  1. Sorry to inform you, biometrics pic!

Luckily mine's only a 2 year card and i won't be flashing it around too much hopefully.. it's not bad, but not as good as the one I sent in :)

Hahaha, that's not good... Ah well...

I does make me wonder why in the world they needed 7 pictures, if they only used one for my Advance Parole document. Where did the other ones go?

  2. I know this might sound really silly to some people, which I guess it is :) It's not a really big deal, but I was just wondering.

What picture do they use to put on your Green Card? Is it the one you sent in with your application, or the one that they took at your biometrics (which is also on your EAD)? The reason I'm asking is because I look drugged on my EAD, and I HATE that picture. And seeing that I will have it for 10 years, I'm not too happy about that, haha :)

    Have a great day !!!

  3. As far as I know, getting an appointment for your interview quickly is a GOOD thing. I got my EAD and AP 2 months after applying. About a week after that I had my appointment for the interview. And now that I got approved my EAD and AP are no longer valid. So I only had them for about a month or so.

If you haven't received them by the date of your interview yet, just tell them. That is not something you can control, but I don't think a cancellation in needed. You just can't use them if you've been approved for permanent residency.

You'll have to wait for your green card at that point. Which I was told, arrives quickly nowadays. I'm waiting myself :)

    Good luck !!!

  4. I had the same issue. My husband and I didn't have anything we owned together, or even any statements that both our names were on. Everything was in my husbands name. So we just took a statement from my husband's insurance policy that had me as a beneficiary on it. We took anything that I ever got in my name at our address to show I actually lived there (bill from the doctor, ITIN form for taxes, etc...) But they told us to also bring electric and water bills and stuff like that, even though they were in my husbands name. I have no clue how that would have helped. We didn't have those at our interview, but hey, we still got approved, so no harm done I guess.

I also found every picture ever taken of the 2 of us, and me with his family. It wasn't that many, we're don't really take a lot of pictures. But anything that can show that you are really living together, and in each others lives.

If they feel that you haven't given them a lot of evidence, they will send you a request for evidence. But don't worry about that just yet, just do what you can, that's all you can do. I just sent in the above, aside from the pictures. I didn't show those until the interview.

    Good luck with everything !

  5. when you get your green card in hand you can take your SSN to your local SSA an get it up to date to show that you a PR now.an no you dont of to have you name in ur passport change...the lady is right u well get yor green card way b4 i got mine 7 days after the interview.. after 4 to 5 days after your interview you well get your welcome letter if you dont get your green card in time just take your passport and your welcome letter to ur local uscis office an they well give u a stamp in you passport saying you are a PR now..so don't worry just give it a week or 2 an u well get everything..

  6. My husband and I had our interview yesterday, and I got approved for permanent residency. The lady that did the interview took my EAD and said my Advance Parole document is now no longer valid.

My problem is, I have a trip planned on December 4th. She told I "should" have my green card by then (she said some people get it 2 weeks after the interview, 4 weeks at most), but I just don't wanna risk not having any documentation to travel. She said that if I didn't have my green card by my departure date, that I could make an Infopass appointment at my local office, where I could get some kind of letter stating that I am a lawful permanent resident, but that I just don't have the actual card yet, so that I can travel. However, when I tried to make an appointment for about a month from now, just in case, like always there were no longer any appointments available. It makes me a little bit nervous. I'm just trying to see what other people's experience has been with this.

This is not a conditional green card, I don't know if that makes any difference in the processing time.

I have a couple other questions, not related to this, but just in case anyone can answer them for me:

    - I have a social security card that says it can only be used with authorization to work from Homeland Security. Am I supposed to get a new one now, or doe this not matter?

    - Do I HAVE to have my married name on my passport? I never changed it, since I haven't traveled internationally in about 3 years now. I did book my ticket under the exact name that's on my passport. I will take my marriage certificate with me. Will I have any issues with this? And am I legally obliged to change it?

Thank you so much for your time !!
