Hi all,
We now have an interview date: 1st March. All that's left is medical and to wait!
A quick question: my police report from Australia has only a photocopied signature. In fact, the original copy I received looks very much like a photocopy. Should we be at all concerned? I can't think of anything we could do about it seeing as all Australian police reports are done in this way, but we want to make sure all our bases are thoroughly covered. Does anyone have any advice?
Dabigbass, all our best wishes.

Hi all,
Sent our DS-230 on Tuesday (received yesterday). Hopefully not a long wait for P4!
Congrats on your interview Birdnerd!

Hi all again.
Thanks for all your help so far. It has been a great relief! We have one (hopefully final) question before filing our DS-230.
Our P3 said for us to register on the canada.usvisa-info.com website, and then visit montreal.usconsulate.gov to find out which forms we needed to return with the DS-230. As you can see through the link below, it says to file a DS-230, a checklist and then it starts talking about fiance visas (not relevant to us as we're filing for CR-1). Then below that it says we need to file a receipt of DS-160, which we are a little weirded out by, because the DS-160 page says "NONIMMIGRANT" all over it.
http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/content/content.asp?section=visas&document=visa_pkt3
Does anyone here have any suggestions as to whether we need to complete the DS-160 or not?
Thanks again.

Thanks Birdnerd, much appreciated. We aren't actually trying to schedule an interview, it's just that we were automatically directed to this page by both the site and our P3.
Our P3 said that we needed to register for a DHL location, which could be done through the canada.usvisa-info.com website. In order to do this, we need to select a "Trip Purpose" from the four options listed (Fiance K1/K2, Scheduled by NVC, Ready to schedule, Diversity). We can't navigate around the system any further - to select the DHL location - until we've completed this step, and we're hesitant about returning the DS-230/P3 stuff without a DHL office they can send responses to.

Hi all again,
Our P3 just arrived today and we are on the canada.usvisa-info.com site. We've created an account, "added a family member", ie. me, and are trying to select my Trip Purpose. The P3 has said we "must choose 'Permanently Immigrate to the US'", but there are four options.
* Permanently immigrate to the US (Fiance K1/K2)
* Permanently immigrate to the US (Scheduled by NVC)
* Permanently immigrate to the US (Ready to Schedule)
* Permanently immigrate to the US (Diversity Visa).
We're quite sure that it would be either the second or third option, but given we're DCF'ing we're almost certain our application hasn't gone through to the NVC. We're applying for a CR-1 visa.
Thanks for the advice so far. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, us again. On reading our post it was a little confusing so perhaps this would be a better explanation of our questions. Thanks!
We filed our I-130 in Montreal on 31/8. We are on a very tight timescale - I am an Australian on a temporary work permit in Canada (expires 9th May 2011). In order to interview, I understand I must have legal status in Canada (ie. a work permit), so we're hoping that everything comes through on the quicker side. From our initial date of filing (31/8), we've calculated we have somewhere near 250 days (including holidays) from date of filing the I-130 to when my legal status expires. We're applying for a straight "Green Card" rather than for a K-1 or K-3 visa.
In order to make sure that everything runs as quickly as possible, we're preparing the forms you get in a Packet 3 so as to send them straight back upon receipt of the P3. We are aware there are a number of forms to complete - but we're not sure which forms we need to fill out and retutn, and secondly whether or not we'd need to include an affidavit of support with the checklist/forms we send back. From our understanding we only need to return the DS-230 and the signed checklist (including police certs, birth cert, marriage cert, passport, photos, affidavit of support & domicile stuff).
What else does anyone here think we need to obtain to send back the checklist and secondly are there any other forms we need to return at the same time?
We'd really appreciate any help that could be offered here. Thanks.
Matt & Susan.

Canadian DCFs Waiting for Interview in Montreal
in Direct Consular Filing (DCF) General Discussion

Hi all,
It's been a while since we signed in as we find it's just easier on our nerves to go about our everyday lives without checking in so often, so apologies for not being as supportive as we could have been. As you can all attest, it's a very stressful time.
We have a few questions as our interview, four months in the making, is only three weeks away.
Susan, who lives in the US has filed tax returns for 2008 and 2009 but not for 2010 as it's a very complex tax year for her, involving a move and receiving income from two different countries. For those who have interviewed recently, how in-depth was the investigation into the tax documents? How were you able to prove that the taxes had been filed - were computer print outs enough, or were letters from CPAs required to prove that you had filed? We have other ways of proving domicile (a lease, bank accounts etc), but this is a tricky one for us especially as Susan only received the relevant documents a week or so ago. Is the W2 form sufficient to prove that you're earning income and plan to file?
Secondly, and it may seem like a silly question but when they ask you to bring the "Appointment letter" for your interview, did people receive a letter or is it just a printout of the canada.usvisa-info site?
Lastly, I seem to remember that copies need to be certified but can't find that anywhere. Do photocopies need to be certified for the interview process?
Thanks for any help you can offer
