  1. City/ Town: Akron

    State: Ohio

    Date of Service: 08/11

CS Name: Ray E Benson @ Concentra Medical Center

    CS Tel. no: (330) 724-3345

    Cost: $43

    Vaccine Transcription only available: N

    Turnaround time: 40 mins

After calling every number from the USCIS website of doctors in my area, I am happy I went with Akron's Concentra. The receptionist I spoke to was very helpful and even called me back to confirm the cost. There was a mixup at the time of my interview (they initially thought I needed a physical exam) but the doctor cleared that up and I wasn't charged for the exam. Dr. Benson was friendly and was happy to fill out the paperwork and have a chat about immigration. :)

Beware of the Concentra in Cleveland though. When I called them I had a very unpleasant talk with the receptionist who told me that they "don't do AoS" and that they ONLY do physical exams for immigration, then she hung up on me.

  2. Thanks guys!

I hope to be up to date with the vaccines now. I had my doctor give me every shot I could get. So I am now good for MMR, DTP, Pertussis, HepA & HepB, meningococal and pnuemococal!

My arms are very sore and swollen but it was worth it. :)

And Medicare didn't really cover it. I had to get the vaccines from the pharmacy first. All up I spent just under $260! :(

Would it have cost me as much in the U.S?

I guess I got to see the doctor for free. Medicare isn't completely useless, lol. :P

I had my doctor print out and sign the pages so now I have proof I have been immunized. This week I will be making the appointment with the Panel Physician and I hope it will all be enough. :)

  3. Thanks lynJer!

You are right, the immigration experience is an expensive one! I am going to get my GP to give me a Tetanus shot in a few days and go from there. My main concern (besides the cost) is that some of the shots need to be spaced months apart and that makes me feel so defeated. :(

Its already been a year since I last saw my fiance and I miss him terribly.

But it is weird that I have "no immunities". I don't have a full list of my vacines, but I found the record of the ones I had as an infant and it says I had the MMR and all that. I can't think why they disappeared. I am 25 and I thought it'd lat at least a few decades! o_O

I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience?

And thank you for suggesting I call the Panel Physician. I think I'll give his receptionist a call this week and see if I can get some help. Either that or I'll bite the bullet and make an appointment with the doctor and explain my situation. *fingers crossed*

  4. Hello again VJ Community.

Well I am up to having the medical exam with the panel physician but I have a problem. I can't locate my medical records and I had a serilogical bloodtest done to detect the vaccines in my blood but strangely, I don't have any!

My GP was very unhelpful as to why this is and recommended getting all the shots again. What I want to know is will this be a problem for the Embassy/Panel Physician?

I was planning to just get my GP to give me the blood test results and I'd take that to the interview, but I am still really worried.

It will take more than 8 months to get all of my vaccinations up to date! :(

    Thank you!

  5. Thank you everyone for the help. I am relieved to know that I am not the only person having some difficulties. I think I will go with the serilogical blood test as I found out that the medical centre I went to until the age of 4 was demolished about 10 years ago and I don't know where to go to chase up their records. o_O

And I did see that Medicare has a register for childhhod vaccinations but apparently it is only effective for those people who were vaccinated from 96 onwards as lynJer stated. Thank you though, it was worth checking out online.

Yes, it would be great if they could sort this out, it would make things so much easier.

But again , thank you all so much!

  6. Hello vj community!

Well I am up to the medical exam part of my application but I have a problem. I saw my gp and he couldn't get my vacination record and told me to get them from the places I had the injections. Probalem is my family moved around a lot when I was a kid and the primary school I went to was shut down years ago. My doctor told me I could get a serilogical blood test to see what I have had, but I don't know if the doctor I see for the exam will accept them.

So I guess to boil it all down, I am asking if anyone has sucessfully passed the med exam with a serilogical blood test? Or is there another way to get my records? I would've though Medicare would have them, but my GP said they wouldn't. :(

    Thank you for your time!

  7. Thanks for the link all the extra information I can get is a big help.

As for my timeline, we sent the visa to the Californian Service Centre at the end of March and recieved the NOA1 at the end of June. It took about a month to hear back from them. As for the NOA2, that came on the 5th of November.

I hope you won't be kept waiting too long to hear good news. Good luck! :)

I need to correct a date here. The visa petition was sent at the end of May, not March.

    Sorry for the mistake all!

  8. Ok you will wait approx 2-3 weeks for NVC to send to Us consulate in OZ and your fiance will get an email for packet 3 which is what you are looking into now. You need to go to your local police station where you live. They will do your fingerprinting and send it to their headquarters and then send to you so you can include it in your package. Sydney is the only US consulate where you will have your interview. All states have to travel to Sydney for interview. And yes you have to pay for your visa, you will be given notice to go to local post office and pay for K1 visa $420. Look up Sydney US consulate and it will give you all the info I did not like the Canberra one at all was quite confusing. You can also have your medical done now too look up on US consulate site and it will tell you what doctors you can go see in your area. Saves time if you have these done now before packet 3 arrives. Make sure you get some passport photos done also 6-8 you will need them. Hope this helps

Thank you so much for letting me know that I can go to my local police station. That is a big relief!

But I am shocked that only the Sydney Embassy runs the interviews. All my sympathy for lovelorn Aussies on the other side of the country. I am now getting all things prepared for packet 3.

But I am looking forward to completing my part of the application and, finally, getting my visa. And all of this will give me somthing to tell my children and granchildren, lol!

The things we do for love. :D

  9. Hello, I am not able to answer all your question, but the beneficiary has the interview in their home country, and you do have to pay a fee for the visa..

http://www.visajourney.com/content/guides these guides are very helpeful, and there are many other posts on this website that will help you with your doubts.

I went on your profile and was not able to see your timeline.

Would you be able to share that information with us?

I filed for my K1 visa on California Service Center, and still haven´t gotten any news...I just wondering when you received your Noa1?

I hope you get your information soon!

Good luck to you and your love.

  10. Hey VJ community!

I am wondering if any fellow Aussies out there could help me out. My fiance recieved the confirmation of visa approval from USCIS and we know we need to wait for NVC to recieve/confirm then send it to Sydney, but I am thoroughly confused by the U.S embassy in Canberra's website regarding K-1 visas. Where will I need to go for my enventual interview? Surely its the embassy in my home state? And also there are fees listed. Does that mean I nees to pay to have the visa processed on my end?

And finally, I was getting ready all the things I need to get my police record, but then I read that I need to go to the head office in Melbourne to get my record AND fingerprints done? I am so confused. And my fiance is trying to help but he can't understand it either.

Thank you very much. I do appreciate it.
