  1. Honestly the best thing to do is go to the social security office as soon as you can and ask them for a ss number then you'll get it within 14 days. I was waiting for mine for 2months then decided I couldn't be bothered to wait any longer so i went in and they had no record of me. I guess even though i ticked the box stating i wanted a ss number they forgot to process it.. this has happened to a few people it seems.

  2. Well.. I had a caution for shoplifting from 2008 and a warning for shoplifting too but only the caution was on my police certificate. Both the offenses were on the subject access though. Stupid mistakes.. i know. I was approved and had no problems at my interview. The lady interviewing me did ask about the caution and I told her the truth then she said "oh well.. these things happen". I never went to court though so i didn't have a formal judgement of guilt. Do you have convictions or cautions?

  3. Although this is not funny for the person involved... While interviewing for my wifes CR-1 in Nairobi, Kenya people were interviewed at a window in a large crowded room with the CO talking to beneficaries via a microphone and everyone can hear others interviews. This one gentlemen had gotten a tourist visa to the US to see a girl and he returned, as he was supposed. They had decided to pursue a fiance visa upon his return.. At the window, the CO kept asking him, "So, you went to the US just have sex?". The man kept saying no and the CO just kept yelling at him, "Yes, you did!". He would say no again and it just continued. "Admit it, you came to the US just too have sex!". This went on for about 2.5 minutes. I found it to be beyond rude but it was funny though...

haha thats funny.. kinda strange and embarrassing i imagine though.

  4. I have read that people whose police report says "No live trace" rather than "No trace" get a subject access report. I don't even know what a subject access report is, just passing on something I've read.

    Here's some past discussion:

My police certificate came back with a caution on it.. It doesn't say no trace or no live trace.. it just says.. caution. Hmm.. A caution isn't a charge or a conviction. I guess i'ill just see if they request it at my interview :)

  5. Rosy, If he hasn't had all of his jabs before he goes to the medical then they give you a letter to take to your doctors saying "patient has requested to have his vaccinations at your surgery" so that you dont have to pay for them at the medical. When your hubbys had the vaccinations at his gp his doctor then faxes the stuff to kinightsbridge doctors then they forward all his medical stuff to the embassy.. Or he can just have them at his medical and pay for them. :) tis up to you.. They dont deny you though if you dont wanna pay for them so dont worry your silly little head about it all.. haha :)

  6. off the top of my head, and my experience, its most likely the misrep charge that you will be given at the interview, that is the hardest to overcome. london doesnt look upon that too kindly, but it is possible to overturn. laurel scott still does her free online chats on a wednesday, and you can also post her a question thru i2us.

my interview experience was not nice at all. i had an overstay of less than 1 year and the c.o. was not the easiest person to speak to regarding this. wasnt interested in the reasons in the slightest. however, i had my waiver package and i601 ready and handed it in directly after the denial at the interview.

    good luck.

That sucks :( We'll probably write our own waiver too.

  7. Like advocator said, Steven Heller is more reasonable than most and is very accessible. We actually went to his office when I was over visiting in February. He's genuine and thorough....I can't say enough good things about him. And this was after having a very poor experience with a local attorney. You can speak with him or email and describe your situation - and he will be able to tell you if he thinks a waiver is necessary.

I did email him but he said it was £200 to have an appointment and he's in brighton and thats 4 hour away from me and i just cant afford that at the moment. Can he just do skype sessions? Has anyone wrote their own waiver and ha success?

  8. I have my medical on june 10th and i was wondering if i needed to take some sort of medical questionnaire with me or whether i fill one out there? I read that you needed the IV18a form but im not entirely sure what that is. Can someone help me :D
