  1. Well I don't have any experience in this, but I don't think that this will be a problem. They probably just want to affirm his story and make sure no such charges were filed. I hope you hear something soon. Did they ask him to leave his passport?

Yeah, he left his passport... so i am trying to force myself into a wee bit of optimism there. I was quite surprised when they said we would hear in 3-5 days... For some reason i thought i remembered reading an entry from someone else who wasn't given the OK right off the bat due to a caution... but i cant find the post on my searching. guess all i can do is hope for the best. the idea that something from 5 years ago that was nothing but a case of wrong place wrong time (in belfast no less, which means most times and places are the wrong times and places) could postpone our life together is terrifying.

  2. So my love had his interview today... and i didn't experience the relief and joy I had hoped to feel today

My fiance has a caution for criminal damage (an arrest that he was brought in on, no charges were ever made) from exactly 5 years ago. Basically, he was an 18 yr old guy in Belfast, and there was a spree of graffiti that night so when they saw a kid in skate/artsy clothes walking up the street they pulled him in for questioning.

From what I can gather, they said to him today that they had to followup with the police, and that we would know in 3-5 days what the decision would be. He was pretty exhausted and disappointed so I didnt get a whole lot of info out of him...

Anyone have any experience with not getting an immediate approval/similar benign criminal cautions? i'm even more stressed now than I was last night :-\

  3. Hopefully we can get some quick help on here...

My fiance lives in Belfast and will need to fly home after his interview Tuesday. But the embassy will be keeping his passport... this presents obvious problems. He does not have a license (he doesn't drive) and the national ID card is not yet available in NI. We were under the impression (from his stepmother with family that immigrated to australia) that he will be given a temporary card to use for identification... any one have any information about this at all? Thanks!!!!

  4. If it's any comfort, last year when I emailed to reschedule I had to wait two weeks to get a reply. So you shouldn't be paranoid. However hopefully you will get a reply much sooner than I did, especially as you are trying to reschedule sooner. Mine might've taken as exceptionally long time because it was the New Year and they were probably on holiday for half that time. So er, hopefully you will hear very soon.

You're right to mention it on here though. The first time I called the extortion line to reschedule I was told lies and was told to write "Appointment reschedule" in the subject line. I waited two weeks before calling again and getting the code. If only I'd been online back then to know something was wrong!

Good luck, I really hope they let you get an earlier interview!

Got an email this morning, rescheduled for December 7! Now we have to scramble a bit to get flights from Belfast to London and find a hostel nearby for him to stay at (luck would have it that the embassy is in the most expensive area of town, right?). They said that he will be receiving written confirmation shortly but I am a wee bit nervous seeing as it is thursday and he would need to leave for London Monday evening... here's to hoping the Royal post it quick! I did email them back asking for a web confirmation/something to print, but seeing as it take about 4 days to get a response I'm guessing prayers and crossing our fingers is the best option! I am almost in shock at this point... the whole process has been so stressful, it will be such a comfort to finally have my love here with me. I am thinking i will send him the email i got from the consulate with the new date on in incase we dont get anything by post, and have him bring that with the old interview letter and hope for the best. eek! Hope to be posting a positive review of an embassy interview here shortly!

  5. so jealous! we got our interview date monday, and it isn't until january 10! wanna trade? :P

we called the extortion line to reschedule and move it up (the CSC delay caught us) and our wedding is planned for the 22 of january... we were also hoping to have him here for the holidays, my dad is ill and it would mean a lot to my family (and be a huge help) to have my fiance here...

have you heard back about ur schedule request? i'm worried bc i called monday morning and he gave me the code and told me to email londoniv@state.gov with the code CIU751JC... but i still havent heard back. i guess i was hoping to compare codes/experiences bc i am paranoid i did something wrong bc i havent heard yet! (but after dealing with the USCIS i shouldn't be antsy after 3 days, right? haha)

    good luck you guys!

