My CR 1 visa has been approved yesterday. I am so happy. No difficulties for me. Also no files were asked to be shown. Just a simple interview in writing cuz I am DEAF! The Mumbai Consulate were very nice to me. Hats off to them :jest:

Don't forget to bring:

Marriage Certificate (NSO copy)

Birth Certificate (NSO Copy)

Latest Police clearance under both Maiden and Married Name

IDs and school records (might be needed for identification purposes)

Print more chat logs and emails, it helps to have more

Even if you already submitted the originals to NVC, they might request for another copy during the interview.

yup yup. CFo sticker na lang ang kulang ko. May cert na kasi ako for the counseling. I obtained that last year for the change last name of my passport.

Congrats on your visa approval. I would like some help from you if you would guide me as my interview is on September 22nd. I married my husband, who is divorced and have 3 kids, but their kids live with his ex-wife. We both are hearing impaired(deaf). I would like to know how it will have impact on my interview and what kind of questions will they ask regarding his divorce and kids, so that I could get it prepared with my husband and have all the answers ready.

Wife's Visa Approved this Morning.

It was pretty straightforward she took it in English.

They asked:

Who is calling you here?

Where does your husband work?

What does he do?

When did you get married?

When are you planning to go to US?

Then she was asked to wait for 2nd interview

Almost same questions

Who is calling you here?

Where does your husband work?

What does he do?

When did you get married?

Then asked about her studies

What does she plan to do here

And Congrats Visa Approved.

Done at 11am but they didn't let her pick up they are going to courier it.

Wow Congrats! Could you tell me what did your wife answer when she was asked when is she planning to go to US and what is planning to do in US? Let me know as I have to get prepared for my Sept 22nd interview in Mumbai.

Thing went smoothly except one problem..we have to wait a long time.

here is how everythign went...

My wife was at embassy at 5.50 AM with one person in front of her. They all went inside the consulate at 7.00 am. Now inside , tehy haev different section for immigrant visa and no immigrant visa.

She was called initially and wasa returned all the document they took in VFS office a week back, and told to wait. NOw this wait was huge , she wasn't called till around 3.00 in the after noon.

She was asked some question

She looked at papers and asked

1) what is your marriage date?

2) when did your husband came from usa for marriage? how many days before marriage?

3) does he came to india for your interview?

4) where is he live right now?

Waht she told me is, there were one lady ( for CR1 visa as well) they questioned here for 1 hour than told her to wait and again called her for more questioned for another hour..and eventhan they didn't give her the visa. i guess this kind of stuff delayed her number tobe called upon soon.

When she was called , interview was over in 10 min

they asked following question

1) where does your husband work?

2) how does he go to wrok?

3) what kind of car he drives?

4) did you see him last time?

5) do you have photos from his last visit?

6) do you have marriage photos?

Ans than the magic words...afte waiting for about 8 hour inside embassy..

If you have submitted part 1 and part II here in NVC then you dont have to submitt it again. VFS office might ask just for a photocopy. you do not need to fill it out again. when my wife went to vfs office, she was asked to submitt photo copy of part I. dont worry about it just have the photo copy of par I and part II when your wife to VFS office.

-Birth Cetificate( Translated in English)- Ori And copy

-They also asked us to bring birthcertificate in Gujarati as well to interview( the original one)

-Appointment letter( The one that comes with packet 4)- Ori and Copy

-Letter from NVC ( The one we get informing interview date and what document we have submited). THey want this letter to verify that we have submited original PCC to NVC.

-Medical report

NOw just 11 Days to go for interview....

Do I have to fill out the DS230 part 1 and 2 again that came with packet 4? I have already sent those to NVC before.

Finally I got my Packet 4 from Mumbai Consulate and my Case # is there on the Mumbai website appointment schedule. I have one question. We started applying in my maiden name and when I went to Ahmedabad to get Local PCC, they told me to change my passport to married name. But we have applied till DS-230 stage and now the name is still in my maiden name. I have read in Packet 4 that female applicant does not have to change her name to her married name. But I can take my old/expired and new passports together so that they should know I am the same person. How it will have effect on the interview?

Hi All,

Thanks to all of you my VJ buddies for all your help and prayers. Yesterday my wife successfully completed her interview and got approved. She also received the passport and Visa on the same day in the evening.

Experience at the Mumbai US Embassy was excellent for her. People there were very friendly. She went in around 7:30am and came out around 12:00pm. Interview lasted around 10 minutes.

Below are the questions she was asked:

1. Who sponsored your husband?

2. WHere does your husband work?

3. Where does your husband leave and who else leave with him?

4. What vehicle does your husband drive to work?

5. How is the nature of yur mother in law?

6. Can I see the album?

Congratulations! You got the visa , please pick it up at the VFS office in the evening .

Hi, I have not yet received Packet 4 from Mumbai Embassy also my interview date is not there on the appointment schedule list on the mumbai embassy website. Can you tell me how long does it take after NVC schedules my interview date. Mumbai embassy has already received my package from NVC on August 17th.

I have something to share with you all. I am hearing impaired and my husband is also hearing impaired. I am wondering how will the interview go. Will I have to accompany someone to the consulate to hear my number being announced because I may not be able to hear that. Then I will manage myself alone during the interview. Anyone has similar experience please guide me...

don't worry about that, you know how good care is taken for hearing impaired here in US and same will happen there at US embassy as well. And all will go smooth as others..

Yeah I know about the hearing impaired being taken care of in US. I am going to Ahmedabad on Sept 11th for my medical and then hand over the documents and fees to VFS office. I have already booked my flight to US on October 8th. Have to be prepared till then..
