  1. Aloha,

If you marry within the 90 days you do not have to adjust status immmediately. We adjusted status almost one year after our marriage.. We did get the social security card right away though, as its easier once you are married to get a new card in your wife;s married name if she takes yours. The drawback to not filing immediately is that your wife cannot legally work as the AOS process includes the temporary work permit and the travel permit. But if you dont need those things Or if she doesn't need to get a drivers' license you are ok for quite some time. Many people here have waited until they could raise the money to adjust status. Good luck to you both and congrats. Enjoy your lives together.

  2. HI Frank,

I sent my stuff stuff from Hawaii to a company called Johnny Air. It works great If there is an office near you and an office near your fiancee. It cost much less. About $25.00. total. The company had the package in hand from one office to their Philippine office and my fiancee picked it up at their storefront in the Philippines. No Postal service or UPS involved and I knew where the packet was always.

They did not have an office in Hawaii so I just mailed it registered mail USPS to them from here to them and then they took it from there.

It only took about 4 days once they sent it out on a Monday.

Check their website for location is US and the Philippines http://www.johnnyair.com/?page=65 and see if it might work for you. Good luck........ Paul

  3. This is only a thought but you could try to write or e-mail to the family court in the state, city or town and district that you lived in. If you supply your ex's and your names and the date or year the divorce was filed or granted they may have records and be able to send you a copy. If you don't know where to start you could Google the "family court in the state and city" you lived in and they may list the addresses of the courts. Or try searching on Google for a large "family lawyer" in the town or city you lived in. Many of the larger divorce lawyer websites give advice and tell people where the divorce papers are actually filed. You don't have to hire the lawyer, just look at the sites and see what court the papers are usually filed in. So you could try that as a way to find out what court your ex may have filed the divorce in. You said the daughter mentioned some "trouble" so you do not know if the divorce was actually filed or went through. It must be hard to deal with but once you start to solve the problem you will feel better. Good luck

  4. Using Philippine Airlines I bought a round trip for myself and a one way for my fiancee online. I then had to call Philippine Airlines and tell them the ticket confirmation numbers and request we be seated together. Before I bought the tickets I selected the flight I wanted and called Philippine Airlines and asked if there were available seats together on that flight. When they said yes I booked the flights immediately and callled right back to reserve two seats together. That's how I did it with that airline. Good luck.

  5. Sorry to sound kind of dumb, but what am I supposed to put for Q37 'Has anyone ever filed an immigrant visa petition on your behalf?'

I'm thinking its yes + fiance name, since he filed the i129f to get to this stage?

    thanks

K-1 is considered a non-immigrant visa. We put no because no one ever applied for an immigrant visa for my fiancee. Good luck

  6. I had been in the website given http://www.ustraveld...ndex.html...did follow steps 1 and 2 ( easy ) but when I was on the actual page, under the immigrant visa there is no section to click on that states this >> "Applying for an Immigration Visa Appointment" .. all that was there was VISA INFORMATION : CHECK MY PETITION STATUS : VISA WAIT TIME : SELECT DOCUMENT DELIVERY ADDRESS : APPLY FOR AN EXPEDITED APPOINTMENT : APPICATION PENDIN FURTHER ACTION.

    I am also wondering, isn't K1/K@ a non-immigrant visa? ( not sure that's why I am asking)

I have to apologise Dean-De. I went to the site also and it has changed even though I just did this in May. I also did not see the category "Applying for an immigration visa Appt." I'm going to look around the site some more but so far I just see the "apply for expedited appointment" Sorry. Things change quickly. And yes you are correct K1 is a a non immigrant visa but for some reason the set up was as listed above to get to it.

  7. HI and welcome. As you read you will see people bring up the term primary and secondary evidence. The stamp on your passport page, plane tickets, hotel receipts anything that shows the two of you were in the same country together are what are sometimes referred to as "primary evidence" Photos of you together support these things. Additional evidence of ongoing relationship includes letters but people have also sent in chat logs and e-mails and phone logs (we did) as additional "support". The requirement is that you must have physically met within two years of applying for the I-129F so that is what they want proof of. Many of us sent in all the extra stuff because when it gets to the embassy they have more information on hand about you and it seems to help in the process. The K-1 guides are very helpful. Good luck.

  8. To schedule online embassy appointment "prettyjan" posted this and it is very accurate You cannot schedule online for at least 4 hours after you get your receipt from BPI so it can get in the system:

Be sure to have the beneficiary's passport number and the place of issue and the date of issue and expiration date handy before you start.

    1. Go to this website: http://www.ustraveldocs.com//

    2. Select the Philippines for the Country pull-down menu.

    3. Do not go to the non-immigrant section. Instead, go to the "Immigrant Visas" section and click on "Applying for an Immigration Visa Appointment".

