  1. So well said JRF....good.gif Please try to understand this is a tough process and needs time. As for travelling to Dehradun I know exactly what you are talking about... my cousin went to Dehradun and returned just fine..no issues. There was a cloudburst causing landslides and changed course of river cutting some part off from rest of country...but that has been resolved. Also, this issue was high up in mountains not in Dehradun. Please check again.

Another idea is to wait for another month or so and the monsoon will be over in India and then you can do the needful (if you want to do it this way).

They will not make you wait at interview...it will be fast. The real wait is at NVC and that's how it goes I am afraid.

  2. Alright....please calm down first. Calm your nerves...I don't know if someone mentioned to you that this is a grueling journey and often tough. You need to give yourself more time in this process. There is no quick fix and totally is dependent on US officers. That being said there is no way you will get through without the PCC... You need it..period. In India it should not be easy because in your problem itself you gave a solution. Corruption...that's your answer to Indian PCC. Just bribe some lower level police officials (generally they are the ones who visit for inquiry before issuing the PCC) and also ask the guy to get in touch with the local administrative officer (called SDM- district magistrate) or the circle officer in charge (police) or the SHO of local police station. He needs to make more efforts and money in India can get you anything....That's what I am proud of about India. (Nothing official about it) :)

Let me know if you need more answers. For thai thing some one here will come along to guide.

  3. I received my NOA July, 29th with a receipt date as of 24th (the day my package arrived there). I am with California and they work tiny bit faster, so do not worry Linney, you will get it this week.

Please update my NOA July, 24th. Thank you!

Hello All... I mailed our packet last month around 20th June which reached the VSC on 25th June (exactly 90 days before my status expires). Check was cashed on 5th July and received NOA1 dated 1st July but since then there hasn't been any action...no biometrics or anything. Can't even track the case because the NOA1 receipt number is not real per the letter and it says that we need to wait for the biometrics letter for receipt number and track that. Please suggest what is all this and what should be done in this situation ?

    Thank You.

  4. Hi,

I don't think you need to send all the 24 months of statements...(it never hurts to send more if you want to). I believe that your printout will work and that's what I am doing too. I am sending bank statements for last one year (like 4 of them for each bank account i.e. quarterly statements). However, I hope you are sending all the other financial records such as joint ownership of house, loans, leases, car, credit cards, some city utilities, anniversary card copies, some photos of you together etc.

  5. Genpact has an office in Dallas. Have you tried your luck there? If anyone can appreciate your experience in outsourcing/consulting, it's an outsourcing/consulting firm started in India by GE.

Will contact them first thing on Tuesday (coz I know about Monday blues) ... Thanks for advice my friend.

It doesn't matter where you are right now; God has moments of favor for you. You may not be able to figure it out, but that's okay. That's not your job. Your job is to believe. God's already figured it out. You just have to keep on doing the right things..

Unfortunately GOD isnt helping us. We are in tough situation rigth now. :-(

  6. Anurag,

With a MBA and 5 yrs working with a US Company in India, plus green card.. my question is where are u interviewing? And how did your interviews go? Not to sound mean, but, alot of jobs requiring MBA w/ professional exp. are about relationships and selling yourself at the interview. They want to know more about YOU and less about your educational path. I have the same problem you are encountering w/ Indian IT guys coming here and having difficulties. Have your resume critiqued by a professional, they are very helpful. Go to free interviewing sessions at local colleges or practice interviewing .. Reason I say this is the corporate HR culture is vastly different here vs. India. Find out what you may be lacking in the interview process and possibly get recommendations on improving.. All the best..

My interviews seems to be perfectly fine. Except for couple of them asked me about SEC filing like 10K and 10Q which I do not have experience in. I have very good background working for some really big names on behalf of third parties in India. I was promoted in my last job due to my ability to make an impact on the bottomline of the client, which I have mentioned in my resume as my accomplishment. But it seems that everyone is wary of hiring someone who is out of job and that is what hurts me, because I always held myself in high regards and with big ambitions. Now it all seems to be falling apart... No one is giving me an opportunity and believe me that I can really be a big asset for the company who hires me. But the wait seems to be loooooooooooong and never ending.... It just makes me feel so worthless and bad. Its difficult to even describe it. :-( (Please let me know more about that college interview thing....Where can I go for it and talk to whom. I am close to University of Texas- Dallas. I would like to know if I am messing up somewhere during my interviews). Thanks !!

