I'm an American studying in Poland. My girlfriend is from Russia, and she is here with me, though her Polish visa is soon to expire. Next year she plans to follow me to America to attend an American school, but in the meantime, if she overstayed her Polish visa, presumably incurring European penalties upon leaving, would it affect her petition for a US visa? Will US immigration run an international background check on her, and if they discover that she overstayed her visa in Poland, will she be rejected as if she had overstayed a US visa?
