Information about her birth date, birthplace, current address, phone number and how she got to the States (who sponsored her). I just have to modify abit of my 10 yrs residence, and time line. but for the affidavit about my ex, i know her current address but we haven't contact each other and I don't have her phone number. Do I just address that in the affidavit? I'm going to try and get these documents done in the next few days so I can send them to my wife. Can she submit the documents by next week to the VN consulate? because on the blue slip they gave us til March 30. And after turning in the requested documents, and if it gets approve do they give the pink right away or they contact my wife to come and pick it up?
Hi, is your ex also from VN? we have our interview in a few weeks and we have the docs below prepared. my only worry is my ex, although i did prepare a 10-year residence with her contact information.

Please remember that you don't pay US federal/state tax, but you do pay social security tax. Furthermore, income is defined more than just cash and includes housing costs and education costs (if you have kids in school there).

hey Logframe,
when did you submit your packet 3 to get the march interview date... and what day is it exactly.. just wanted to know so i can get an estimation of my interview date. thanx a lot
we submitted p3 on about january 13 and our interview is scheduled a month later.
i have a question. our interview is at 9:30am. what time must my fiance' be at the consulate? also, given that her interview is in the morning, is it typical that her interview would actually be on-time?
-
Hello Everyone. I have a question. My fiance' soon has her interview and we have a ton of evidence (10 kgs of chats/emails; photos; 12 trips together, including one to Europe; and our relationship is now 3 1/2 year old, she speaks English fluently, and she has no relatives stateside). I presume our red-flag is that my divorce was finalized just a month before we sent in the I-129F. I know, that could be a significant one. Anyway, we are nearly finished putting the evidence together, but I have a question. When my fiance' enters the Consulate, should she present our timeline (which is 5 pages long and notarized) and our 10-year residence histories on the top to ensure it's looked at by the CO? It seems that when there is blue, these are the documents requested. Many people come with these documents that are never looked at, then requested later.
Secondly, my fiance' asked why she needs to prepare a 10-year residency document when she already did that in one of the forms (I forget the name of it). Why is this? I just assumed it's because the form she completed may never be looked at.
I'd appreciate your help. Anyone in Saigon the weekend of March 18-20?

Hello, our interview is the end of March and I would like to know of a good reaonably-priced hotel nearby the HCMC Consulate (ie. something within walking distance). Thank you.

[You said it brother. They did say that SOS sometimes makes "adminstrative errors" but that they could do it anyway. If those mofos give us problems over this.......................
-
Hello, may I ask whether your fiance' has relatives in the USA. Are you Viet Kieu? While my fiance' have 12 trips together and 3 years worth of evidence, my divorce was actually finalized only 1 month prior to us submitting our I-129F.

The consulate does not seem to be consistent. For example, they never acknowledged our submission of P3, but we had P4 one month later. I received one email 5 1/2 weeks after we sent it, but on the other hand we had an urgent medical question and they responded in less than one week via email. I think the "rule of thumb" is to NOT trust a quick answer from the consulate. Do not plan based on you waiting to hear back from them. There is enough experience and expertise on this forum, and in the legal community, to hopefully answer your queries.

I lived in Hanoi for 3 1/2 years and can vouch for Ha Long Bay. They have some fantastic overnight boats there. Also, the overnight "Victoria Train" to Sapa is also well worth it.

Hello, after emailing the HCMC Consulate only the end of last week, they emailed my fiance' (who lives in Hanoi) that we CAN get the medical examination in Hanoi (at the SOS clinic). You do not have to have it done in HCMC

My fiance' went to SOS in Hanoi and said that they do medical exams for K-3 visas. However, we are not sure if they will do the medical exams for K-1 visas. I ask b/c it's a real pain for my fiance to go to HCMC just for the medical interview. Your help would be appreciated.

