Haven't been here in forever. My wife is the reason that brought me here in the first place. Happily her mother is here now and we are working on her brother now.
That being said, here is my question.
My brother in law wishes to get a tourist visa to visit his sister (my wife) and his mother (my mother-in-law). At this time, my wife and MIL both have immigration proceedings to bring him here with an immigrant visa. Does having an immigrant visa in the process doom the tourist visa request or make it more likely?
Note:
Reasons to return
1. Owns an apartment there
2. Has a girlfriend
3. Girlfriend is pregnant with his child
4. Has a good job at a bank
Just mentioned those factors are reasons he would be returning. Further note: He won't be approved for immigrant visa to come to the US for another 6 years.
Enough background given... comments please?

There nothing else for you to do, her GC should be in the mail soon.
so with an IR5 Visa, she gets a green card. The Visa itself being valid for 6 months is just a temporary 'patch' until the green card arrives?

What visa did your MIL enter on?
Good luck

My wife (now an US Citizen) invited her mom here using the i-130 process. She is here and her visa says it is good for 6 months. I have a few questions...
1. Do I know need to file a I-485 to keep her here?
2. Because it has been so soon of her arrival, will there be something arriving automatically and I don't have to file the I-485?
Before her arrival, I pretty much thought I would have to file a 1-485 once she arrived ($1000 bucks ugh) but then a fellow Uzbek national (now citizen of US) advised to my wife she paid one fee and only filed once to bring both her mother and father to the States. I know I will have to talk to this individual but it is not something I am looking forward to (shrug). I was hoping I find my answer from this website and its knowledgeable members.
Thanks for your help

It only takes a few months for the mother (immediate relatives). MY sister filed for our parents when they came as a tourist visa and got approved only a few months later. However, i believe it will takes up to 10 years for the brother since he is the siblings. What you can do i get your mother in law green card first then she will file petition for her son and your wife will be responsible financially. That would make the waiting time shorter on him.
So to summarize...
Have my wife (US citizen) invite her mother with the I-130. File the I-864 once it is requested. Total time approximately five months.
Then have her mother after becoming a Green Card holder, file a petion of I-130 for her son and wait about 4 1/2 to 5 years to be able to join her in the States?
It all seemed so much easier to get my wife here in the first place.

On the left under spousal guides, you will see "Immigration Guides for other relatives". Click on each one (there's one for brother/sister and another for mother/father) and have a read
Best of luck
Checked the mentioned link (guide) and did not find the answer I was looking for.

Parent should take a bout a year
Sibling 10 years or so.
What is this 5 month timetable then for both mother-in-law and brother-in-law for the I-130? In Texas, it shows 5 months but some of the other Regional offices show 2-5 years.

After almost 5 years of marriage to my wife, she is now a citizen. NOW begins the fun stuff.
Her mother and her brother (over 21 but not married) needs to be brought to the States. I know we first have to file the I-130 for them both. As I understand the brother receives low priority, but it seems in Texas (our regional office) it is the same five months as it would be for my mother in law as it will be for my brother in law. I think I am reading this correctly.
Now the questions..
1. If we file both of them at the same time, they should both be approved for the I-130 about the same time. What do they 'receive' at the end of that. Some type of visa? What is it called? Is this what allows them to come to the US to wait for Adjustment of Status given by the I-485?
2. Once they are both here, that is when we send off the I-485 and I-864 right? I understand that my mother-in-law could be applied right away (primacy in visa issuing).
3. Do you have to file the I-864 with the I-130 or the I-485?
Any details would be appreciated.

There is no difference between the 2 year and the 10 year cards when it comes to travelling. AP is not required if your wife has the GC.
Wonderful. My wife was wanting to travel to South Africa to visit her sister and did not want to wait.
This is good!

What is the difference between the 10 year 'green card' and the 2 year 'green card' when it comes to Traveling?
Does my wife need an Advance Parole (Approval) if she is has a Conditional 'Green Card'?

He is only coming for a visit to the US to visit family hence the tourist visa. Then he will return home and wait until it is the proper time to come here with the immigrant visa. One visa at a time.
