  1. Most people marry in the court in regular clothes and then have a cheap dinner.

We went to buffalo wild wings with friends after our wedding. We never included not 1 photo with AOS. We never were RFEd or asked for photos at all and approved without interview.

I saw a couple married at the court house ( a USC and a Mexican citizen) in regular clothes who said they were having their " reception " at subway...

    You are over thinking it.

Exactly, we got married in the courthouse, just ourselves. The IO understands alot of ppl dont have money for big weddings, Our officer didnt even ask for wedding pictures. Just have other forms of proof of marriage, mingle of finances and etc.

  2. I see several people stating they received their biometrics appt but are choosing walk-ins. Can this be done at all USCIS centers? (we would go to the one stated on our biometrics letter) Do we just bring what is need based on our appt letter? Reason asking is I have some days off this week and wondering if we could keep things going by doing the walk in? Is there anything I should be concerned with? Thanks

Not at all USCIS Centers. Which centre is your appointment scheduled for? When provided, members can provide thier experience about that specific location, because rules vary from location to location.

  3. Hello All,

Earlier my wife and I went in for our initial interview, and in all we would say it was a good interview. However a greencard was not approved or denied, let me explain:

The officer was very nice, and swore us in.

Went through our application and noticed, a section of medical was missing (my doc simply forgot to include it), he said this was a problem and said it may be sent or brought in within 30days.

He then asked myself (the beneficiary) a number of questions verifiying the info on the i130 and i485; such as address, dob, criminal record and etc.

Afterwards, he asked us for evidence of our relationship. We showed him old pictures of ourselves (back from 2005) which he was def. impressed by, bank statements, and rental contracts. He took brief notes and wrote it on our i130 app and i4855.

He did not ask my wife, the sponsor any questions. and gave us back the documents.

He said once they receive the missing doc. we will receive a response within 3 weeks.

He took my i94 and gave me back my EAD.

Does anybody have a clue what I should expect? A rejection letter? A green card?

I like to believe he could tell our relationship was very much legitimate. We are both the same age, same race (i know it shouldnt matter, but you know), my wife is pregant ( we had pics of sono), and niether of us had prior marriages.

  4. Hi guys, I haven't been on this site for a long time...our AOS interview was scheduled for January but then a snow storm caused it to be moved to March 17. We just came home, and I am happy to announce that we are APPROVED!

We had started and stopped the K-1 process (our lawyer screwed it up, making it take 2 years, long story!) and got married on a VWP, but we are being given a green card anyway. In the end, just tell the truth as complex as it may be, and all will be fine. I was super stressed out and nervous -- I even cried a bit when he stamped our forms -- but now I can breathe a sigh of relief because my husband and I will not be separated.

A big thanks to the kind folks at the USCUS office in Raleigh, NC for being fair and trusting the truth -- that we just want to spend our lives together with the ones we love!

If anyone has specific questions about the interview and going through AOS on VWP, please message me.

    Congratulations!!!!

  5. I guess i am not the only one in this situation mine took over 3 months before i got a letter for biometrics but when i went to ASC Dallas i knew why there was so much delay in total i counted about 4 staffs not making this up 1 at the desk 2 ladies doing the actual fingerprinting and photo and 1 guy i guess he is the guard or something.

Yes the dallas center is slow, and you cannot do a walkin. However once you do the biometrics, your EAD should soon follow, mine arrived 10 days after. Now, I am looking for a job! Fingers crossed.

  6. Harpa-Which case was taken off hold and approved?

Britnick---Sorry if I scared you. I didnt mean to make you nervous!

I havent heard of any actual denials either.

Absolutley not, Im grateful you warned me. or else I may have had a heart attack. Atleast now I understand the process, now I will go in and cross my fingers and etc.

As for right now, I am shitscared to tell my wife. Shes a worrier, and this would really scare her, especially since were expecting.

  7. I'm curious as to why people aren't being denied outright. Why put them through all the stress of biometrics and interview and waiting, only to deny them due to something that was known from the first day of filing? :(

Exactly, the wait is the worst. Nevertheless I guess within a few months, I can inform everybody of the Texas office. I hope its good news.

  8. Thanks.

Generally speaking the 5th circuit is one of the circuits that currently hold that any one that overstays on the Visa Waiver Program does not have the right to have their application adjusted.

We talked about it here in this thread Which States Are Denying.

There are several states that are denying VWP adjustment, others that are adjusting at this time(As far as we know) and others that are placing them on hold.

At this point there is not a lot you can do as the application has been filed.

I can only speculate at this point and say that perhaps there is a small possibility that your case is on hold which is why you have not had a straight denial yet. They may not know how to proceed with your case at the district office so rather than proceed with biometrics etc, it is just on hold at the stage that it is at. It may be that they are backed up (As you mentioned in your other thread) and they may not have gotten to you yet. Have you tried making an infopass appointment to see what is going on?

At this point no news is good news for you. You will have time to think about what you will do if you do have to leave the US as in your district there is no appealing a denial.

It is a possibility for all of us who overstayed on the VWP and are filing to adjust status.

Maybe others in the district that you are in will pipe in with information about what exactly is going on there in Dallas.

wow, thanks for your responses. I just completed my biometrics. Do you believe I will be able to receive an EAD to work atleast?

  9. ok, does anybody know alot more about this? i read a little and I am still confused.

I filed a while ago, back in december, and my case seems to be held up. This may be the reason.

I arrived about 10 years ago as a child, on the VWP. went to school and etc. recently got married, and began the AOS process. Does this mean my application will be denied and i will be deportable?

  10. Hi everyone,

My wife got her green card in the mail today! I was really surprised because there was the expectation that it would take about 6 months and that there would be an interview before getting the card. It seems like others got their green cards in the same fashion. Anyone have any idea what happened to the interview part? It just seems too good to be true after all the waiting for the fiancee visa, etc. :)

Congratulations. Some people's cases were transfered to the CSC. This step usually forgoes an inerview and is meant to expedite the process, however some applicants have reported this process has taken them longer. It is good to see it worked fine for you.

  11. lol... you answered it yourself "a paycheck". Many of us cannot afford to not work for 5+ months, let alone 30 days without a paycheck.

I did not bother do an AP, because I do not need to travel, though you may as well fill one out seeing as it is free and emergencies do occur. However the chances of an emergency occuring that I would have to travel overseas is pretty much Nil, so I saved myself the paperwork.
