  1. I spoke with a visa specialist yesterday who informed me that my petition is currently in DR and that a packet has been sent to my fiance (4/28). I knew this already. I was trying to see if there was an interview date set. My fiance has not received anything yet  Of course I worry so I told my fiance to try contacting the U.S.embassy since it may be cheaper because he's in DR. He did and they asked him for his passport number and made an appointment for August 19th at 8am. He told me today ecstatic but I feel uneasy because they did not even ask him for our case number. If anything they gave him a number for the interview. They told him to wait a couple more days for the paperwork and that if he doesnt receive it, he may want to print it out online.

Has anyone else had this experience?? I plan to call the visa specialist again to confirm the info given to my fiance.

  2. When I least expected it I recieved my NOA2 email:

On April 8, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

The week that I wasn't even checking my case status I get this unexpected text and email! I prepared my mind and thought I would hear from VSC at the end of April but behold our petition has been approved!

Stay strong fellow VSC filers...things are picking up!:dance:

  3. I totally appreciate your post Aztec, I am sure you are not alone. Personally, I am worried about that stage once my fiance is here. I realize that he will be totally dependent on me. Life in DR is so different from life in the U.S. My fiance lives in Azua, outside of Santo Domingo. I live in NYC. Talk about opposite sides of the spectrum. It's a whole different world. But take it one day at time. What sometimes works for me when I'm stressed about him, I think about the reasons why I love this man and why I feel we are compatible. I think about his personality, characteristics and qualities that makes him special to me and make me feel that he will be dedicated to make our relationship work. Use his strengths to help you. Connect with others that have been through this transition (like you did here on VJ  )

I wish you the best of luck. Take in all the positive feedback. A lot of people on here talk about things that cannot be changed at this point and focus on the problem rather than solutions....ignore those posts. You are not alone. I agree with MrTee 100%. It's about a strong solid foundation and what better cornerstone than the Lord. I am trying to remain positive myself, but I am both anxious and excited of what is to come! Cuidate muchacha...estare en comunicacion con mi jornada que esta por delante!!!

  4. Thank you for sharing such your sweet story. I know exactly what you are talking about when you said about telling others about how you met him. I am still very reserved about sharing my story with my closest friends. My parents are still not thrilled. :-/ Long distant relationships are not easy and take lots of work. But we do love each other and I cannot wait to have him with me and then introduce him once he's here! :) Then I'll be more than willing to share our story with my loved ones.
