  1. Was it a denial or a request for evidence? What exactly did they ask for regarding the affidavit of support?

It was a denial. It says that the documents presented show that I didnt make enough money to support my dad and that we need someone else to sponsor him. Like I said before my current salary is 42K so I really dont know why they are denied my AOS. Thanks!

  2. Background on my case:

I am a US Citizen petitioning my dad currently in Ecuador to come to the US. He had his interview yesterday however they denied him the visa because of two things:

    AOS

    Asking for DNA Evidence

    For the AOS:

I provided all my information in the US and I didn’t get a notice saying that I wasn’t able to support my dad. I make approximately $42K. I started working 9 months ago so my taxes for last year (2010) were around $10K and for the two previous years I was in school so my taxes were $5K. Anyone knows why my AOS was rejected? I thought it was current income that matters. I showed proof of employment as well as pay stubs showing that I make 42K. i am making above poverty guidelines and I will only be supporting myself and dad in the US.

Anyone knows why my AOS was rejected?

    Thank you for your help!

  3. Hello Everyone,

I am new to this forum.

I am petitioning my dad to come to the US. I am a US Citizen and I have a question about form DS-230.

My dad is divorced and he is not married right now... so I know I have to mark the divorce box in the form, but do I have to include information about the former spouse in the form? or do I leave that blank? because my dad is not in contact with her anymore so we dont know her address.

Also, do I need to send the original marriage certificate and divorce papers or just copies?

    Thanks for your help!!!

Any help with this question? please?

    Thanks!

  4. hi go to the top of this page click on embassy infro ecuador,, some information there . good luck

thanks for the info but Im still a little confused...

it says that if NVC handles the case.. they will require all civil documents.. I can provide the originals for almost everything to NVC but the marriage and divorce certificates (i have them but i am afraid to lose them.. they were really hard to get)... and I am not sure if they will accept the copies for these documents.. my dad will take the originals to the interview..

  5. Hello Everyone,

I am trying to collect all the required documents to send along form DS-230 but I am not 100% sure if I need to send original or copies.

I am the petitioner (i am petitioning my dad) and I live in the US. The case is in NVC California and my dad is in Ecuador.

Here is the list of documents that I have:

    1. Marriage Certificate

    2. Divorce Certificate

    3. Birth Certificate of beneficiary

    4. Police Clearance Report

    5. 2 passport size photographs of beneficiary

    6. Beneficiary Passport copy

    7. DNA test result (to establish paternity.. since my parents were never married)

    7. Anything Else??

Do I need to send the originals along with the DS-230? They were really hard to get and I dont want to lose them or do I just send the checklist saying that I have all those documents and my dad needs to take them to the interview in Ecuador.. or will it be ok if i send copies along with translations?

    Thanks for your help!!!
