  1. my fiancee just entered the usa a little over 2 weeks ago and we will be married in about another 2 weeks, my question is does she need anything from the civil surgeon to apply for her aos or does she not need any of this till she goes for her first green card? from looking at the paperwork for the aos i see nothing asking for anything from the civil surgeon on the inital paperwork.

    thanks alan

  2. Congratulations!!

Who is Mrs. Yang and how do we get a hold of her? I'm just starting out and collecting as much information as I can.

    Thank you :)

get your fiancee to look her up on qq in china she will know what i am talking about that is the easiest way to get a hold of her if she cannot find her let me know and i will get lin to send her the info, she also rents apartments just around the corner from the consulate nothing fancy but they have what you need and cheaper than a hotel.

  4. Yes, that's correct. They've changed the process so that you go on the date on the letter for fingerprinting, document submission, etc. Then you return the next morning for the interview. Fun.

Here's the official announcement from their site.

    IV Announcement

    Changes to Immigrant Visa Processing

As of Monday, December 6, 2010, Immigrant Visa (IV) applicants processing at Guangzhou will be required to go to the Consular Office at 12:30pm on the date specified on the appointment letter for fingerprint and document intake. The applicant(s) will then be required to return the following morning at 7:30am for their interview.

thanks for the info nice of them to tell everyone about it huh? their website is not the easiest thing to find out things on either

  5. they asked for it in the instructions that came with packet 4 it is not on the form itself just like they want certain areas filled out in chinese and english, seems everytime we jump through their hoop they add one or teo more. i guess the only ones getting in here illegally are the mexicans sneaking across our borders and being given their green cards and citzenship and everyone else has to fill out every form known to mankind and 2 or 3 more that are kept secret till the interview then you are supposed to pull it out of your #### at that time. how well our governemt works :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

  6. Petitioner Hour for U.S. Citizens to Discontinue

Please note that the Immigrant Visa Section will no longer be holding petitioner hour for U.S. citizens after November 15, 2010. In addition, the Immigrant Visa Unit asks that all inquiries regarding immigrant visas be directed to us using the on-line form available on our website

was anyone else aware of this? isnt this the thing where we supposedly supposed to go and show our support and all that good stuff?

  7. got a question, about how long should it take my fiancee to get packet 4 from the embassy and recieve an email fromn them ? found out her interview is supposed to be on the 7th of december from the state departmentjusst do not want till the last minute to act if it should already be there, one other question how could i contact the embassy there to have another email or about her appointment letter she will need to go to the interview ? thanks alan

  8. IF you have the EMS label set to deliver at the local PO Box in GUZ or to one of the local housing establishments,(There is a lot of advice on places to stay over at the "CFL" webforum, typically the visa should be in hand within a couple days assuming no issues. It is still not advisable to purchase her ticket until the visa is in hand. As far as your POE, any international airport is used to handling non-English speaking travelers so she shouldn't worry. One easy tip is for her to identify someone in a nearby seat who is probably on their way back to the US from visiting family and is bilingual and then ask them if they will handcarry her to the immigration line. We entered at the terminal at O'hare and got stuck in processing for over an hour because NVC had not updated my address change so her papers didn't match the system and they held her while they tracked down the information. The main thing she needs to be careful about is bringing a lot of medicinal or food products because if she is spot checked she will lose most of it. I say this because there is certainly a mother or friend who will tell her that she NEEDS to take certain items that are impossible to find in the US. :innocent::thumbs:

thanks knew about not buying the ticket and i was wondering about the time it may take to get the visa if all goes well the interview is on a wednesday and i am hoping to have it if approved by friday afternoon any way.

  9. hey need to aska question, i am going to china in dec for my fiancees interview and because of work and time constraints i am afraid they may not have the visa to her by the time i have to leave, so my question is how hard would it be for her to enter here without me? keep in mind her english is limited and is there one poe that would be better than another? i do not want to have to fly back to china if i do not have to , but do not mind meeting her at the airport here and flying back to atlanta with her from her poe, any dvice would be helpful. thanks in advanc.