  7. Go to Robert Half or Accountemps and try for temporary placement until you can find a job. Even if you're placed in something below your skill level, it gets you in the door and lets you dazzle them.

Do you have your CPA? If not, consider working on it.

Find a cause you feel passionate about and volunteer. Volunteering gives you a chance to meet other civic-minded business professionals and show them your work ethic.

Is there an Indian organization in your area you can join? Join it. You may find opportunities through that kind of network.

Tax season is upon us. H&R Block always hires like crazy to do tax returns. Generally pretty boring stuff, but it's a job and you'll meet lots of people and you'll keep your skills fresh.

Think about the companies you worked with in outsourcing/consulting. What industries were they in? Can you target companies in your area in the same industry? Make sure your cover letter lists your major accomplishments and your resume shows the contributions you've made on those projects.

What about tutoring? Post on Craig's list and at the local high schools and community colleges. A lot of people freak out when they see numbers and can't handle Accounting (even though it's not math, it's just organizing) and Finance.

Last resort: find a large corporation nearby with a lot of Indians working at it. Open a tea stall. I've never found tea or coffee in the US as fantastic as in India. You would have lines around the block.

I am in touch with accounting recruiters such as Robert half, Parker and lynch etc. Problem here is that recruiters (or even companies ) want you to have US credentials. I am right now looking for Staff/Senior Accountant jobs or as a financial analyst. Though back in India I was already a manager (I am the fastest and youngest to be there in any of the companies I worked in). I knew it that I would have to start afresh and aim low, but I am afraid to start too low because in US the promotions or raises are not that much as in India. It takes years here for people to get promoted (From what I have learnt in past working with all these US clients). Also I am working for CFA level 1 right now and my degrees are in evaluation process for CPA (w/ Texas State Board of Accounting - Please let me know if my bachelors and masters will help me qualify for 150 hours rule w/ 30 hours accounting, if you know about it or anyone else reading this). I tried to get for a low end job but the recruiter said that the company was unwilling to even interview me because I am "over-qualified".

Tea stall is not my cup of tea but u r invited for one anytime my friend. Please let me know about your experiences and how you got your first job. Thanks !!

  8. Hi All !! This is really a sad story now. When we decided to be together here in US, everything seems so good and we were happy. We were confident that with my degrees ( Bachelors in Accounting & MBA (Finance) ) from India and more then 5 years of experience working for different American companies in India (Through consulting and outsourcing) I will find something in US. So I landed here in June, got my EAD in August and green card in october. Since september I have gone all out looking for a job, met all the recruiters, have been interviewed by like 4 different organizations...but all in vain. No Success... Many recruiters have even stopped answering my calls. Never felt so unwanted and sad... All this is causing so much stress for both of us... at times both of us cry (but dont show to each other). We thought of this as a wonderful dream come true to be together after all that hard work and pain of immigration process but now I feel I am in a deep dark tunnel and there is no end to it. Thinking of leaving US now but she can't because she is still doing her graduation. Brings tears to my eyes when I look at her innocent face and the situation we are in :-( .... very very very tough life now. Please advise what should I do. Any help will be appreciated.

  9. iam planning to marry out side the US in nov 2011 my fiance has visitor visa but she never visit to US.

so after marriage can she come to US with me on her visitor visa. than i will file I-130 and I-485. so does she have to go back or she can stay and get green card

It totally depends on the POE officer if he is satisfied by her explanation or not. She has to give reason for visit and also prove strong ties to her country to go back. Since you will be filing for I-130 and I-485 later so I suggest that she shouldn't lie about her reason to come to US. After knowing that, I don't think the POE officer will let her in. Also, for you to apply for I-130 she has to go back to her country.

