  1. My fiance gave me his debit card, in case I need money .

He says we should use that at the interview, to show that we have a rounded relationship. but I am afraid it might look bad.

What do you think? As far as I know, I am not in a high fraud country.

when i had my interview they only took cash, USD or Romanian currency.

also don't show them any money wire from him to you, they don't like that.

  2. No Romanian Consulate will have anything to do with this process. The interview will be at the US Embassy in Romania by a US Consular Immigrant Visa Unit Consular office. What you haven't heard of could probably fill a decent size library. The same goes for me. headbonk.gif Each case is evaluated based on the totality of circumstances of the individual case.

i was just trying to help not to put her down. i was speaking from my own experience. Romania isn't China, a lot less people apply for visa over there. being positive is always better than having negative thoughts. so Sanndra, don't worry you are just fine, trust me!

  3. i had met my fiance (now husband) only for 10 days before applying for K1. i had the same worries you do but everything went smoothly and without any problems at all. the consuls know that it's difficult for 2 people who live so far apart from each other to meet too often because of their jobs and other factors. the romanian consulate is not difficult at all, i never heard of anyone being denied K1 or CR1 visa unless maybe there was something wrong with their papers or the relationship was fake (they somehow know when you lie).

so meeting for a little time before applying for the visa shouldn't be something to worry about. take care!

  4. Hello you all VJ's people! :P Hope everyone it is ok. Now i have a question  When you received the package from the embassy, you had to sign for it or you simply found it in your mail box? I am asking a silly question lol :bonk: but i might be away from my house for few and i am afraid the pack will get lost or ... Thank you for the answers

you just find it in your mail box.

  5. Just thought I would share my experience on visiting a civil surgeon in Spokane, WA - since I could find no information specific to this area.

    Basically there are 3 civil surgeons. Dr/s Lee & Lee, who are husband and wife; and Dr Goodwinn, who works out of Spokane Falls Family Clinic. Here is my experience with both Dr (Mrs) Lee & Dr Goodwin;

Dr Goodwin - Will transcribe for $175 (which I was informed would be the same I would pay if I were to have a physical)... HOWEVER... I was told that I needed to register with the clinic and wait a week to be entered into the system. I would then need to pay the $175 upfront to make the appointment with Dr Goodwin. Once I got to speak with him he would then let me know whether or not my 'immigration situation' was something he could help me with. I asked the office manager whether or not he would transcribe my immunization record to an i-693 and she told me she didn't know and advised me to pay the money and see the doctor. So basically if Dr Goodwin refused, i would have been out of $175. What a joke.

Dr Lee - Will transcribe for $25. Great right!!! I was told to bring my passport/visa, marriage cert, husbands birth cert, DS-3025 and other medical information I had from my home country. The receptionist told me that I will need to have a TB test to which I refused, she stated that I would need proof if this was the case - so I told her I would bring the USCIS i-693 instructions that say that I don't need another. Sounded easy enough.

So I booked to see Dr Lee. In a nutshell, she INSISTED that I needed to have a TB skin test/X-RAY. I showed her my entire medical I had done in my home country and she basically told me it was worthless - even though it was endorsed by the US Embassy panel physician. She refused to read or even look at the i-693 instructions I brought along with me and basically told me to go see Dr Goodwin if I wasn't happy with her. I'm glad I did my research as I knew I did not need to have another physical or TB test - heck, I had the x-rays with me and was not about to drop another $300. Anyway she basically kicked me out of her office.

After a couple of hours of whinging and trying to track down that infamous Texas doctor I had been reading a lot about who would transcribe over the phone/fax (they are no longer a civil surgeon FYI) - I got a call from Dr Lee's receptionist who said she had found some information supporting what I had said (DUH!) and invited me back the following monday to see the doctor. TO make a long story short(er) - Dr Lee transcribed my DS-3025 in about 10 minutes and admitted that she had not really dealt with anyone with a K-1 VISA.

