  1. Call USCIS and get your Biometric letter and complete it. Unless the biometrics are done, you have no progress what so ever. Don't delay any further and call USCIS ASAP.

So I posted my message as I was on the phone with USCIS, and they mentioned to me that since my previous biometric verification was done within 15 months, that is the reason I did not get a letter asking for new biometrics. According to the supervisor I spoke to, biometrics are valid for 15 months.

They also escalated my case and sent a request to the CSC to check the status. They said I should get a reply within 10-15 business days...hopefully with some good news.

  2. Hi,

I applied for my I-751 back in early June and got my I-797 NOA from CSC on June 7, 2013. Since then I have not received a biometrics letter or any other information regarding my application. I am also unable to find my case status using the Receipt Number provided in the I-797...I am assuming this is because the biometrics is not complete yet.

Also in October I moved and filed a Change of Address which was received and confirmed by USCIS.

    Is this normal?

  3. Hi,

I got my Green Card in Sep 2010. I am originally from Montreal and married my wife from Michigan. Soon after obtaining my Green Card, I was offered a job in Toronto and have accepted the job. I have tried looking for a job in the US but didnt have any luck.

Over the past few months, since Sep, i have travelled from Toronto to Michigan to visit my wife and in-laws and each time i have crossed the border i show my Canadian Passport and Green card and explain to the immigration officer that i have not moved to the US yet. When i say this, he says that if i dont move, they will take the Green Card away...or i can file paperwork to ask for an extension. Does anyone know what form is required?

Also, my wife is a Canadian Citizen (dual) and is going to move to Toronto as well. Does she need to file paperwork as a Canadian returning to live in Canada and will this affect my CR-1 visa?

    Thanks

  4. dont think it matters what country, as said above the quicker the marriage certificate is issued the better. You can marry in the states but you MUST return to Canada as you have intent when crossing the border. you might have some problems at the border though, as you are getting married and they will want to know that you are not trying to "immigrate" without the proper visa. It is not illegal to marry in the states nor do you need a visa for it but you will have to do the cr-1 visa.

its far too early for me, hope that made sense.

What do you mean by "its far too early for me"?

    thanks for the responses.

  5. Hi,

I am a Canadian Citizen (in Montreal, QC) and am planning to get married to my girlfriend. She is a dual citizen of Canada and the US and she lives in Detroit.

I have read the other posts but am still very confused about which kind of Visa I need to apply for.

We are not married or engaged yet because we were not sure what we are allowed to do to make this process easier.

I am planning on moving to the US but since i do not have work authorization I am not sure if I can apply and remain in Canada and continue working and saving money until the process of getting my green card is complete?

I was also wondering if it was possible to apply for my green card and while we are waiting for that process to finish, if she can move to Canada?

Im assuming that the CR-1 is the one i need to complete...is this correct? (since as a canadian i can enter the US anytime) and also once the CR-1 application is sent am I allowed to go visit while the visa is being processed.

    Thanks in advance.