  10. You do not need to provide ALL of them. I went through this so here it is:

    1) Pay stubs they are probably requesting from your spuse who is US citizen and is supporting you. You have to provide it and probably to prove that sponsor can support you

    2) Checking account, credit cards: you do not need to be permanent resident to have joint account. I think you have to provide evidence for at least joint checking account. Utility bills - you do not have to.

    3) Wedding announcement probably is just there but not necessary

    4) Medical record - they might of lost it. You can ask them. If they did - bad luck. You have to go for medical again

    5) Tax return, etc.. you HAVE to provide it to support sponsorship. You do not have a choice

    6) Pics from the wedding and list: you also have to provide it if you had a real wedding as you are claiming.

Thanks for your advise. We have pictures with her friends, parents at wedding so i will send those. Tax and pay stubs will be taken care of as those we sent them earlier too and now again we can send the same. However, we don't have a joint checking account or joint credit card bill since we thought that I would have to be a resident and earning for that. How can we deal this ? Can we go to her bank now and do it ? Plz advise.

Also, Can you tell me if contacting the congressman will help for the medical. We have a copy of G-3025 and I have seen some members here contacting there congressman for this medical mess done by USCIS. Plz advise.

Right now we are living with her parents so we do not have any gas, cable or electricity bills etc. Should we send a notarized document from her parents that we are staying with them ? Plz advise.

Thanks again for your response and request you to reply on these queries too.

  11. Hi to all of my VJ friend

After having filed for AOS two months back, now the CSC has come back to us asking for documents (some of them totally pointless) from the beginning of the process. We don't know if they lost our papers while transferring our case to CSC (as we filed for K-1 with VSC and AOS was with NBC) or what ? Below are my questions, Request all of you to please read them and help me with your advise/suggestions/experiences :

I am confused as to how can I provide them the pay stubs, checking account balances, utility bills (phone, gas, electricity etc),credit card bills in my name. Since I am still not authorized to work here, so I don't have any of these. They are also asking for my driver's license which I don't have since I can't have a license without my green card (As per DMV officials). What should we do for these ?

Secondly, they are asking for wedding announcements to my friends and relatives in India. We didn't do any announcement (in written) since they couldn't have come here anyways. What should we do for the same ?

Also, they are asking for my medical records (vaccination etc) which they should have got in the packed letter (which I handed over to POE official). I had gone through all the vaccinations etc. from one of the doctors on the panel list of USCIS in the month of April 2011. As far as I understand they are good for next one year. I have a copy of the G-3025 medical sheet from the doctor (which I included in the file I sent for AOS). What should we do for the same ?

I know we can get a letter from her siblings as to why they were not able to attend the wedding (the reason is that it was a small affair in a court room),pay stubs from her office, her tax transcripts (again.... the 3rd time they are asking for it), more photos, list of people attended our wedding etc but the point is that why are these people so unrealistic and harassing. Its a sad and disheartening situation. :(:(:(:(

Please help me with the above things since some of you might have already gone through this situation. Thanks!!!

  12. ours is insane.. we were thinking it was for the medical, which is what it seems like is typical for a lot of people, and we were right. Nut they are also asking for 2 more pages of proof! They want wedding announcements, letters from us stating our 3 favorite characteristics of each other, letters from parents and siblings, more pay stubs, the list goes on. Some of the things they are asking for would have been impossible to get in the first lace, such as his driver's license and pay stubs! We had a freak out about it on Monday but will be getting to more hours of work this weekend. We also spoke with a lawyer who said we probably got stuck with an 'anti-immigration immigration' lawyer. It's all very frustrating because now I am sending in things I sent in with the original I129f application!

Hi Matt and andrea!!! We are in the same situation as you are,or even worse since I haven't even got my EAD still.

Now, I am confused as to how can I provide them the pay stubs, checking account balances, utility bills (phone, gas, electricity etc),credit card bills in my name. Since I am still not authorized to work here, so I don't have any of these. Does the American agencies don't even believe there own citizens ? Its a sad situation :(

I request you to please help me with the above things since you have already gone through them. Thanks!!!