I truly hope this helps the next person who comes through this way. Don't forget to do your research!

What an exhausting process. Now I can hopefully get AOS away this week!

Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

I have a question though if you could help us please: can you give us a link to an official site where it states that we don't need to take another medical exam? I'd like to print it and show it to the civil surgeon too in case they don't know the rules.

    Thanks a lot!

  6. We just received packet 3 for the K1 visa.

It advises to finish the D156, D156K and D230 forms.

In the D230 form it asks for birth certificate, police compliance certificate and financial (i-134) from USC.

You also have to schedule the medical examination the day before or the day of the interview at a pre approved location.

What else should I bring with me? Copy of NOA2? Copy of original K1 packet (i129f, g325a's, intent to marry letters, proof of relationship)? Proof of ongoing relationship (emails, phone logs, pictures, airplane stubs, pport copies (stamps) hotel receipts)? Pictures of me and my fiance? Passport/Id card. What else would I need to bring? How long does the interview in buch last? 20 minutes? I have seen the example questions but it seems pretty quick. Any advice would be helpful bcz we are very close to setting the date for the interview in next month. Thank you :)

No copies of original K1 packet nor NOA2, no intent to marry letters. yes the relationship proof you mentioned above. no copy of ID, just your passport and original birth certificate. you will also need the medical exam results of course, the affidavit of support plus latest pay stubs and letter from employer. ring and ring receipt if you have any, if you don't, no biggie ;)

the interview only takes about 5 mins and yes, the questions are easy, the consuls are nice and smiling! :)

    good luck!

    ps: please update your timeline!!

  7. 1- i know is still early to think about interview since we'll get out noa2 at the end of the summer probably. i want to know from experience of other people how they fix the interview dates? i want to be there before christmas so if i get my noa2 lets say in august how long will it take for the interview?

2- how are the people there? i know that people in romania (and not only) judge a lot by looks. im a very open minded person, i have lip piercings and a tattoo that covers around 70% of my back. i'll take them off for the interview date only, but in the pictures of me and my fiance they are very visible. is there any chance to get a bad impression about me and reject me because of that? i feel very good with the way i am but im a bit worried about how the people there think.

    thank you

you can look at the Romanians timelines here on VJ to get an idea about how long it takes from NOA2 to interview date. it's actually up to you. they will call or e-mail you to set the interview date after you send packet 3 back to them. so if your NOA2 is in august you could have your interview in September or October, it takes from 2 weeks to a month from NOA2 date to packet 3 date.

the person who interviews you is American so i don't think they will judge by the looks. if you have enough relationship proof and you are honest with them, the piercings and tatoos won't count, i'm sure.

    good luck!

  8. We had the interview today, after a few issues with my previous visas (I had many : J1, F1, H1B) they finally found my J1 waiver in the system so we got at the interview and the guy told us ( me and my fiance ) that we are approved. He said to wait about an hour to get the visa, so we did , but after an hour he said the security check for me wasn't received yet so that will take a while but there is no "nothing to worry about" and we should come back tomorrow. I DO NOT believe this "no worries" thing because about a year ago I came home with my fiance to meet my family , having H1B at that time. They told me the same thing: "You are approved and come back tomorrow" and next day they told me the visa is not ready yet and it will take more time. After few months they called me and told me that my H1B visa is "not denied" but is in "administrative processing" and we never heard anything ever since. At today's interview the guy obviously knew about my previous H1B interview and he said that wasn't my fault , it was something with my petitioner (my employer when I applied for the H1b).

Will I be in the same situation again ? They didn't do my security check on these 8 months since I am getting crazy about this visa ?

    Any thoughts welcomed .....

Florina congrats! Don't worry they told me the exact same words and i was worried too, i understand you perfectly. but when i came back next day they had my visa printed and that was it!

So we are waiting for you here!!! Yayyyyy! :*

  9. hi everyone. if my fiancee is pregnant will they check for that at the medical and will i have to show support for 3 people????

i just had the medical today, they do ask you if you are pregnant and if you are they won't perform the chest x-ray because it is bad for the pregnancy.

maybe somebody else can answer about the support for 3 people.

