  1. Hey everyone. It has been a long time since I've been here. My wife and step daughter came here on the fiance visa in 2012, we got married withing the 90 day period as per the requirement. My question: we just had our 4 year anniversary, and we are finally at a place financially where we can start the adjustment of status for her and my step daughter.

Since we've already been married 4 years, is there anything different I need to be aware of?

I feel like I'm starting from scratch here, I used to have all of this memorized, now I'm relearning the process.

  2. Yeah Brother, relax. If you're overwhelmed by "everything" just do a section at a time. I went nuts on my package, it was almost 6 inches thick, the person that interviewed my fiance (Manila) said he'd never seen a package so thick. I know I sent much more than was necessary, but being an engineer used to dealing with government bureaucracies, I wanted to overwhelm them with information. Your embassy should not be as difficult as ours was.

  3. Well, we used them. Besides a little disagreement on what exchange rate to use, and some initial communication difficulties, it went pretty smoothly. Fiance and daughter leave manila on the 20th. So, pending any mishaps at the airport, I'd recommend St. Raphaels. Cost of TWO 1 way tickets from Manila to San Francisco purchased 3 weeks before flight, $1204 USD.

That was the price after all taxes and fees.

  4. I have read several people suggesting the use of St. Raphaels Travel Agency for tickets to the US. However, I cannot seem to find anyone actually saying they used the service. I have found several people saying that they did use St. Raphaels Travel Agency, and had bad experiences. Does anyone here that has something good to say about the company actually used them?

  5. CAPITALIZE the #$&^#^^%&^%%& "letters" in the passport number, holy ####### that was frustrating. Found it out on the 13284578245246th attempt at scheduling.

another tip: if passport number has xx in front of the number....it has to be in capital letters. I could not figure out what was wrong when trying to scheduled the interview.

    Good call!!

  6. Hello VJ members,

I received my Letter of Eligibility for the visa interview August of last year. However, reading through the Ki guides and FAQ's here, it appears that I was also supposed to receive some forms from the embassy. This is not the case though.

How should I proceed from here? I plan to schedule my medical and interview on the 2nd week of Feb.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Yvorry (K1 Applicant)

  7. "Post Decision Activity

On July 11, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations."

Can someone give me an air knuckle bump, hooteehoo.

  8. Thanks, guys for the replies. We're still on the 30+ days count but I just wanna be prepared for when we get the NOA2. I hadn't done much (or any) research at all. My fiancée's doing all that. But this seems so real now and so i decided to pitch in.

I would appreciate any updates or info that could shed light into my situation. :)

  9. Hi everyone, got a question regarding visa fees. I'm taking my kid with me and would like to know we'll be paying twice -- one for me, and one for my lil girl.

Also, the father's info is not included in the kid's birth certificate. Considering this, will there still be a need to provide the following documents: 1) a court order from a court in the children's country of residence allowing the children to immigrate to the US; or 2) a notarized letter from the father allowing the children to immigrate to the US.

    Thanks!!
