  1. So, my wife finally got her naturalization, we changed her SS card and DL today and are going to apply for her passport next week.  That’s not a worry.  However, we also want a passport for my stepdaughter . . . However, we’re wondering about custody.

Mother and Bio Father were never married.

Never got a formal custody letter, however my wife does have An Authorization for a Minor to Travel Abroad where it states that my stepdaughter will be going to live in my city so my wife and I can marry.  It also mentions, like page four among page sixteen, that my wife has sole custody.

There is no way we’d get relinquishment of rights from bio father if we could even find him.

1.) So, I’m hoping that if we send the Authorization for a Minor to Travel Abroad, along with the other documents, that should be enough for my stepdaughter’s passport?  Should we include something else, like school documents?

2.) Since we need to send originals, I suppose we have to apply first for my wife, with her naturalization certificate, and then apply afterwards for my stepdaughter, and not simultaneously?

3.) With possible complications, should we go ahead and also apply for N-600 at the same time?

    Thanks

Processing time has been updated as of 12/31/2017. For Dallas office they moved 12 days from the previous which was 10/2/2016 for cases submitted as of 11/30/2017. The current processing timeline is cases submitted by 10/14/2016 as of 12/31/2017. So I think with this progress if fair to say any case could take at least 20 months from start to finish. I hope someone else disagree with me and think it could be faster.

That's glacially slow :/  .  At that rate, my wife's case wouldn't get looked at until October, which is yes, about twenty months.  I would suspect it would slow down, as well, not speed up.

  3. The reason given was insufficient evidence for ties to home country. They also said the consulor's Spanish was very bad and hard to understand, and their English wasn't good enough to answer.  A similar question, is if I flew down there, would my appearance help (we have flight benefits).

  4. My Parents in Law applied for a tourist visa November 2015 and they want to try again.  The one thing that changed is they moved (last time they were in the process of moving which we told them not to do).  They have a house and property, they are retired.  They're hoping to visit around Christmas to see our new child being born as well as visit Disneyworld.  Is there anything they should include or any advice so they have a better shot this time?

  5. I have a feeling that this is under the wrong subforum, so please move if if so. I am married to a permanent resident (applying for citizenship) who has been here since 2011. We are a family of five and make before taxes 52k. My step daughter is also a permanent resident. My other two US born children receive CHIP and medicaid respecitivly. We found out my wife is pregnant and are renewing the younger two children's applications for CHIP . If my wife applies for WIC and Medicaid while pregnant , and my step daughter for CHIP, will we have anything to worry about for deportation or reimbursement? We live in Texas. Thank you.

  6. Here s a specific question someone might help this paranoid couple.

My wife's parents were refused a B 2 visa in Lima today so she and I are getting ready to travel there for a week.

1.) Have any Peruvian PRs had trouble entering and leaving Peru after a four year absence.

2.) My stepdaughter is staying in the US as we cant locate sperm donor ( last I heard he was in jail) to sign paper for her to travel. For by the off chance there are other Peruvian couples with a similar position, didnthis give any trouble if daughter stays with grandparents in the states and isn't accompanying us?

    Thanks

  8. Wow. How can VSC be so far behind? This is a case where they should establish a little competition between service centers. :)

You know, I remember about three years back, when we first applied for our petition, VSC was a lot further behind. I wonder, without any empirical proof, if there's any backlog from removal from that time, now that they're due. At least that's what I tell myself to not worry.

  9. I kept them. Maybe I'm naÏve, but I figured that if the government or government worker would want to steal our identity, it would be more than easy with the databases available. In addition, it would be clear that the numbers are the same. If you really want to blot them out though, I would keep the first four and last four digits as proof that the cards are connected. Are if you send the entire number, just order your free credit reports over the next few months to keep an eye on it.

  12. Hello everyone,

We're getting ready to send our packet for ROC this week and I'm a bit nervous and doubting if it's enough, so just looking for reassurance and any suggestions:

    So far we have:

    • Copies of the passport with I551 stamp, green card, and NOA for I-90 (Green Card stolen) of DW and copy of green card for DD
    • Lease of our current residence from 17 July 2013 – Present
    • Lease Renewal of our residence from 1 August 2012 – 31 July 2013
    • Copy of Renters Insurance Renewal from 17 August 2012- 16 August 2013
    • A copy of our 1040 being filed for the year 2013.
    • Copies of our jointly filed tax transcripts for the years 2011, 2012.
    • Six months of statements of our joint checking and savings account at Current Credit Union
    • Copy of statement from former account at former bank
    • Notarized statement of beneficiary for our Texas Retirement Services pension.
    • Copy of the birth certificate for our son , born 6 March 2013.
    • Copy of Insurance and medical bills.
    • Copy of home visit by a counselor for process in my step –parent adoption of DD along with translation.
    • Copy of our COSTCO joint account.
    • Postal Correspondence
    • Wedding Invitations
    • Copy of Tax Year 2012 Childcare expenses
    • Letter from current daycare.
    • 100 Photos from 2011 to present

In addition, some of the documents refer to our daughter with her American nickname, thus we include a letter explaining that when that name comes up it is her.

Any suggestions, too thin, or should we be ready to go?

  13. Hello,

My wife had he green card stolen in July, and we applied for a new green card with I-90 in August. We still haven't received the replacement and we're now about 10 days in the 90 day window to file for ROC before April. So two questions

1.) We have the NOA for the I-90 and an infopass on Thursday. Would the USCIS center give my wife a stamp within her passport, and if worst comes to worse, we still have a copy of her old green card (just front) and her her NOA. Would that be acceptable to USCIS?

2.) She hasn't been able to get a new SS card because she don't have the green card. However, would a stamp within passport or the NOA be valid? She got a new job offer and needs her SS card.

    Thanks