  13. Also consider the age of the parents, as USCIS surely does. You may want to inquire about health care cost for two old folks, whatever age they are. My annual premium is $18K right now, and I'm healthy as an ox, so better budget that in if you sign on the dotted line of the Affidavit of Support.

U must be kiddin' bob.... My friend's parents just visited him from India to US for a period of 5 months and there insurance was only 1800$ not 18k$ (like u said). And both of them are in there 50's. U must be having high insurance cost due to smoking etc. Dont wanna offend u but plz dont give wrong or incomplete information here.

  14. So sorry for you.Can you please list down the questions that were asked by CO,How long was the interview,How was the attitude of CO towards beneficiary,Was the CO American or Indian. Please list down all the details of interview process so that people here can help you.

Meanwhile,Pls contact ur congressman and senator immediately and prevent the petition from going back to US.It will take months for it to reach USCIS and then again months for them to review it.HURRY UP....Dont waste ur time.

  15. hi,I am sorry to hear about the condition u r in....it was so close for u. Anyways, U can call VFS Helpline at 0120-6611411 to reschedule ur interview. They will take ur request. However, with the limited time u have i really dont see u getting a rescheduled interview soon...it can take 3-6 months from what i have researched online. But it can be lesser too... I wish you luck in ur race against time to make it happen.Best of Luck

  16. I am right there with you! GOING CRAZY!!! My NOA1 was 7/21 at VSC. What is going ON over there? It seems like nothing has moved since November

November ? :help: ... There has been hardly any activity since July. Its seems that they just forgot about K1's. CSC has picked up pace but no hope for VSC'ers. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Painful... Very sad. :(

  17. When i went for my K1 interview at the Lagos Consulate in Dec. 2009, i ignorantly went with a a birth certificate which was altered. What happened was that during this period i was pregnant and on bed rest, so my mother took the responsibility of obtaining the birth certificate for me from the National Population Commission in Benin, Edo State(i reside in Lagos). Due to the fact that i and my husband had done our traditional wedding, she entered my marriage name(mrs............) in the certificate. After i explained to her that my husband filed a K1 visa and we also did not have a marriage certificate yet, she somehow managed to have it corrected(by alteration) to my Maiden Name(Miss.......). I did not notice the visible alterations until the CO pointed it out to me at the interview. So, i did not get the visa on that day,but was given a letter that say...'my application will go through administrative processing'. I and my husband sent letters of appeal to the consulate after this incident and i was rescheduled for another interview 2months later. My mother had sent me another birth certificate from the NPC, without alteration. The only question the CO asked was whether my husband had paid my dowry, i said 'yes' and even showed him pictures of our traditional engagement. He then issued the letter that 'according to nigerian laws, i and my husband are legally married and i am not eligible for a fiancee visa'. the CO verbally told me that my husband should file for me as a spouse......this was how we started the IR1/CR1 visa journey. After this denial, i and my husband were at the embassy last April to be interviewed for our daughter's US passport. the interview was successful, and the CO also wanted to know why i am yet to get a visa. I told him i was denied the K1 visa on grounds that 'we are already married'. He then advised that my husband should file for me as a spouse.

Now my question is....what effect will this birth certificate issue have on my present application and ultimately at my K1 Visa Interview. I just do not know what they have entered in my records, as they did not indicate in any of the letters to me that i presented altered documents.

Also, considering all the above circumstances, how do i best prepare for my next interview? what kind of documentation/evidences should i have at hand?

memories of the trauma i went through at my previous consular visits when i was pregnant keeps flashing in my head, and i am really scared! I have been married and living without my husband for almost two years....and now raising our daughter alone....i can't survive this much longer..

I will really appreciate your help in preparing for my next interview and i pray that as you give me relevant and good advise, God will attend to your situation and help you secure your visas as well.

You have been VERY STRONG through all this time. I am sorry I can't help you but please DO NOT lose your patience. Keep faith in system. I know its tough, but it will come. Someone here will for sure help you on this.... BE POSITIVE & MORE STRONG. WISHING YOU BEST OF LUCK FOR REST OF YOUR JOURNEY.
