  1. Thanks for giving me back some hope. I called DOS today, they still said it was in AP, but I don't think or hope they aren't updated daily by the embassy. On Tuesdays is when I call DOS, praying that next week they will give us other news than being in AP still. And of course Ahmed, will email them next week too, to see what new phrase they have for us. LOL Can I ask you a favor, do you still have the email you mentioned? Maybe you can private message me the email part to see the difference. I know it's not for sure it will be the same pattern, as each case in different. Just gives me hope. Hoping you understand, I'm going crazy here.

at first when the embassy was telling us we were "pending review" the dept of state was telling us ap still but once the visa was issued dos knew about it. i can look in my email but i think it has been deleted but it was worded "pending consular officer's review" you maybe can send an email saying has administrative processing been completed and am i now in review?" something like that

  2. Good morning to our VJ family. My husband wrote to the embassy yesterday since we had reached our 3rd month mark. Today we receive an email as follows.

The case is still pending review, once the process is completed, we will notify Mr. XXXXXXXX of the next step.

    Regards,

    Consular Section

    U.S. Embassy, Cairo

    NI

Each of the previous replies we have received each week said we were still under mandatory administrative processing or just pending administrative processing. That we would be notified when the AP was completed. Now there is my question to you guys. This one today only says pending review. As well as to what the next step is. Since my dear husband had to request for his passport back to travel for work. Could that be Final Review or and I getting excited for nothing? Could the next step be to send in his passport back to them. Any insight would be greatly appreaciated.

We have been waitng so long. God willing, we are getting closer.

I think this sounds similar to our email we received and his visa was issued bout 3 weeks later. So hang in there i think they would have told you administrative processing if it was still in administrative processing.

  3. I think maybe Egypt is a harder consulate

I have seen 2 people make the poverty amount or more and they asked for cosponsor. so maybe it is just egypt?

truth is that it depends on the consular in charge of your case...i barely made it by maybe hundreds(can't remember exact amount) and we passed. I have heard some are denied and told to get cosponsor like us so it depends i guess..doesn't seem fair but that is how it works...

  4. Hii all ,for some reason im going to have Co sponsor for my K1 petition ,i do have 2 question

1- Is it acceptable by the Cairo Embassy for my K1 petition Co sponsor to be not relative to me or to my Fiancee?

2- for Co sponsor filling I-134 from what he need to put on question #11 exactly??

Thanks alot for all your help.

    1. any us citizen or us legal permanent resident

not sure answer for that form...sorry

  5. I really wish that we could see how many egyptians had spouse with and if it made a shorter AP or no AP? Or if it did not matter.

I am sure that would take alot of digging to get some information.

But I know in Egypt it is always better to have the USC wife there, especially for moral support because it is overwhelming.

I will be taking an unpaid leave of absence from work for 1 month to be with my husband and hope we come back together forever....

Good Luck on whatever you decide.

i went with hubby to interview and he still got AP and it lasted about the average 2 mos.

  6. Well this thread went way out of the way....AYMAN is your daughter ok? I am sending prayers your way that everything will be ok and that your family will all be together soon. Keep us updated on her situation ok.

  7. Dear Friends,

First of all, i would like to thank all of you for supporting me, sharing useful information and experience.

I received my green card today, after 40 days of arrival. It's 10 years green card unconditional because I came through IR-1.

    Since I came:

    Got SSn after one month

Opened bank account after one month

Got credit card from capital one after one month

Got green card after 40 days

Edited my name in the SSn today and waiting for the new ssn card with shortened middle name

Preparing for the written test for the driving license

I think I can apply for medicad

    What else?

aha, looking for a job, so pray for me

What else, what else? dunno, if you have suggestions, I would be grateful.

Thanks again for helping me in my visa journey.

    Take care

You can not apply for medicaid horees, jeez now do you understand WHY a sponsor is required? They don't want immigrants coming to the united states signing up for free govt programs paid for by US tax dollars... :bonk:

  8. I want to thank this great forum and community for the support, feedback and information it provides. Now is my turn to ask for a simple favor: Please pray for us, light a candle, perform a happy dance, sing gospel karaoke, chant loving verses or do whatever is it that you do to lift yourself spiritually. In other words, do something positive and send good vibes our end for my trip to be safe and our interview to be a smooth transaction ending it approval. May God be with all of us and our interviews end in a seamless, uneventful approval.

