  1. Hello VJ Family,

It is been awhile that we posted on this site. Our marriage and immigration journeys are going well.I have a question on behalf of our friends who are now in the NVC stage of their CR1.

I will like to know if we (my wife and I) can help as a co-sponsor?

I have looked at the I864A section 8 and I just want to confirm if other relationship referred to on that section 8 could be interpreted as: Friends, Cousins etc.

And can we combine the sponsors income with that of the co-sponsor to meet the poverty threshold requirements OR the co-sponsor alone has to meet that requirement all by themselves????

AND is it possible to use 401k savings as other income to meet the poverty requirement threshold?

I am LPR with 2 years conditional green card.

Many thanks for your prompt advise and suggestions as usual!!!!

  3. Advices and suggestions are welcomed please.

After close to 7 months at the CSS, I got an RFE on my adjustment of status.

They need an I-693 report of medical examination and vaccination record.

NOTE: A review of the record indicates that you entered the united states pursuant to a valid k-1/k-2 nonimmigrant visa. All USCIS records relating to you have been reviewed. The original US department of state medical forms DS-2053, DS-3024, DS-3025 and DS-3026 were not forwarded by the department of state. The record does contain a copy of the applicants immunization record, but original medical and vaccination records are required.

please submit a properly completed and signed form I-693, report of medical examination and vaccination record. The medical examination must be conducted by a physician who is on the list of civil surgeons approved by uscis.

All medical examination must be submitted in an unopened envelope that has been sealed by the civil surgeon.

*****The thing is that I had a medical examination and all the vaccination in London. Called the hospital in London and they say they dont give out medical reports to individuals and that everything is forwarded to the embassy.

Please I will be happy to know if anyone has similar situation and how it was solved. Thanks alot!!

  4. We got the SSN and card in just 7 days. We went to two social security administration offices. It was funny how the two offices interpreted the law differently. One said you are not qualified for SS# because you are not permitted to work yet and offered to issue a denial letter - (which ofcourse we refused and tell them not to proccess the application at all). Alabama state laws require that you need the SS# to be able to get married in the state. And without being married, there is no way you can procceed with the k-1 journey!!

She even suggested that we can go to another state to get married if we can't get married in Alabama because of the SS#.

We went to another office and they did not even raise any question as to whether I was qualified or not. It took less than 5 minutes and I was told my application was approved. This is in the same state and one cannot but wonder if the officers have the same trainning or manual!!

Now we have his Social security card and can't wait to get married and awiat the arrival of our son in the coming weeks.

Many thanks to VJ because we knew all along that some of the officers are not familiar with the k-1 visa procedures in relation to SS#, so all along we kept our cool. VJ is great!!!!!

  5. On April 13, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations

  6. Rebtel (www.rebtel.com) is a great site to use. You can even make free calls using their smart call system. We have been using it for about a year now. We always used the smart calls to call between US and UK. It works for any country that is registered with Rebtel. I check South Africa. You should be able to make free calls as well. (You can use your cell phone or home phone)

  7. So this probably is a very simple question: where should I send my USCIS I-129F petition to??

I live in Chicago, and I saw somewhere that there is a Chicago lockbox?? I thought there was also a California Processing Center, as well as Vermont, but I haven't actually come across their addresses? I have seen 2 for TX - one for Dallas, and one for a city that starts with an L?? Should I send it to the Lockbox in Chicago, or the service center in Vermont, California, or Texas??

Another thread was discussing whether the letter of intent should be sent separately to the service center, or with the package...to the lockbox??

I was just going to put EVERYTHING together, that's listed on the checklist on VJ...to Dallas?

I'm just confused by all the addresses that are floating around. Excuse my ignorance:)

Send it to the USCIS Dallas Lockbox. They will forward it to the next service center once they check the documents.

If you are sending it by regular mail you can use the USCIS, P.O. BOX 660151, Dallas, TX 75266. If you are sending it by express mail use ATTN: I-129F, 2501 South State Highway 121 Business, Suite 400, Lewisville, TX 75067. I suggest sending it by express mail. That way you can track the package. Also, don't for get to include the G-1145 E-notification of application acceptance. You will get a text message saying your package was received, if you include the G-1145.