For the K-1, does only the I-184 need to be completed? My fiance asked if the I-864 needs to be completed but I don't think it does.
-
Thanks, but they sent 2 links and not 1. Not sure if that was a mistake either. I assume the only link is the K-1 link. Thoughts?
-
Just to clarify, we received 2 links; not one. We are not sure why there are 2 links. On the consulate website there is the link for "Appointment Package for K Visa". I assume this is the only one we need to complete. Is there anything else?

In the P4 my fiance' received today, the HCMC Consulate sent 2 links (please see below), both of which don't work:
http://photos.state.gov/libraries/hochiminh/174995/iv-forms/iv-appointment-12'>http://photos.state.gov/libraries/hochiminh/174995/iv-forms/iv-appointment-12
http://photos.state.gov/libraries/hochiminh/174995/iv-forms/iv-appointment-1
The link I found (which the header references January 2011) is as follows: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/hochiminh/174995/iv-forms/K-Appointment-122020-2.pdf. I think this is the proper one, but how can we know? It seems the Consulate screwed up.

I just wanted to alert you all that, for whatever reason, the K-1 visa process has accelerated beyond what I thought. While it took from Juy 16 to December 1, 2010 to get our NOA2, after that things have happened far more quickly than we could have imagined (and also compared with other people's experiences on this board). We received P3 and the next day sent it to HCMC on January 13, 2011. Today in the mail, and to our great shock (because we heard it would often take 4 months to get P4), P4 arrived (only 1 month after P3), with the interview date set for March 21st. We are now scrambling (happily!), as we really hadn't believe the process would move so quickly. For those of you out there who are still in process, perhaps this is a harbinger. On the other hand, maybe it was only pure luck.

Your fiance' may get a visa to Europe. My fiance' got one and we ended up in Italy/France. It's not cheap though!
-
Yes, we did a 10-year timeline and a 10-year residency for me. We did not do a 10-year residency for her b/c that's already required in the docs required by HCMC.
-
Hello. We too have a lot of evidence (7,000 pages of chats/emails over 3 1/2 years). 12 trips (1 to Europe), lot's of photos, engagement party (held long after we filed for the K-1). I agree with overkill, even if no one looks at the evidence. Our timeline is "by trip" and is about 5 pages. Like many others, our first 8 trips are not as well documented b/c we knew nothing of K-1 requirements or HCMC requirements (we cobbled together visa entry/exit stamps, flight itineraries, and some visa bills). Our relationship is quite well-documented. My fiance' speaks fluent English, has NO relatives in the US, is 37 years old with a son, and owns a house and is upper middle class (lives in Hanoi). I hope those factors helps......

I Met my Fiance' in Italy/France in 2010. She had a very difficult time getting a visa for the EU (via the Italian Embassy), and we provided a ton of information in order to get her the tourist visa. Even I contacted the Italian Embassy, but for a single woman, don't assume the EU countries will easily provide a visa. You'll have to submit flight plans, daily hotel reservations, and my fiance' even provided a copy of the deed to the land she owns.

Hello, it has been 1 month since we submitted the P3 (for K-1 visa) to HCMC. We have yet to receive any acknowledgement that HCMC received P3 (we sent by email and mail). Is it possible to call the NVC and see if HCMC has scheduled the interview yet for my fiance'? Would NVC know?
-
Thanks. That seems clear. However, I wonder whether the Vietnamese Government does restrict outgoing currency (either at the airport if carrying cash, or by bank transfer). I was told that the Vietnamese Governmenet will not allow much money to leave Vietnam. However, given a change in status of the fiancee' (ie. now they have a K-1), I was wondering whether the Vietnamese fiancee' would be permitted to wire the money from her bank to mine (and not carry so much cash on an airplane).
NVC completed and schedule of interview in HCM

May I ask: is there anyway that an outsider could learn about an interview date? I ask because my ex somehow found this out despite the fact that I told no one. Not sure how that happened and wanted to know if the interview schedules are published somewhere on VJ (or elsewhere). Tks.