  10. uhm... how about hotel bills with both of your names ? or copies of ATM Transactions in italy ? if u both used ATM , i think the copies of ATM Transactions will be a good proof tht u both was in a same place :) i just checked what docs my fiance sent , and he sent :

. a letter about our last personal meeting

. a letter describe how we met

. ring receipts "this is not important"

    . hotel bills

    . 8 photos

    . copies of ATM Transactions

. marriage intent letter "both of us"

. INDONESIA PASSPORT VISA "the most imprortant"

u can ask me anything if u need help :)

we too have a hotel bill but only his name is written on it even though it was a double room. all our receipts belong to him. also could a statement of my brother help? saying that we stayed in his apartment in italy during his visit? because that's what happened actually except one night when we stayed in a hotel. i wish i had thought about this sooner and send it along with the petition. oh well, i hope we won't get any RFE :)

  11. My Rfe was

    1. proof of meeting within 2 years

    2. circumstance of meeting and the last personal met

    3. letter intent to marry "i have no clue about this, we sent those letter intent on initial petition..."

My fiance mailed back every documents they listed the next day after he got rfe in the mail, and we got noa2 just the next day after USCIS emailed me about RFERR :)

boarding passes looks good, but it will be better if u have proof of when u came to italy, they are very strict about proof of meeting within last 2 years :)

as long as about pictures, pics are secondary evidence, but my fiance also mailed 8 photos with the rfe and wrote "dates, location, what were we doing on the photos" on the back of each photos, he sent photos too for initial petiion but didnt write about dates, loc, etc...

    thanks for the quick reply.

my fiance and i only met one time so that would be the only trip to prove our meeting. i wonder how can i prove when i entered italy by car since there is no border between the EU countries and we don't need passports to travel to any of these countries. uscis should understand these things.

we did write on the back of our pictures our names, date and location.

  12. i think since you live in Romania , you should have proof tht u and your fiance met in person in italy in the last 2 years,if just your fiance's boarding passes and passport stamps, you will get Rfe for this, because USCIS will have a doubt if you were in italia with your fiance or not, and they will send u rfe for this, i also got rfe for prrof of meeting... u better prepare proof of meeting, just in case if u get rfe, but i hope not :)

well we do have other proof like pictures or receipts but i was referring strictly to passport stamps and boarding passes. also now i have my returning boarding passes since i came back to romania by plane.

what was your RFE about and how did u answer to it?

  13. So, after five months of waiting, I finally get a RFE.

I submitted a complete color copy, front to back, of my passport. They're telling me my intinerary was insufficient and that I did not provide a proper passport copy. Which is fine, but I already submmited my boarding pass and the complete color copy, including sticky notes that indicted which pages were stamped with regards to my entry/exit into Holland... they want proof I've been to Germany. I already explained I was on a trip to Holland when I met up with him, so he flew in from Germany to hang out with me. I typed out an explaination why this happened in decent detail.

They want proof I've been to Germany, which I haven't. Is there some sort of stupid immigration rule we have to meet in his country? The only proof we have of him being in Holland are our pictures (again, already submitted) and his ticket, which is dated (I even highlighted it), but they claim it's not dated and we can't use it.

I'm just so angry right now... and slightly unsure what to do. My plan now is to do everything they ask, including adding evidence of our recent visit, add more photos, but I'm afraid I'll get this bullcrap again.

i'm in the same situation as you. i met my american fiance in italy. i too don't have any passport stamps since i didn't need my passport to travel to italy. i also didn't provide any of my boarding passes since i went to italy by car and when we submited our petition i was still there. we only submited my fiance's boarding passes and passport stamps. so should i expect to receive a RFE too? i hope not. our petition is processed in vermont. i think unfortunately uscis doesn't carefully read all the petitions. keep us posted with your answer to the RFE. Thanks!
