  1. My husband received his citizenship in 2009, and we are petitioning for a green card for his mother. We are not ready to petition for his father. His mother did not change her name when they were married, and still has her maiden name.

Will a marriage certificate for his parents be necessary since there is no name change to prove for her, and we do not intend to apply for his father right now, if ever?

I want to have everything available ahead of time to prepare our packets and be ready. We used James's shortcuts for my husband's visa, which went quite well, and plan to take the same route this time.

Your help is appreciated, everyone! It's been a longggggg time :)

    Tracy

You will still need their marriage certificate. You have to provide that with the ds-230 , along with a bunch of other documents.

  2. I am filling out form I-864 EZ to send to NVC and I came across the option to send via email.

What is the email Electronic Processing?

I called NVC and gave them mine and my mother's email and today I recieved an email to pay the IV fee, which I did. and printed the AOS Barcode sheet.

Does that mean I am signed up for the Email Electronic Processing or is there another step to it?

The webpage says I can email I-864 to NVC. Here's the link....

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3197.html

  3. So, apparantly NVC mailed out the DS-3035 to my mother in Pakistan on January 11, 2011 and she has still not received it yet.

To all my fellow Pakistani's who have been receiving correspondence from NVC, what courier service are they using? Is it the regular post mail or American Express or a different service.

I am trying to call NVC but no luck so far, I'm getting the busy tone.

    Any help is appreciated...

  4. I know this probably been asked many times here on VJ but I would like to ask a favor for those who have experience and have successfully in petitioned their parents. What supporting documentations did you submit? I just want to have more input on this. Thank you.

Every country has different documentation. The best way to determine what's needed for your country, go to the below link. It is the NVC website and gives a list of required docs. to send.

    Here's the link:

    Good luck!

  5. I used my yahoo with NVC..they send me emails through my yahoo account and i sent replies and inquiries using same account.

    Thanks ALBRieder!

Another question. I didn't call NVC to register my email, even though the I-130 was approved in January and they already sent out the DS-3035 and I-864 bill in the mail. Is it too late to register my email with them? or can I go ahead and do it now?

  6. Hi Everyone,

I am applying for my mother sponsership.I am us citizen.

My mother do not have birth certi because she did not register it.

what is alternative to get birth certi .or other document in place of birth certi to put with file.Do i need birth certi and passport while i file for I-130.

my mother have passport and school leaving certificate from primary school(1-7th std and high school)Also she has no record certi from civil authority.

    Your help is higly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Need some clarification.

Does you mother not have a birth certificate or do you not have one?

The reason I am asking is that, for I-130 you do not need your mother's birth certificate. You will only need to send in a copy of your birth certificate with evidence of US Citizenship.

Once, I-130 is approved ( usually 5 months) and I-186 is mailed in, then you will need your mother's birth certificate for DS-230. but that a few months away, more than enough time to find alternative proof of birth.

  8. I dont think your husband can (Why would you want to :) )get it but your daughter can, check out the following website. I would even call the consulate to find out more. They are usually helpful

    http://pakistanconsu...rod.html#NICOP2

UPDATE: Just saw you asked about travel. Your husband will definitely need the visa. Also, I think NICOP takes some time so apply ASAP

Thanks M+M. I suppose because of the snow storm no one is in the Consulate, coz I'm getting voicemails all over the place...I'm looking at the application and I have some questions....

  9. I was born in Pakistan (naturalized in US in 2009). I know I am elligbile for NICOP. I have expired Pakistani passport and old NIC.

My husband is US born (not of Pakistani origin)- Can he get NICOP based on marriage to me?

Our daughter is a US born citizen. Can she get NICOP based on being child of Pakistani parent? btw, I did not register her with the Consulate.

We plan on traveling to Pakistan in May for my brother's wedding and would like to know if we can get NICOP's or do we all need to get visas?

  10. no email at all?

you'll be on the slow postal train, then (which will suck, much)

come on - call NVC 2 weeks after approval date, exchange emails with the nice tele-operator,

and kick it all into PLAY. Having an IIN is frickin useful, when ya wants to actually utilise the online payment portal.

You had speed on the petition approval - do you want speed with the Visa Application Processing?

    or no ?