    Amen.

sending positive vibes your way...you are on the last leg of this journey and it's almost over soon. :) (soon you will be together in usa)

  9. Thank you. I know I have friends here ;-). Thank you for the prayers. I realllllllllllllly hope it's a short one. I'm thankful he's been approved they just better not take it back lol. I need him home for Xmas. I can't put a tree up without him lol.

i went through all that. we were approved at the interview and told congratulations you should get your visa in 2 weeks. That 2 weeks became 2 months and many times i did that same thing, tortured myself with questions..like...what if they take it back? your not alone but what i can say after passing it is that you should not worry. if they told you approved at your interview then that means everything is ok with your papers. if there was a problem or they needed something from you they probably would have given you a 221-g or told you at the interview. The rest is just security checks from here and if that turns out then you should see the visa in hand soon.

don't know about this double posting on vj for some reason that happens alot on here

  10. Here is a email the embassy sent me this am. I feel that I'm In for a long wait. I feel hopeless I wish I had a friend right now.

    Good day:

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to refer your case for further administrative processing.  Please be assured that we will process the visas when the administrative processing is concluded.  We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

You can call dos for updates 202-663-1225 dial 1 then 0 to get to a visa specialist. They won't tell you much when you call, don't expect specific details or anything but you will know when it is cleared and when the visa has been issued...

take care and bide your time...(i didn't i tortured myself lol) mine lasted 2 months but our case was in egypt i don't know the average wait times for jamaica but i am sure you can find them here on the threads...

  12. hello everyone,

I have been reading everyones interview reviews and I see that a lot of men are being asked to bring in their military records. My husband is 27 and has not completed his military service and is not planing on doing it. I believe that he is still considered to be a students which waives the mandatory military duty but I'm not 100% sure. Would someone give me some info on this topic please? What should he bring in if he never completed it in order not to delay the process? Please if anyone could give me any information regarding the military service in Egypt, I would really appreciate it?

Yes that is correct if he is in school he can get a certificate to give to the military. Then the military would give him what is required to give to the embassy.

  13. I know there are a lot of us on AP during the holidays but it seems to be more depressing this year than last year. At least last year we were moving forward with USCIS and the i130 and headed towards NVC... now we are at a stand still.. at least it feels like it...

im sure they are doing work and that our case really isn't sitting gathering dust but it really feels like it.

I keep reading that 50% of the cases are completed within a couple of months with the majority of them finished within 6 months leaving only those few cases to last longer.. those being either issues with background checks, relationship evidence, field investigations etc...but who knows which case we are...

I've already missed all of my first year of holidays with my husband... now we are headed for the second round... I'm depressed... all we found out was our case was fine, no worries, fbi reports haven't been finalized but they are working on that (two weeks ago) and we are still pending AP.

There isn't much anybody can say or do except wait for the time and it will be completed... I love my husband and he loves me deeply... all we want is our chance for happily ever after.. we want to start a family, we want to be together when it snows, we want to wake up and drink coffee together...and the list goes on....

I'm thankful every day for this man in my life... I just wish this part would end and our next step in the journey begin.

Just waiting for good news for us soon and for so many others waiting this painful AP...

And I just want to say thank you to all of you who send me messages of strength and Faith... Inshallah one day this really will end and we will live our lives blessed with our spouses!!!! AMEEN

Ameen, EAbbas, this is your last holiday without your love. That is the strength you need, and Allah knows!!

  14. AHHHHHHHH CONGRATULATIONS!!!! YOU FINALLY DID IT!!!

insha allah he and lil malik get home to u soon!!!!!

now your new job is to pray lots and lots for me!!!!

im so happy for u!!! alhamdulillah...

