  1. Hi there,

I applied for removal of conditions a few months ago, and I received the approval letter last week. I also received NOA1 with 1 year extension around 4 weeks after applying.

We are leaving for our European vacation in 7 days.

My question is: Am I safe to travel with my NOA although I received the approval letter or should I schedule an appointment with USCIS to get my passport stamped?

    Thanks!

  2. Check this out http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/r...citizenship.asp and http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp

No later than April 17, 2009, the law will change for people born outside Canada. If you were born outside Canada and your parent was a Canadian citizen when you were born, your child born in another country on or after the new law comes into effect will not be a Canadian citizen by birth.

Does it mean that children of Canadians living legally in the US can’t get Canadian citizenship after April 17, 2009????

  3. The best thing you can do is, if you have a good Canadian credit score, go to the US before moving and apply for Nordstrom or Macys credit card at any store. They are able to verify all your info and mail you their credit cards to Canadian address.

When you move, you simply update your credit card file and with your new US address and SSN (you can actually keep both US and Canadian social security # on file) and all your credit score is transferred from Canada to US automatically.

Use your US card a few times in US, and they will start sending you a few “pre-approved” applications per day plus the rest of junk mail

  4. Hi Misa,

I am in the exact same shoes as you are :)

Please post what you find out, I have not even started thinking about next year tax because I know it is gonna be a long and messy project. Just taking a break after receiving my GC.

    Thanks!

  5. Hello,

We tried to add myself on a health plan through my wife's insurance company and they quoted us $450 per month! She does not pay anything for herself, it is covered by her employer.

    #######???????????????

I used to pay $30 monthly for regular health plan through my ex company in Canada.

What have the rest of Canadians done when moved to the US?

Is there anything cheaper around that acctually makes sense to get?

    Thanks!
