  1. Hi All!

Just wanted to let you know that I received my DHL waybill number tonight after having to submit additional documents to the consulate on August 4th. I called DOS this past Friday and was still "in administrative processing".

Also, on Friday i had sent an email to the Montreal Consulate inquiring on the status of my Visa - I was getting concerned because I hadn't even gotten an "approval" yet when I called DOS. About 20 minutes after I sent the email they actually got back to me with this:

    Good day,

Please note that all mail addressed to the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal undergoes thorough security clearance procedures at an offsite facility. This creates additional delays for the mail to actually reach our office. The date you claim the mail was delivered is not the actual date our office has received your mail. You may expect your case to be reviewed within 4 weeks from the date that the mail was sent.

I hope that this information may be useful.

    Sincerely,

    OP8

I did put in the subject line "PLEASE PRIORITIZE: URGENT Case # XXXXXXXXXXX" I'm not sure if that helped. Also, they wanted my husbands 2010 tax documents which I sent in the day after my interview on August 4th. But, I also sent in his recent job offer about two weeks later. The Consulate didn't ask for this specifically but, when I spoke to a lovely agent at DOS (Beth and Matthew are the absolute best there!) it was suggested that if it could help my case at all and was relevant to the additional required documentation that it wouldn't hurt to send it in. 12 days later I have my waybill number! Not sure if this helped but clearly it didn't hurt.

Thank you to everyone on here - this site was a Godsend! And, I'll continue to follow for the next steps! If anyone has any questions at all around sending additional documentation to the Montreal Consulate please feel free to message me.

    Good Luck all!

Congratulations Jade. So happy for u.

  2. wow. big congrats to you all! and me to i'll say thank you for posting on here. i also am so grateful of this site. as i think everyone on here is. it really does make this a less lonely path knowing that theres so many others who are feeling and going through the same things. I'v been counting down the days to my interview. i feel i cant prepare enough for this. 75 more days!! i wish you all the best in the many years to come with lots of happiness. again congratulations you made it!!

Thank you tolowyn. For your interview.. there's no point of saying "don't be nervous". Bcz everybody does get nervous. My interview was at 8am. I got the serial number C11. Interview started at 8:10am. I was expecting my turn around 10am as each person was taking more or less 15 min. After C10, instead of C11, C12 appeared. I went to the secretary & asked her. She said probably your case is different. So, they are not ready to call you yet. U can imagine how I felt. Then after C15, number went to C27. That was the last person for immigration interview. I was finally got called at 1:35pm. When I went to the booth, the CO was friendly. As I read b4 in all the reviews for Montreal consulate that COs are very nice there. I felt like i'm telling a friend my love story. I was nervous until the CO started talking to me. I didn't have much proof to show. Me & my husband married without family. So no family in the marriage pics. All I had is our call records for several months from skype. My husband sent me gifts lot of times. But I shredded the receipts. I didn't know then & I can't take the gifts with me. But I did know that if the CO asks anythn abt my hubby or our relationship,I can tell everythn. I know my husband better than he does himself . CO didn't ask for any proof. Ppl do get nervous but if u r confident abt ur relationship, I think nothing to worry. Like I thought b4 my interview that I might get stuck for other reason, but nobody can stop me for suspecting our marriage even though I don't hv enough things to show them. Hope this helps.

  3. Congratulations and thanks for taking the time to write about your experience. I am eternally grateful to the creator of this site because sharing with others, have made my journey more bearable. I feel elated for every visa approval and looking forward to the day when i hear the words---your visa is approved!!

May your journey in the USA be a good one and come with an open mind to embrace different cultures and races

    Thank you..

  4. Hello VJ-ers!! Couldn't understand where to post this. Everybody is so tensed as the VB is abt to publish. When I was in the queue to enter the Montreal consulate, found out most of us are VJ users. Couldn't recognize them as I guess I was the only one with F2A case there. So I alws used the "Bringing family members of permanent residents to America" forum. Met somebody there who spent so much money to hire a lawyer b4 finding out abt VJ. I felt so sad when I heard that her visa was on hold as her lawyer told her that its OK to bring just a copy of AOS. Bt the CO needed the original AOS with live signature of the sponsor. Me, I had lots of bad experience abt lawyers while staying in Canada. So abt this, me & my husband both were determined not to use a lawyer. Anytime I had a problem, I googled the qs & found out someone somewhere in VJ has already asked the qs & had their solutions. I don't have any word to thank this forum & the ppl alws there to help with their best knowledges (Ricardo, Mitch, Miami boy & the list is on and on.. )

Despite my country of birth(Bangladesh) & religion, the visa was approved. The only qs was asked was how I met my husband & related qs to that qs. CO didn't ask me anythn abt the denial of my entry to USA. Probably bcz I explained it on the DS 230 form. When the CO gave me the paper (Welcome to United States of America) I was wondering is that real that I can see my husband after 2 looong years. I started crying holding the paper in front of the CO. I can't explain how I spent every second here living all by myself, not seeing my husband for so long, opening the VB page every month & wishing sth miracle will happen & my visa will be available again. When I saw so many ppl are waiting just like me & read their stories, I felt like.. I'm not alone. Thank you & thank you everybody. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Best of luck to the ones who are having their interviews this month & those who are waiting for the miracles in VB. I hope all of us can unite with their spouses and kids soon.. Long live Visa Journey

  5. Yes...plan on tackling the adoption through Nigeria...absolutely. tried to search for Marc Ellis contact info but haven't found him yet...

know that the children will be denied as it stands currently....Really hard to talk to them and hear their tiny voices...innocent and unaware of the happenings.

For those who pray...hold us up to the heavens for God's guidance and intervention

    Thank you

I think this is the contact info for Marc Ellis

  6. UPDATE ON MY WIFE'S CASE:

So what my understanding, She was holding for approval of visa number to released from DoS.

Thank you all Vj members for great help..I appreciated yours efforts in this forum, Great people.

    Once again Thank you!!!

    CONGRATULATIONSSS...

  7. My wife's interview got AP today with other two f2a filers. All three had same window interview and put them AP. I guess the best bet to apply for wife after citizenship. Even God's couldn't help us from AP.

    .

Citizens' spouses never get an AP? I was really looking up to ur case. & ur wife also got an AP made me really disappointed and pessimistic abt my case. Bcz I too tried to enter in US once to see my husband & I got denied. Though my husband is having his oath on 28th of this month, I don't know yet what to hope..

  8. ya...its too difficult to live without spouse....when the visa authority (policy maker) vl know this fact... :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

Yeah.. Thousand times I thought if the visa authority can't expedite the process why don't the US govt. just ban the LPRs from getting married??!! :bonk:

1st time in last 3 years I'm not rushing to open the VB page again & again. God have mercy.. I hope everybody soon gets to live with their spouse for forever & ever..

  9. Hello! I was wondering if anybody can help me with this. My husband has passed his citizenship interview today. His oath is on July 28. After dat shud I let the embassy know rt away abt my husband's citizenship or it is ok if I just bring a photocopy of his naturalization certificate during my interview? I don see if I need to inform the NVC as NVC is no longer handling our case. My interview is on Aug 3, just after 6 days of my husband's citizenship. Any info regarding this wd be appreciated :)
