  1. congratulations for you guys, i live in daytona beach so i guess my local office is orlando too , did u guys got txt and email or something in the mail ?

We just got a text and email. We haven't received the Green card yet, so we have no idea how this was processed. We will inform you all of the postmark once the card arrives. One thing is for sure, it was quicker and easier than we thought.

We would really like to do an early walk-in for the biometrics, but it clearly says that the Orlando service center is appointment only. Does anyone know if this may be possible?

  4. Hello

I came in through Minneapolis on 6th september. It was very casual coming in through there. Thanks for the reply about the welcome letter. I bet you got the horrors when you saw texas was dealing with things for you!. I ticked the box too and actually went in to the social security office already but as i wanted to change my name to my masrried name as well, i was advised to wait for my greencard before applying for my ssn in case it might confuse things! I really want my ssn so i can get my drivers licence and i was lucky enough to be offered a job in a vets surgery but i can't do anything till these things arrive. If my welcome letter doesn't come by week 4 who do you think i should contact? Any ideas welcome and hope you get a job soon.

I think your welcome letter will be here any day now. If not, I would contact the USCIS with your LND case number and ask whether they have any further information. I went to my local SSA today, and applied for my card (even though I ticked the DS230 box). The lady, who could barely speak English, took my application quietly and informed my I was on their database. She said my card would be here within 2 weeks. (I understand it's more like 5 days). I am expecting my Green Card anytime, because it went into production on the 26th September.

It seems the SSN is the problem - once that is done, THEN we can become living, breathing Americans. Until I get this, I can't work, drive, buy a car or anything.

Orlando POE was laid back - it took me 25 minutes to get through after all the madness of the last year - just 25 minutes!

Keep us informed as to how things are going with your SSN and GC, and the best of luck to you.

  5. Hello Gary

I have been in the states for 3 weeks too - i got here on the 6th september. i haven't had my welcome to America letter yet and haven't had my green card or ssn either but was wondering how you saw your USCIS status as reading green card in production. Did you use your original USCIS case number? I'd be grateful for any advice. Thanks and hope you are settling in well.

Hey Debz. Congrats on your approval and arrival - I arrived on the 7th September in Orlando. On the 23rd I got a welcome letter from the USCIS Texas (ughh), and a receipt number. I also got a notice of action letter. This allowed me to check the progress of my GC on the USCIS website, and since the 23rd Sept, I have had ree notices - two to say my GC is in production, and 1 to say I am approved LOL!

The SSN seems to be messed up. I ticked the box asking for an automatic SSN, but so far nothing. I am probably going into the SSA office today to see if I am on the USCIS SAVE database - it's been over three weeks since entry and I need to work. WIll let you all know what happens....

I am sure you'll be getting your welcome letter soon - where was your POE? Maybe they are bsier than Orlando...best of luck.

  6. Hi Val! *waves*

Here on VJ, it's suggested that after waiting 3 weeks from POE and the SSN doesn't arrive, then it's safe to go to a local SSA office and apply there. That's what I had to do. I waited three weeks for my SSN, but it never came in the mail, despite checking it off on the form. So, I brought my passport, birth certificate, and marriage certificate. The person there asked me a bunch of questions (instead of filling out a form, she just asked the questions and put them into her computer). Ten days later, my SSN arrived in the mail. So, I'd suggest going to the local SSA office either tomorrow or Friday!

    Hey Lindsey

Another wave back lol (val here) Do you know if you were already on the SAVE data base when you went in ?

Hey Lindsey, it's Gary here (waves back!).

Yep, I think that's what we're going to do - I received my Welcome letter on Friday last, and my GC is in production according to the USCIS status. I managed to get through on the 'phone to our local SSA office, and they told me I was not yet showing on their database...though the girl didn't seem to understand my question, so I am not sure whether I am or not. I think I shall wait for the mail today - three weeks, and then go to Leesburg tomorrow with my ID stuff...I heard somewhere that ticking off the checkbox on the DS230 is only 62% accurate...ughh....I hope I don't end up with two SSN's!!

  8. Hey everyone

Hope your all hanging in. NOT sure if I'm putting this is the correct place but I'm most familiar here...lol..

My hubby Gary has been in the States for 3 weeks today. Should his social be here , like NOW....we checked on the I130 to get the social but we've read that sometimes this gets messed up and you need to go to the local SS branch. Does anyone know about this..what is the general time frame? Gary has gotten his welcome to America letter already.