Thanks angie, i am doing that without being told :)

Yalla!!time to finish this process so i can congratulate you and abdo

  15. HI,

I am a U.S citizen who applied for my Fiance Visa in summer of 2010, she did her medical, police report etc.. in spring of 2011. On June 16,2011 she had her interview where I wasn't there. We have been together for 10 years... very odd love story., so our file was thick. We provided all the proof of years. I did have a good lawyer based out in Atlanta. Now my questions is that its been 5 months til Administrative Process. I have emailed the embassy few times and get the same answer... How long should we wait for? Remember we both are orginally are from Pakistan. She has a indefinite visa here in U.K. Can you please let me know which angle should we approace now? Should we get married and change our Visa and re-apply again? Or should we just wait and wait... Humble request for some feed back., especially if anyone who is in the same boat as us(Administratvie process). Thanks a bunch!! Imagine being with someone for 10 years and now you are told to just wait... its very hard for both of us! God Bless!

AP wait times in pakistan tend to run a long time from what i have read on this forum. You could contact your congress and request them to make an inquiry. Some say that doesn't help but from experience i will say it helps "a little". You never know what is actually going on with your case when it's in AP because they are not giving you any information(i know thats hell) but i think it helps to have someone "higher up" look at your case and i think that is what happens when a contact is made through congressional email. Yes it does go to someone higher up in the embassy but if your case is still pending the checks they are going to tell your congressman "it's still pending" so don't expect a miracle or nothing. I think it helps because what if your case is just sitting on someones desk collecting dust, or got lost or misplaced...rare maybe but not impossible...so at least you know someone is looking into your case...

    Good luck and be strong!!

  16. Hi vjers wanted to say thanks for all the help and support that we have gotten through this process and happy to report that my husband has received his visa completely error free and we are sooo happy to be reuniting soon. I wanted to send encouragement to those still waiting or going through this because it is very hard and painful process but it usually ends happily. So bide your time, especially those in AP because in my opinion that is the worst part of the whole process. I didn't take my own advice though i will admit as far as 'biding my time, lol" but maybe it may help others ....

Hold on and trust in Allah and soon you will see your visas

good luck everyone and be strong if your in AP HELL!!!

  17. Greetings, all.

I've been stuck in AP over a Student Visa I'm trying to obtain from the US Embassy in Cairo for 4 months now.

I'm starting to lose hope here. I have absolutely no intention of abusing my Visa in any way or form and I've shown more than ample evidence showing my ability to fully finance my education there, with no intention of getting any job there to do so.

Wow, sorry to hear this, that is an awful long AP have you contacted them about why it's taking so long?

  18. Hi VJ community members!!!

I'm Yasmine. I currently live in NJ. I just got married this past summer in July in Egypt. I met my husband in the summer of 2010 and we've been together ever since (and when I say together I just mean we've been talking since the time we met and I spent this past summer with him in Egypt)...lol

I filed for the I-130 when I came back from Egypt in September and I've just been trying to be patient since. So hello to all of you and I hope we can support each other on our journeys. :)

Hi yasmine, good luck on your journey. You have came to the right place, vj is the best. You can find pretty much anything you need to know here.

  19. I was wrong. My flight just went up by $400. Yikes.

lol, that happens with all the airlines. i spotted a flight on delta for total 5700 pounds something and 2 days later same flight went up to 11,000 something.

i just found a flight through egyptair that goes direct to new york for 3938 pounds which is good but i heard some not good stories about them so i don't know i'm flying with them first time.

  20. Good evening...I have a good friend whose wife from the Philippines was approved for her CR1 visa back around October 4th during her interview with the U.S. Embassy. As of today she still has not received the physical visa. Does anyone know how long before the actual visa is mailed? I did a K1 for my fiancee back in 2007 and she got the visa delivered via courier a week after her approval. I realize K1 and CR1 have different processes, but didn't think it would take this much longer for the CR1 to be delivered after approval.

    Thanks!

Ohhhh, they torture the married couples. They make me wish i was only engaged but then i wouldn't have my son..so ok...i'll accept that most of the k1 people that interviewed long after my husband are nice and cozy in the usa right now.
