  1. I went to one of the tax assistance center to file my tax. Since this is the first time i am filing married filing jointly, the return has to be paper based. Tax preparer prepared taxes ((using tax software) and printed the 1040. Then I transferred all the numbers from printed 1040 to one, that was signed by my wife and sent it to me (blank 1040 signed by wife).

Yes, w7 has to be signed by spouse.

Notorized copy of pasport is enough

Signed statement that we want to file jointly

Take 1040, w7, notorized copy of passport ,and statement to IRS assistance center and let them examine your documents. When they accept your document, you will get a copy of each with the stamp on it saying "IRS Recieved"

    Perfect .. sounds good...

  2. I went to IRS Assistance center and the tax auditor told me I had to file either married filing jointly or married filing seperately. We are married thus can not file single. My spouse sent me signed W7 and 1040 form with the notorized copy of passport and I submitted them to IRS authorized personel to get verified. She returned me all the copies of the documents with IRS stamp "IRS received". I hope this might help.

    Hi,

So let me be sure of what you said :-

    1) You filed your own taxes or they did it for you ?

    2) Your Wife signed W-7 and also the 1040 Tax documents if you filed it using turbotax before you went to the IRS office.

    3) Take a Notarized Copy of Passport ( is it ok if notarized from india ) ?

    4) Any other proof they require ?

    thanks in advance ,

    yogi

  3. You are already in April so I dont know how much you can expedite. May hmmmm do you have any good reason why your case should be expedited?

If you do then yes the case can be expedited.

The Interview date assigned is in May end. So I am at the tail end of it.

Moreover my Expedite reason would be the USCIS Fiasco. Lot of people have gotten it expedited using that reason. I mean it was a genuine problem during my USCIS stages.

  4. Hey guys....

I am just curious about something. Has anyone gotten an SIF and then NOT received an e-mail the next day saying your case is complete. I am just wondering so I can get a time frame on this....NOT worried because our AVR has changed but just curious.

PEACE AND LOVE and may lots of VISA'S be issued QUICKLY!!!good.gifkicking.gif

I dont think there any such Email Sent out for CC, just wait couple days and AVR will change.

  5. Hi All,

I know there have been several discussions about TAX Filing.

So now i know my wont make it here before April 15th , so what is the best option :_

    1) Extend my Filing Dates ( but i think this requires SSN too , if I am not wrong ) . OR just extend as Single and than file as Couple.

    2) File as Single and than later ammend as married ? Is this ok ? Essentially I am lying that I am Single.

    3) Married Filing Jointly with W7 ( ITIN application ) ?

Which is the best .. Please advise.

    Thanks,

    Babaa.

  7. US citizen filed I-130, now NVC. This is for India and question is do I need to send ds230 IR5.

I have everything however I do not have my fathers POLICE CERTIFICATE. Do I need to sent with all the documents or does my father obtain this after he gets to interview and bring this with him. I called NVC twice and I got two different answers one said need to send with all the documents and other said father needs to bring this when he is called for interview. I am confuse.

Original/Certified Passport Office Police Certificate for Beneficiary and a copy

Original/Certified Police Clearance Certificate and a copy

    Hi Vishal,

There are 2 ways to tackle this :-

    1) Tell you dad to apply for Police Certificate from passport office and than once he has it, you can sent it in with all your documents.

    2) When mailing your documents to NVC, include a brief explanation that you ahve already applied for PCC from Passport office and it will take some time, so you will present it directly at the interview. Most of the time this trick works.

Coming to the point , about what you need :-

    1) Do you need both certificates ? TO be on the safe side , yes , you do.

But according to the travel website you only need one PCC from regional Passport office. This has recently changed. Mostly you will only need this.

    Hope this helps.

  8. i am getting so frustrated with this "expedited" process!!

i filed CR-1... and now that the file is at the consulate, they keep saying they haven't recieved the package 3!

the nvc is the one that sent all the ds-230 and other things... and if they haven't processed it yet, its okay...

but i have no idea what the next step is...

do i need to fill out a ds-2001 just to get an appointment scheduled since its at the consulate now instead of the NVC??

:( :( when will he be able to come?!?!

    Hi ,

    Hope everything is sorted out.

  9. Off topic, sorry, but does anyone know if USCIS sends all the supporting documents with your case to NVC? I sent a lot of pictures to USCIS when I got the RFE and I'm wondering of those pictures are going to get forwarded to NVC and then the embassy.

    Thanks.

I dont think they give all that stuff to NVC. I think they hold with them, they need that as evidence. NVC only gets the approval. Thats what i think. I could be wrong.