  6. lol...I wonder what the embassy would think if VJ members banded together to have one person call each week for that code...

that's what i'm talking about :) haha... actually the last thing any of us need is the london catching on and black listing us haha. Although I do kind of feel that charging us 1.20p a minute, plus international calling rates PLUS the amount of cash we already have to fork over for everything is a little... crazy.

oh well... to be honest I would pay anything to get my love here sooner :-\

  7. I was wondering if anyone had this weeks code for emails to the london embassy? i was hoping to find a topic/post that whatever member got the information first could post the code (without all of us having to call the 1.20p a minute hotline) From what I have read chances of getting a response from london are slim to non without the code or a case number...

  8. thanks guys! yeah we have all of the paperwork completely ready... and then we realized that your passport number changes with every new passport (which i suppose makes sense. the idea being that if your passport got stolen, it couldnt be used, ect) but it also definitely has got us a bit worried about making all of our dates for everything. guess we can just hope for the best. i am hoping that bc of the hold up at CSC (no one processed for several months) us being at the beginning wave of new applications maybe we will get things a bit sooner because they wont be backlogged... oh well a girl can dream, right? haha

  9. Hello everybody!

Got great news last night that the NVC has forwarded our application to London! (yay!)

Now I'm waiting on my fiance who needed to get a new passport because his is a bit haggard (8 years of traveling around the world has taken a toll on it) but i'm hoping he will get it before/around the time we get Packet 3 so we can send everything off and make a medical appt right away.

    So here are my questions

    1. does he need his new passport number to make the medical appointment?

    2. has anyone had experience with the US embassy in London around christmastime? i'm nervous about slow downs and closures around the holidays. We are planning on getting married at the end of January, and i'm kind of scared that the normal 2 months from packet three to interview is going to grow exponentially. ::gulp::

we filed our I-129F in may and got caught in the great CSC slow down of 2010... the people just a week before us have already interviewed! Kind of a bummer :-\

anyway, any advice/experience would be greatly appreciated!

  10. Yes you need the case number to book the medical. If you've got the NOA2 then you should be receiving the case number very very soon.

The Embassy hasn't entirely switched over to their new policy: I know someone from Northern Ireland who managed to have their medical the same day (or the day before) as the interview just a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately the Embassy is not telling anyone if they are allowing exceptions such as these, so assuming that they are making an exception for Northern Irelanders might not be a good plan. However, might be worth trying to phone+email the Embassy to see if they will provide a concrete answer...

After a good bit of talking with my fiance i think he is just going to suck it up and take a ryanair flight over for the day and just hope for a mid/late afternoon appointment. Its not worth the risk to have one person tell me that us doing it that way is ok only to get there on that day and have someone else decide it was not. thanks for the info tho! just found out our petition got forwarded from the NVC to london today so hopefully we will have packet three soon so we can get the ball rolling on everything! from what ive seen there have been few k1 approvals recently, so maybe we wont have to wait the whole two months it typically takes for everything!

  11. we are running into the same problem... after waiting nearly the entire 5 months for an NOA2 (CSC decided to go on a holiday i guess) we are impatiently awaiting our packet 3 from london :)

from what i just noticed, they won't schedule your interview until after the medical results are in hand. which is a bummer since my fiance is form northern ireland and popping over to london is not an easy experience.

now i was under the impression that you needed your case number from the london embassy before you can schedule your medical... is this still the case? ideally i would just call this week and schedule his medical some time in the next week or two (when i will be over visiting) but i know it can take up to a month to receive the packet 3 after your NOA2 so im not optimistic.

we are supposed to be married in january... heck i expected to be bringing him home with me midnovember. sigh. sorry if this is a bit unclear, i am just frazzled to think that we may be waiting even longer :(

  12. Hey everyone! So we finally got our NOA2 on October 15h (yay! with an NOA1 of June 3 it has been quite a stressful wait!)

I am lucky enough to go see my hunny in a week and a half, we are doing an engagement/wedding party in Belfast to celebrate with his family that won't be able to come over here for the actual ceremony. I wanted to have all of our paperwork organized so that I could bring it over with me and give it to him "send ready" I followed the link listed on the wiki http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html but (as with all things dealing with his visa) it is rather unclear. :help: When we send packet three to london, what exactly do we have to send, and what does he bring with him to the interview? I spent a good bit of time trying to suss it out but i haven't gotten anything definitive so i thought i would ask the experts  any help would be greatly appreciated as always.

to all those interviewing soon, good luck! and to all those awaiting notices may they be speedy!

