  1. dreach, congrats! What did they ask you? did you bring a lot of documents with you?

    iriska,

i brought a huge folder with me...basically everything requested in my interview letter and more...he didn't ask many questions...just from the I-485 and just some verification questions...he didn't ask any questions about our relationship actually...

  2. AOS approved!!!

Hubby and I arrived about 20 minutes prior to our interview time. We checked in and sat in the waiting area until my name was called. The interviewer was so nice!!! Literally he swore us in, asked me the I-485 questions, and verified some info from me and hubby. Then he told me I was approved. He asked me to provide some more evidence (car insurance, bank statements), looked at our pictures, told me to save evidence for the removal of conditions, and gave us a paper with info to save. He stamped my passport, and told me to go change my SSN card. It was surprisingly pleasant, and I am happy we can now move forward as a normal couple. Yee haw!

  3. I really like your avatar!

I don't know if you can renew your DL before it expires; as you know, drivers licenses fall under State (not Federal) law, so they all brew their own cup of tea. Frankly, the odds are against you.

If you got married on or before December 31, 2010 then, yes, you can and should file a joint tax return as a married couple.

If you married before December, yes you can file a Joint IRS return.

As for DL, do you have an I-94, and how long is the card valid, if has 1 year or more, many State DMV will accept that as legal presence.

    Thank you! :)

We got married last year. Good to know.

My card says D/S. I was wondering if I could bring my AOS paperwork and the I-94. I'm just going to call the DMV tomorrow and find out for certain. Thanks again!

  4. Hello All!

I have a quick question. I applied for AOS the last week of October. I received my NOA texts within 5 days and got my hard copies a few days later. I was then touched on November 4th then nothing. From lurking around, I've noticed that generally people get their Biometrics letter a few days after the NOA letter. I'm starting to worry a bit. I called the Customer Service line today and the Rep said I have to wait 30 days before they'll check into it. My current EAD card expires in January, and I wanted to make sure that I can keep my current job. Has anyone had a lag of sorts between their NOA and Biometric letter and gotten their EAD card within 75 days? Thanks!