FWIW - postal processing (no telephone, no email) takes about 9 months at NVC, 3 months for each thing.

I invite you to find LingChe's NVC ShortCut on the wiki here at VJ, and then read it. It's INFO-DENSE - so be prepared to read it much, and often.

:D thanks Darnell. As much as I would love to have it all over and done with in a few months, my wonderful mother, whom I love with all my heart, would much rather it be delayed :bonk: ...yea I know...

Her reaction when I called to let her know her application was approved: " It's too soon! I was thinking of coming there in two years!" .. so I don't think she would care if it was delayed 9 months.

I know I feel horrible. Here I'm blessed with a quick approval and there my mom's being a pain in the

anyways, I'm going to give NVC my email when I call.

  11. AoA Hellow Dear Friends :)

I want to know about the Procedure for Study Visa

I want to Join North Lake College Dallas TX USA or Mountain Veiw Collage TX USA

and What will be the Procedure and Bank Statment ? do i need IELTS or TOFEL ?

and how we calculate Fee which is given in Credit hours form ?

    Please Help me :)

    Regards Umer Hayat

Do you have someone who is sponsoring you or are you funding your own education? The reason I'm asking is coz, if you have a sponsor, it's a lot easier to move to the US. However, as already suggested, the college website should be able to give you detailed info. on how to apply, funding, etc. It used to be TOEFFL when I came here, not sure now. It should all be on the website.

The college system here is a lot different from Pakistan. Here you take your classes per semester, which are about 5 months long. There are two semesters in a year. In order to be a fulltime student you have to be enrolled for at least 4 classes per semester (part time is 1 to 3 classes). Every class has credit hours (3 or 4 credits per class) and you have to pay per credit. You need 12 credits per semester to be fulltime ( 4 classes x 3 credits each = 12 credits). A Bachelor's degree requires about 120 credits to graduate ( 4 years.), an associates degree requires 60 credits to graduate ( 2 yrs.). You can enroll in an Associates degree and then transfer into a Bachelors program. International Students have to be fulltime. Here's an example:

Let's say you enroll in an Associates degree program and You need 4 classes to be fulltime. 1 credit = $350 dollars (this is an example, the college you choose may be less)

You need 12 credits ( $350 x 12 credits = $4200). $ 4200 is your fees for the four classes. But you will have to pay registration fees, technology fees, student activity fees, etc. so your total may be around $5000.

but that is how you will calcuate credit hours.

Let me know if you have any questions..

  12. I just noticed that form i-485 has expired as of 12/31/10 yet a new form is not available on the USCIS website. What should I do?

That is the most recent form on the uscis website. You can use it unless it states on the site that that edition cannot be used. However, you can even use previous editions. See this note on the website:

"Note on Expiration: USCIS continues to accept the 11/23/10 edition of Form I-485, despite the passing of the form's expiration date. An updated form with a new expiration date will be posted as soon as it becomes available."

This is the same form with expiration of 12/31/2010, So you're good!

  13. Hey guys, so pretty much I'm just trying to help my Dad help his sister and her family emigrate from Egypt to the United States. We are US citizens and filled out what I think is the I-864EZ form. We paid the fee and my dad received the charge for it in the mail so I know the payment went through, however we were apparently supposed to mail in a cover sheet with the forms, but I can't seem to figure out what this cover sheet is, or where I can find it specifically. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Did you send in the Barcode sheet with the form? After the AOS fee is paid your dad should have received an email with a link to the barcode sheet that is required to be mailed in with the I-864 (I-865EZ) form.

A cover letter is not mandatory.

  16. Hello all,

We plan to petition for my mom next year. I have heard that once Form 130 is approved, there is some form that the government sends you that will require my mom's signature to let me handle the process from the US. My mom is going to visit us in the spring. Is there any chance I can get this form from the USCIS website? Does anybody know the name of the form? I would like her to sign it while she is here to avoid sending it back and forth.

Thank you very much in advance

Hello, I believe the form you are looking for is DS-3032. You can dowload it from the website. Here's the link.

    http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/80023.pdf

You will have to return this form to NVC. Although your mom can just email them now, it is their prefered method of communication. If you browse through the informative guides you will learn all about the process and shortcuts as well..

    Good luck!