    Thanks for any help

    Val :-)

  9. Oh, thank goodness, it's about darn time that you received the visa!

I am SO happy that you finally have it! When are you gonna do POE?

Hey Saylin, nice to see you around again. POE will be Orlando, unless the New York route becomes cheaper. Val is with me in the UK, and we'll be flying this coming Sunday I think. I was suprised by the VISA. I expected just a rubber stamp I551 in my passport, but I got a VISA stuck in complete with photograph and registration code. A full temp I 551 for up to one year. (Is this a new procedure, or has someone been kind to us?)

  10. Well, I finally received my VISA on the 22nd August 2011 - one year 1 month from our priority date, which, in the scheme of things, doesn't sound too bad considering I had to go through a waiver of inadmissibilty procedure. As we TSC campaigners all know though, that doesn't tell the whole story. One of these days I'll write a complete rundown of the problems encountered along the way! The worst bit for me, was the denial at interview because of overstay (which I expected). The best bit, was the speed our I 601 waiver was approved. What could have been a horrendous two year wait, was reduced to 2 weeks thanks to the help of many people who helped us push our expedite request through. The people at the London Embassy have been very kind and helpful, and now it's time to return home to the USA. Best wishes to every single one of you who has helped us on our way, and celldoc - are you approved yet?

  11. HEY ALL...to anyone who remembers us. AGGGHHHHHHHHH...we have finally been approved. It's been the longest hardest journey Gary and I have ever been through but it is over now. Gary will be getting his passport and visa verry soon and then he CAN COME HOME! GOD BLESS the USCIS in London and thankyou for being so very kind to us. I hope everyone comes out of this immigration journey in one piece, I know how hard it all is but hang in there for all those still waiting. PEACE AND LOVE ALWAYS!!!!

    Val and Gary

  12. they accepted our i-130 may 16th.how long does it take for a interview?really depressed and its so hard talking alot between our jobs and the 8 hour diffrence.we have a lawyer we r paying thanks!

My heart goes out to you....my husband and I have been going thru the immigration process for 1 year and 2 months....remember...love will conquer all......I hope you have an easier time then we did......good luck to you and your husband and once you get through the USCIS process, I believe things will go quickly....make sure you have ALL your NVC paperwork in order....good.gif

  13. Girl aren't you forgetting something? He's got to sign the 2nd part of the damn file to complete the visa request and that is the very last thing we do, isn't it?

Don't worry it's going to be OK. Get yourself ready to bring your hubby home USA kicking.gif

I"ve read about having to sign conclusion paperwork also.....AGGHHHH.....Please let that be all.....good.gifIt is a second interview Gary found out....please let it be short and sweet, Well....our immediate future is in the hands of Gary's CO.....he was EXTREMELY nice first time around....he had a heart.....I have faith in him realizing the suffering going on here....PEACE AND LOVE!!

i thought of the second part of the form too. maybe he hasnt signed it yet? but better call them and ask - other wise it ll just cause more and more sleepless nights.

i completely understand u being nervous. i m nervous because of my interview already, pretty scared sth might happen - and it wont be earlier than beginning of july.

hang in there - it should be done for u 2 soon. best luck!!! and maybe u ll know more today after talking to so on the ph.

No... he did not sign anything when he was there.... The CO just seemed to want to get his medical sorted out and then process us to completion. Thank GOD the medical is sorted now.

  14. Thanks for all your good wishes. As Val said, the problem with my medical examination is now solved, and I am booked in for an interview at the London Embassy this coming Wednesday. We are hoping for good news finally.

The whole process has gotten me down of late, so I have kept a low profile on VJ. Congratulations to the many people who are in the USA, or pending interviews. It's been a very long, torturous journey, and this forum has kept many of us glued to the task in hand.

Good luck and good fortune to each and every one of us!

  15. this has to be the end for you guys......maybe ( fingers crossed for you ) they will look at it and hand him his passport and visa :D

Im sending an email to all the candidats for president telling how messed up this process is, gonna tell our story from start to finish...election year is the time when all the right ears are open.... :bonk:

For some reason I am very nervous but something inside me says everything will be OK.....God can't hate us THAT much!!wacko.gif PEACE!!!rose.gif
