  2. nope. it was the cheapest flight :P

For some reason now until august 23rd was 424 pounds a single, but on the 24th it was only 310 pounds a single lol. So I opted to save the cash and just wait a bit longer :P Whats an extra 20 something days lol, as much as id love to fly this week, it wont kill me to wait a bit haha

I am happy to get in some last minute family time though :)

Did you try STA Travel? I was going nuts trying to pull together almost 1300 USD for Anna's flight one way to the US. Cheapest I found was 1200, until I found STA. 600 USD for a one way ticket. Saved us a fortune. I was concerned it was a gimmick at first, but we got the tickets already and confirmed them.

  3. Anna just got out of her interview --- Approved! Super easy, she was asked two questions. We already have plane tickets purchased, and I'm flying out in 2 days to go on vacation with her (Cottage in the Highlands of Scotland!), and then we'll fly back together on August 8th and move directly into our brand new house, with a brand new dog we're picking out on August 9th, and we'll be done with immigration for a solid 2 years!

  4. I believe susan & daniel also had an expedited case, hence the early interview date :)

I had my medical in london june 6th, case complete june 10th, and interview scheduled for july 29th, with no expedition. So my interview was basically 6 weeks from CC :(

We also had our medical PRIOR to NVC closing our CR1 case (ours was June 8th, we CCed same day as you). When you spoke to London re: switching your dates, did they mention or did you ask if they had merged your medical files and case? We were concerned that our medical stuff would arrive at the embassy prior to our case, and they'd throw it in the bin or lose it or something.

  5. Alternatively, what we've done, is have a 'civil' marriage in the US via the courts. The church in England agreed to have the ceremony then, stating that it was a 'renewal' according to the law (since we're already technically married), and we didn't have to go through all that 1 month in the UK mumbo-jumbo.

  6. I know a lot of people will say its coincidence of timing, but since so many December petitions are still waiting, I'm convinced that my Senator (Toomey) was what got me through. I had contacted him the -day- I was at 5 months, he called (or his team) USCIS the subsequent Tuesday morning (4 days later), they notified me via e-mail they had called, and that afternoon I got my approval. I don't know what strings he pulled or what. I e-mailed him a thank you, and got back a nice response that indicated it was him that had done it, but of course its possible thats all just taking credit for coincidence. Like I said, however, I believe he did pull some sort of strings. I got -nothing- from USCIS despite repeated calls (multiple times a day), and Toomey just required me to sign a release letting him talk about my information on my behalf, and the very day after I got the release to him he called and I got approved. If your congressman/Senator isn't helping, contact another. You have to have at least 3 representatives, your two senators and one congressman, I'd go with all of them and see if they can make some headway, or at the very least get a more clarifying answer than "background checks." We all go through background checks, why should yours take 8 months while others only take 5?

  7. I was cruising the DHL tracking site this morning and saw another packaged was shipped out yesterady for London from the NVC, and thought for sure that would be ours! So I called the NVC and asked if they'd shipped our case, and... "No." What on earth is taking them so long?! Its been a full week since the Interview was scheduled and a full 2 weeks since CC.

I suppose it doesn't matter -when- they ship it so long as it gets there before the interview, but I just want them to ship the darn thing.

  8. Anna and I made the same decision to not go with an attorney, and I am -ridiculously- glad we didn't. I've dealth with attorneys before and frankly, people are right. There is nothing they do that you can't do on your own with a little research and sweat. And they don't do it with urgency, or care the way you care. Plus, they charge an arm and a leg for their lazy effort. 113/hr charged by the minute?! To send in some forms that I would have to prepare anyway, and then send them in on your own sweet time and leave me out of the loop? No thanks.

  9. I've been calling the NVC to see if they shipped the case to the embassy yet, and they say they still haven't. I hadn't called earlier, but I was sure they had, because later in the afternoon of the day they gave me my interview a package left NVC for London, so I presumed that was mine. But now its been a week and they haven't sent the darn thing.

I know its not a big deal, but I was hoping it'd get there quickly because we scheduled our medical early and I wanted to avoid the chance that the medical arrived at the embassy before the case and they ditched the medical not knowing what it went to, but I've seen a lot of folks by now have filed for early medicals, and apparently the medical is valid for 12 months, so they must keep a record of it somewhere. In any case, congrats to everyone with their new CCs and Interviews! I can't wait till next month when we're all talking about our interviews and how they went, and then the few weeks afterwards when we're all together in the US. It's been a long journey!

  10. Wow, there has been a lot of action here lately.

Congrats to everyone on their SIFs, CCs and interview dates.

I myself called and found out my husband's interview date today. We got what we've been praying for, a July interview. July 11th to be exact. Now I can relax and stop stressing out so much about possibly not being able to go.

To those of you still waiting I wish you the best of luck!

Congratulations! Today definitely rocked at the NVC!