    4. From the Immigrant Visa Appointment page, do not click on "Schedule an Appointment". Instead, look further down and click on "K-Visa Appointment Scheduling".

    5. From this page, you enter your passport number, case number, payment date, birthdate, and create a password.

    6. The next page asks for passport issuance date and experiation date. It also asks for the address to send your passport to after receiving visa. You need to know City, State/Province, and ZIPCODE.

    7. After entering the required info, your name goes to a list and your asked if you want to add another applicant. If including a child with K2, select yes.

    8. Go through the same process again entering in the information for the child.

    9. Here's the tricky part. If something goes wrong and you exit the site but you haven't created the schedule yet, you can't start over again the same way. After the payment date with passport number has been used once, you can't use it again. Instead, you have to go back to the "Applying for an Immigration Visa Appointment" page again. This time you do select the "Schedule an Appointment" link and not the "K-Visa Appointment Scheduling" link. From here, you can re-enter the beneficieries info and add other applicants for the K2 children.

    10. After all applicants are entered, you select them all with the check boxes, and select to set an appointment. Make sure all applicants are selected.

    11. Now you just select the date you want and the time. It sets all applicants the same.

    12. Last, you can download a PDF file for the appointment letters for each applicant.it

The last file you download will be the appointment "letter" It does not look like a letter but has a grid on it with Beneficiary's name' Passport number Interview appointment date UID (which is a barcode) an address for courier delivery and a spot if you select to Hold for delivery which I think means if you pick up the passport at a 2 go storefront instead of having them deliver to your address.

Anyway I found the online process quick and easy. Good luck .

  9. hey guys! hope ur all doin okay.. after noa2 what's next? while my fiancee is waiting for the hard copy of noa2, what can i do? what can i prepare while waiting the hard copy? can i already do medical, get an nbi clearance and police clearance? what else? hope you guys can help me with this, thanks much and god speed!

You can get the NBI the police clearance and the birth certificate. We did months before the embassy interview in Manila. Once you have the NOA2 and you get your MNL number and pay the visa fee at BPI you can get the medical done at St. Lukes.

The stuff that follows is what we did after our NOA2 in May 2011 hope its useful This was for K1 visa at Manila embassy:

You can call or e-mail NVC to get your MNL number. Have your receipt nimber on the NOA-2 and of course beneficiary and petitioner name. It took a couple of weeks for them to have one for us.

    mailto:NVCINQUIRY@state.gov

    1-603-334-0700

Press 2 for Non-Haiti-Related issue (Please note that this will probably change after some time)

    Press 1 for English

    Press 5 for an operator

The Dept of State can tell you if your papers have actually been sent or are at the embassy:

This is where you will be able to find out if your case was received at the Embassy/Consulate. They will not see your case in their system until the NVC has logged it in and applied a case number to it.

    1-202-663-1225

Press 1 for the Main Menu

Press 4 for Foreigners Applying To Come To the US

Press 2 for Immigrant Visas (yeah, yeah - we know they're not really)

Press 3 for Family or Employer Based Visas

    Press 2 for Fiance(e) visas

    Press 0 for an Operator

You can bring your passport and a copy of the passport Bio pages (the pic and printed info on the 1st pages) to BPI and pay for the visa interview now, about 16,900 pesos. You should also know your MNL number in case they ask for it. They usually don't. This can be done anytime. You can call the NVC and get the MNL number 603-334-0700

  10. I had trouble with other packages with Fed ex and DHL . From Hawaii I mailed my docs by USPS certified mail (cost about $10.00 for approx 90 pages) to California to a company called Johnny Air. They then forwarded the package to one of their storefronts in the Philippines in CEBU. The link shows their storefronts. I talked with their customer reps the whole time and knew where the paperwork was always except from the short time it arrived at the airport to the storefront. They then called and notified my fiancee to pick it up. That cost $15.00 total. I felt like I knew where the paperwork was (It included all my tax stuff and the I-134 plus other embassy info.) You might want to see if there is a branch near your fiancee and consider this an alternative. Good luck http://www.johnnyair.com/?page=85

  12. The CFO is about 250 pesos for the seminar and about 450 for the "stamp" on the visa when you get it. CFO can be done while in Manila or Cebu. Fiancee will need her passport (Since you will have the passport, you can do the seminar and get the visa stamp the same day. If you do the CFO before the embassy interview they accept the NOA2 and a copy of your passport bio page) and copy of passport bio pages, copy of petioner's divorce records if any. The Cebu CFO also asked for a pic of us together.

We received the visa 8 working days after the embassy interview in Manila June, 2011.

    Congratulations and Good luck

  13. My Fellow VJers, Greetings!

My fiancee mentioned that she needs my ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND DIVORCE DECREE for her Manila Embassy interview. My question is, would a certified/notarized True Copies of the documents mentioned would suffice? Will she be denied an interview or visa if she just presents notarized copies? Or I really need to trust FedEx and pray they won't lose my docs in transit to Manila. I am afraid that If i send the orig docs that we may never see them again. unsure.gif

Please tell me what you think. Thanks in advance!