  13. Same thing happened to us! We got our approval today in the mail :) yaaaaaaaaaaay!

us tooooooo!!!! we got approved the 15th but they must've forgotten to update us on the site as well!

so i know this probably isnt the right place to ask... but any idea how we find out when we are processed at the NVC/when the embassy will get it?

  14. I just got my NOA2 in the mail today! I was so sick of being disappointed by this and the USCIS site so I stopped checking for two weeks and I then I got it in the mail today. The strange thing is I never got an email even though I signed up for it. I signed in and it shows it was last updated October 15th. I'll provide more details when I get home to read it with my own eyes, but for now I just put the NOA2 for today on my timeline. Good luck everyone!

you just made me so excited! im trying to not get my hopes up, but we got touched on oct 15 and havent heard anything since (im signed up for text and email alerts!) and our account status still simply has us being touched on the 15th... i was getting nervous! i work all night but i am hoping when i get home from the graveyard shift there will be something in my mialbox (other than bills!) <3

  15. WE GOT TOUCHED!!!!!!!

    :D :D (L):dance::thumbs:

it looks like they finally started moving over at the CSC today! our NOA1 was June 3rd, and our touch was for today. So excited!!!!! Hoping to hear good news about an NOA2 soon, will keep everyone posted and keep sending good thoughts to everyone on here!

i am so used to checking the site and seeing "last updated 06/10/2010" that i about had a heart attack when i saw 10/15/2010 pop up!

sorry to gush, i just could die i am so happy!

  16. Any good news from anyone at all? this whole thing is really starting to wear me down. i'm just having one of those "friday-night-at-home-while-all-of-my-friends-and-their-spouses-are-having-date-night" nights... and all i can do is look and these boards and pray that the CSC finally gets it together. Maybe next week? hard to believe there was a point in time when i thought we would be preparing for our interview by now. :( oh well... best of luck to everyone. we will all get there eventually (L)

  17. Our NOA1 is dated june 1st and no NOA2 yet, i need a new dosis of patience!!

i knowwww... june 3rd here. its so hard to know that we were so close to people that are already scheduling interviews! i keep kicking myself for not sending it in a few days earlier. Just can't wait til the CSC starts working on K1s again... the wait is killer! i am holding out hope tho that MAYBE because so few have gone thru, the NVC and the embassies will be quicker bc there will be less people in front of us? a girl can dream

  18. Yeah, I was thinking I may have to head to England :)

you and me both! i am supposed to go over to belfast to see my sweetheart in about a month for our reception/wedding party for his family and friends... if we don't have an NOA2 by then i'm going to want to stay in protest! it hard to believe at one point in time we thought he would be moving over here shortly after that party! now it looks like it is going to be a challenge just getting him here for the wedding in january!

  19. Petition sent May 27th, NOA1 June 3....

No touch since June 10 (to change information, they entered his country as being ireland as opposed to northern ireland... i guess they need a bit refresher course on british isle geography  )

Getting very frustrating, will be at four months on Monday... based on previous timelines we were expecting to be getting our interview date soon, not still waiting on our NOA2! guess we can simply keep hoping for the best

  20. Hey everyone! I am new to posting, but I have been stalking to boards for months now :) This site has been such a blessing, I can't imagine how anyone does this without using VJ as a resource! We got caught in the crazy CSC "stoppage" by a matter of days... sent our I-129F to the CSC May 24, NOA1 of June 3, with a last touch date of 6/10/2010... it has been very hard (as you all know!) We made wedding plans for the end of January and I am in an absolute panic that everything won't be processed in time... I guess all we can do is think good thoughts and hope that the CSC suddenly returns to it's formerly speedy self! I am very nervous that the holidays will hit and there with be no interview/processing in dec and jan... sigh. i just wish he could live here while all of this happens. Sorry for a rather useless "poor me" rant... probably not the best impression to start with on the VJ site, huh? haha. much love and luck to everyone else who is waiting... at least there is skype, right?
