  1. Hi

I also did not receive my letter for an interview and had no trouble at all in getting through security. I did have several sleepless nights worrying about it - but honestly dont worry.

They just ask for your proof of ID and what time you are scheduled for an interview for and what type of interview so they can find you on their list.

  2. I bought my parents a Skype phone from Amazon - it works the same as a landline phone to them - takes incoming landline calls from their existing landline number but when i ring from abroad I use skype but they answer it as a normal call on the same phone.

Not sure I've given the best description but it does work really well

  3. I've just rung to get an update as I sent my Packet 3 in by recorded delivery and attended my medical on the 10th May.

They have no record of my medical or Packet 3 yet but they did say that they are now quoting a 6 week lead time for them to be keyed into the system due to a backlog.

    Guess its just more waiting

  4. We discussed where to move several times, neither of us has children so that was not a concern.

Originally we thought he would move here as I am more established in the UK than he was in the US. I had a great job, 2 houses, cars and my parents are in England which is important to me if we decide to have children; and at the time he didnt have any capital in the US.

And then Yorkshire weather set in. He lived in Florida at the time, and after his first trip to the UK during which it rained every single day (the trip was in July as well) I think he changed his mind

Having said that we are that boring that we did a 5 year financial plan based on both of us moving each way (no comments on how ####### we are - just be glad we found each other and no one else has to be subject to that :D ). And yes we even googled wage levels, projected income rises and tax changes  . Funny thing was after 5 years both plans turned out about equal. (so much for statistics)

To be honest though the real decision came down to adaptability. Although he is Ex Military and has travelled the globe he always felt foreign in the UK, and despite all the visits here never felt settled. With my job I often travelled so felt comfortable in the US.