    Cheers!

    VanChie

For what its worth this is what I did:

I sent in copies of 2 divorces in DEC 2010 when I filed the I-129F. One was a one page certificate stamped from the state court from many years ago and the 2nd was from a more recent divorce but it was a copy of the entire decree with the court stamp and judge's signature .

Also for the 129F I sent only a black and white copy of my entire passport (though most of it was blank) and no birth certificate at all.

Before the June 22 2011 embassy interview I sent the original divorce papers and an original birth certificate to my fiancee on the outside chance the CO asked to see originals. In our case they did not. They were satisfied with the copies in our I-129F packet. But I know they can ask and I did not want to chance it.

I used a company called Johnny Air http://www.johnnyair.com/?page=72 and had my fiancee pick the papers up at one of their offices in the Philippines. Johnny Air doesn't have an office in Hawaii but I used USPS certified mail to mail my papers to them in California and from there they got it to the Philippines safely and my fiancee picked it up at their office in Cebu. It cost me 30 dollars at the most for a packet of about 35 papers including mailing from Hawaii to California first! (I sent the I-134 and other proofs of relationship also) I don't know if there is Johnny Air office near where your fiancee lives but it was very safe and I knew where the documents were all the time. If you decide to send originals you might consider using them if they have an office near your fiancee.

I have not seen a lot of comments about the Manila embassy asking for originals of the petitioner. As Jim said, though, it is known they can. I included the stuff about Johnny Air because I also had many problems with routine sending of things using the usual carriers and this company was person to person contact and very reliable for me.

    Best of luck...................Paul

  14. We also followed the guide. Packet was about 90 pages. This is what we sent in December 2010:

Cover letter listing contents of packet

Payment in the amount of $340

    1. I-129 F

    2. G -1145 E-notification

    3. G-325A and passport style photo (Petitioner)

    4. G325-A and passport style photo (Beneficiary)

    5. U.S. Passport (Petitioner) Copy of all pages

    6. Letter certifying intent to marry (Petitioner) signed by petitioner

    7. Letter certifying intent to marry (Beneficiary) signed by beneficiary

    8. Divorce documents (Petitioner) (copies of original papers)

    9. Proof of having met in person in the past two years

    a. plane tickets

    b. hotel reservations and payments

    c. photographs

2 visits made 1 set of the above for each visit

    10.Proof of ongoing relationship

    a. e-mails exceprts from e-mails not entire (samples of one per month)

    b. texts excerpts from texts (samples of approx 2 per month)

    c. telephone records and log of Yahoo video calls

    d. engagement ring receipt

Sent in in in that order with cover letter on top.

Ended cover letter with: Copies of documents submitted are exact photocopies of unaltered documents and I understand that I may be required to submit original documents to an Immigration or Consular officer at a later date.

    Good luck and aloha.....................Paul

  15. My fiance and I have been using yahoo messenger and skype for over a year now. I have never been able to figure out how to print any logs. I have printed 1 page for each yahoo conversation and all the skype chats. Weighs about 7 pounds right now. Any help on how to print chat logs from these sites would be appreciated.

I asked Yahoo a while ago and at present you cannot print their phone logs. For what its worth I typed out the log available on Yahoo (the one under "Call HIstory") and dated and signed it and sent it along with the the other information we submitted. I did it for both the 129-F and also prior to the embassy interview on June 22 2011. No one raised a question but I also don't think they really looked at it except maybe a quick glance.. This was at the Philippine embassy.

Also I only sent edited small sections of our conversations (one page) not entire texted chats full length. They lasted hours sometimes. I sent samples from each week of each month covering different topics. Again no questions on the 129-F or the embassy.

    Good luck and aloha ......Paul

  16. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis This is the USCIS web site just type I-134 in the search and you'll get the form and instructions.

All the forms are on the USCIS website.

    Aloha and hang in there..................Paul

  17. Congratulations on you NOA-2.Our petition took about 2 weeks to get into the embassy system. If this is for a K-1 visa this is what we did after our NOA2:

You can bring your passport and a copy of the passport Bio pages (the pic and printed info on the 1st pages) to BPI and pay for the visa interview now, about 16,900 pesos. This can be done anytime. You might want to know your MNL number in case they ask for it. They usually don't. .We call the NVC and got the MNL number 603-334-0700 before the petition was actually sent to the embassy. They were very nice. The petitioner will recieved an NVC letter with MNL number on it also in about -2 weeks.

To schedule online embassy appointment "prettyjan" posted this and it is very accurate You cannot schedule online for at least 4 hours after you gte your receipt so it can get in the system:

    12. Last, you can download a PDF file for the appointment letters for each applicant.it.
