How time flies...had my Embassy interview a year ago! (Oct 8, 2009)
by the way, how long did the seminar take?
-
Congratz Al and Gich!
It's finally time for Gich to start packing!
Has Gich completed the CFO seminar? She will need the CFO sticker in her passport in order to leave the Philippines.
Thanks! She'll do the CFO seminar on Monday... by the way, which place would you recommend the best place to do the seminar? we still couldn't decide whether to take it at St. Mary's or PRISM? and on one of the requirements is to bring a copy of the visa.. how can she make a copy of it if it's in the envelope which you're not suppose to open?
-
my fiancee just recieved it... it took 5 business days thanks guys!
-
I was just wondering about everybody's time frame between the interview and the day they've recieved their visa... how many days did it take before you recieved your visa?
-
Thank You All!

My fiancee just had her interview today at the U.S. Embassy Manila and thank goodness we got approved! but one more thing, she was talking to someone while waiting at the embassy and advised her to take a CFO seminar when she recieves her passport and visa. Does she really need to take that before she leaves the Philippines on a K1 visa?

is it okay if you bring someone or a companion with you at St. Luke's when you do your medical/physical exam?
-
Yes she can. If you are interested, I could give you the number of a reliable taxi service I used when I still lived there, Trends Taxi. They will pick her up at the terminal and take her where she needs to go. She just has to add Php 50 to the fare on the meter. They're very reliable guys and trustworthy, been using their services since I had surgery back in 2003. 821-4685 and 823-4303.
ok thanks a lot! do you still remember how much would be the total cost from the terminal to st. lukes? like a rough estimate maybe?

for me EDSA the best and less traffic when ur at EDSA already( better to take a cab rather than a bus much more convenient and more safer.) take a cab going to LRT station on way to monumento then take the train and stop at UN ave. then there was a line of pedicab downstairs infront of jollibee u must across the street to take the pedicab. then tell to the pedicab driver to bring u at stlukes clinic at JBocobo st. they know that already u pay Php20 take note:be careful in taking a cab going to LRT they sometimes make an arrangement or contract from u because some cab/taxi drivers are taking advantage for those who doesnt know were they going especially when they know u are new to the city and ask for u to have contract i mean assign by how much are u going to pay without plug down rate. GODBLESS
can you just take the taxi straight to St. Luke's Extension clinic, as soon as you get off at the terminal? I think it's better that way other than commuting from one to another...

hahahaha okay... how long is the average wait at the embassy anyways? i'm hoping it'll be over just after lunch time? if you have a 7am appointment...
-
In the waiting room, there is a table set up next to the Air21 desk where your fiancee can grab a sandwich, chips and drinks. Once you're inside the Embassy, you stay inside until the interview is over...so make sure she has everything she needs for the interview.
thanks for the info! by the way, are they free? hehehe

is there a place inside the embassy where you can buy food or snacks? if not, can you go out of the embassy for a bit to buy food outside?
-
what's the closest victory liner bus station to St. Lukes?

good day..I just arrived in San Francisco from Manila..I flew with PAL(Philippine Airlines)..it's a nice airline..my fiance booked my ticket through Expedia(you can also book thru PAL's website) and i just printed out the itinerary and that's the one I presented at NAIA Terminal 2 airport during my departure...I had a non-stop flight(12:30 hours)..they serve good food as well...btw, the Customs and Immigration Officers @ SFO International Airport were so nice..no hassle...God bless on her trip...
wow! congratulations! i'm happy to hear the good news!
thanks for the info's everybody... does anyone else got their ticket other than the internet?
-
I am shopping around for a one-way plane ticket from MNL to SFO for my fiancee.. does any one know a place, travel agency, or a website where I can find a good price for the one way trip? Let's just say the trip will be in November, from Manila to San Francisco, California.

i was just wondering if there's a place somewhere outside of the embassy where you can keep your cellphone, electronics, etc. like a prepaid locker? so my fiancee can get a hold of me as soon as she steps out of the embassy. if not, is there a payphone over there? Thanks!
-
YOU ASKED EARLIER AND WE ALL GAVE YOU SUGGESTIONS!!! REMEMBER
that one was for St. Luke's... I didn't know how far apart they are from each other so I asked one for embassy, hehe.. thanks again!

Nice! Thanks for the info guys!

Does anyone know any hotels or motels close to the USE Manila? and the their rates?
I was thinking of making my fiancee stay at the same hotel she'll be staying at by St. Lukes or is it too far from the embassy? any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
-
Chinook spent four or five hours at St. Lukes on the second day of her medical. She arrived about ten in the morning and was finished by three in the afternoon.
She did not enjoy the vaccinations!
I was thinking that my fiancee will get the vaccinations as well. How many vaccinations did Chinook take?
-
thanks for all the suggestions... my fiancee found this place called Paragon Hotel? has any body ever stayed there? the rate is also around the $50 ballpark, give or take. It's also a walking distance to the St. Luke's extension clinic to where they will be doing the medical/physical exam. Goodluck to us and everybody!

my fiancee is about to take her medical exam soon and needs to find a hotel/motel to stay in for a couple of days... does anyone know a hotel/motel that's close to the clinic? and what's the best rate out there?
-
Thanks! hopefully we'll be one of those lucky ones to finish within the first half of the day...
We thought the wait would be short on the last day but we actually wound up waiting between 9am and 6pm for the results.
So if I were you...be prepared to wait the whole day...no idea how long your stuff will take to be released. It depends on what time you had your x-ray taken and which batch of doctors and radiologists will review your x-ray. There are like 2 or 3 sessions daily, and if yours was turned in late, you have to wait. Other things may have happened during the medical which can cause a delay.
I think the luckier applicants were able to finish within half a day on the second day...am sure you will hear about their experience too.
-
since taking a medical/physical examination at St. Lukes will take about 2days... and I have an idea that the first day at the clinic is about a whole day process. I'm just wondering how long will the 2nd day take?, since it's just for getting the result of the exam (considering you passed and cleared everything) Thanks!

I'm filling out form I-485 for my fiancee... I'm wondering if I should still put her last name on the form, or should I put mine since we're married already?
And also with all the other forms that comes with it. (G-325A, I-765)
